Great video. Why not put a block underneath the 5 gallon bucket to support the weight.
Impressive design. Great video. Can you share the dimensions of the plywood box, please?
Excellent job.
8:12 the way to get the lag bolts perfect is to take a pencil and draw the hole, using the metal leg (from the motor) as your stencil. You’d be drawing onto the wood bracket you just cut. You’ll of course need to scoot the motor away so that you can then drill the hole, but it’s the best way to place holes in critical spots.
I like your arrangement but it makes me wonder how much dust gets to the filter since you removed the OEM "separator" from the equation. I just have a canister in place of the filter bag on mine and I dont know how much those really do for the finer dust in reality. Judging by the amount of dust that gets in my filter I dont think it does much so probably wouldn't help to leave it in the system somewhere but I am still curious. Do you get much dust in the filter and its bucket? What is your routine for cleaning the filter?
I had noticed that you had changed the Barrel to a trash can container I was wondering how the seal is doing because if it has any leaks at all it'll put dust back through your filter I'm just curious how the camper shell gasket was keeping it sealed up
Nice project. If I might ask, what is the footprint of the cabinet? Length, width, height?
I think I'm going to model my harborfreight 2hp dust collection build on your and PatriotDIY's builds. Your rolling closet setup is SUPREME and the way to go; Patriot's usage of the Thein collector is the only part I like better than your upside filter setup. Thanks for showing it with the excellent sense of humour you have.
Excellent video all around Lee. well thought out, practical & easily reproducible. Also thank you for listing all the parts need. I will be applying our build to my shop. Looks to be about $1000 in costs + time+ materials. Q’s: 1) are there any loud vibration noises or rattling of the cabinet or components caused by the impeller when it’s running? Solving the decibel problem is important with DC. 2) do you know if the 34” filter comes in a smaller length as I have a space constraint? I poked around their site but no luck 3) can you provide a demo of it in action/performance to get a good feel for it? Cheers mate
This is exactly what I was looking for--modifying the HF collector into a 2-stage system in a mobile base. With all due respect to the wall mount mod guys, it seems that the geometry of the HF guts requires using a corner wall. I simply don't have a corner like that available. Having said that, I may use your basic idea and mount it on some available wall space anyway.
Any issues with collapsing the can under cyclone?
Nice build. I also did something similar. 👍👍👍
A+, fantastic upgrade
Thank you!
Do you think a plastic trash can lid could be attached to the cyclone to save some plywood? Maybe the same mounting tape treatment could ensure a seal? Thanks for the build.
Hi there, I believe a person could definitely try the plastic lid that comes with the trash can. As for me, I found it too thin and flimsy, so I opted for the plywood. It's definitely worth a try, though, if a person wants to give it a go.
Can you provide info on alcohol dispenser?

Thanks for the comment. What are you promoting so much?
I have a wynn filter and I use my 18v blower to clean it. High volume air low pressure. Does a great job. I have a version of this design. I like some of the things you did and plan on updating my setup.
Great idea with the blower. Thanks for the idea 💡
Lee, this is such a great design! I'm a firm believer that everything in the shop should be on wheels. Thanks for taking the time to answer questions and show your upgrades to the system. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for your support 😀
I didn't expect a video response but so glad you did!
Glad to be of help! Thanks for chiming in 😀
Thanks for taking the time to actually answer questions thoroughly.
Thank you!
Great information Thankyou
Thank you, and you're welcome 😊
Great demonstration. I have a few questions: Is it still convenient to change out the filter of the canister when you need to? And are the latch clamps enough to keep the lid of the grey container secure? Also, do you get any collapse/imploding of the grey container from the suction when it's on? I'm definitely planning to do this but without the mobile enclosure.
Thank you @danimal29 :) Regarding the filter canister, yes I would say it is easy to disassemble when needed. With the latch clamps, yes, so far so good with those. The grey container has not imploded on me yet, even at full suction with my hand over the end of the hose. The container has behaved well. I did have to remove the self-adhesive gasket from the grey container, as the adhesive was not adequate and the seal squeezed away from the lip of the gray container. To fix this, instead applied foam camper mounting tape to the underside of the round plywood lid that contacts the gray container. I should have done that way in the first place. I'm going to see about doing an update video to advise of that change. I can talk about inspecting the Wynn filter canister too. Just let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again, -Lee
nice build tip from an old joiner/builder remove that ring when working in the shop good way to loose a finger when lifting timber or can catch on something seen a few lost that way and once was the rule remove all rings when in the trade ,take or leave your choice but what i have is a life time of experience .,advice to any that may be watching .
Thanks for the advice 🙂
Well done, it was enjoyable to follow along. Thanks for posting, we will look forward to future projects.
Thanks for the love ❤️
Grab a used table saw. I got a free ‘portable’ delta that will take a dato set for free. But you can pick one up for under 50. I really want a shopsmith 5
Nice! I'm a little floospace constrained, but I believe Dewalt makes a jobsite table saw that'll take a dato set. It might fit right in where the current Hercules saw is going to go in this new workbench.
great video. Thank you
Thank you!
Cool video

You should be nore prepared and more diligent. Try thinking of what yoy should do
Do you have any specific examples of where one could be more prepared and more diligent?

Don't buy communist Chinese tools!
Nice work Lee! I really like the addition of the cyclone separator and better filtration of the exhaust air. Looks like it should do a good job for you...let us know how it works when you have it connected to your tools.
I like this build as it resembles the build im starting next year exept mine is going to be a corner cabinet. I hadn't considered using the casters but ill surely snag that idea. Is that cyclone large enoug for your fan? How many HP/kw on your fan?
Hi @Tendo8002, thanks for your question. This cyclone 🌀 is rated for 0.5hp to 3.0hp systems. My particular fan is a 2hp unit. Here is a link to the cyclone used in this video www.oneida-air.com/dust-deputy/dust-collector-kits/super-dust-deputy-4-5-inch-cyclone-separator
@@Lee.M.Easton Thanks for the reply! I'm at 1,5hp so that sounds like a good cyclone for me! I'll give it a try and copy just the right amount from your build 😉
Nice build here with legit advantages using readily available parts. Thanks for the instructional overview👍

That's about what I do with my recurve, which is why I prefer my compound. I'm better at 40 yards with my compound, than at 10 yards with my recurve. 🏹🤠👍
Two weeks of consistent work, and a bit of guidance from a qualified instructor I bet you can get to shooting 10 inch groups at 10-15 yards with a recurve
