I’ve read and heard this story at least a dozen times, and I can still never understand that last exchange between Jane and Miss Marple.
Jane has lost her incredulous innocence and sometimes envied the woman who died you her before she knew how rotten her husband was. Miss Marple understood what Jane had been thinking when she said, "I know. I know."
What a wonderful exception to Dame Agatha usual wonderful mysteries. I am curious that the narration is credited but obviously AI.
