If you're unaware, Santa Fe was notorious for its clustered freight schedule, and once BNSF came to be, it seemed to continue. More than a few times, I've seen freights within literally several minutes of one another on this line in the same direction.

I keep expecting you to dive out of the way of train. 😅 It's great to see a NPCU on the line again.
On the "trail" towards home, there's a collapsed drainage culvert; a little bit of climbing or a "detour" that takes you next to the tracks. I took the detour looking down (uneven surface due to ballast), and lo and behold, SB Coaster with a horn blast coming my way! I was never in danger; but it made more alert 😵💫

I really like those Dash 8s. I think I found where those covered gondolas are coming from. I saw a video with a whole bunch of them at San Onofre, the old power plant. They must be using them to haul stuff out of there.

I estimate 45 to 55 mph. During the daylight hours, probably more on the lower end since there are pedestrians on the hiking trails that are right next to the tracks. They are aware of knuckleheads like me farting..ah, working around the tracks.

Nice friend you've got there. Track speed sure is a lot fast here than when I was a kid. Locomotives are more powerful and the track is in a lot better condition now.

Super nice. You get great stuff there. Supposedly they have the funds now to finish double tracking Miramar Hill. That would put an end to these kinds of stops. Of course, it will take a few years to finish. 😬😖

Thanks Jeff. Do we have enough rail traffic to warrant additional tracks? The Coaster/Amtrak lines really don't require continuous double tracking. And, San Diego doesn't run 7/24 Freight traffic. Just my two-cents worth...🤔
@@The1nine1 The level of traffic is limited now by the single track sections that remain. But their goal is to increase traffic, by a lot. Double tracking would of course allow for growth in the numbers of freight and passenger trains. It would mean greater efficiency and fewer delays. Hopefully 😅.

I heard that they're going to be rebuilding the bridge down past the electrical substation. Where a creek comes from under the freeway and then under the trolley and Lossan tracks. Thanks for the video. 👍🏼
