    8:12 the way to get the lag bolts perfect is to take a pencil and draw the hole, using the metal leg (from the motor) as your stencil. You’d be drawing onto the wood bracket you just cut. You’ll of course need to scoot the motor away so that you can then drill the hole, but it’s the best way to place holes in critical spots.

    I like your arrangement but it makes me wonder how much dust gets to the filter since you removed the OEM "separator" from the equation. I just have a canister in place of the filter bag on mine and I dont know how much those really do for the finer dust in reality. Judging by the amount of dust that gets in my filter I dont think it does much so probably wouldn't help to leave it in the system somewhere but I am still curious. Do you get much dust in the filter and its bucket? What is your routine for cleaning the filter?

      I had noticed that you had changed the Barrel to a trash can container I was wondering how the seal is doing because if it has any leaks at all it'll put dust back through your filter I'm just curious how the camper shell gasket was keeping it sealed up

    I think I'm going to model my harborfreight 2hp dust collection build on your and PatriotDIY's builds. Your rolling closet setup is SUPREME and the way to go; Patriot's usage of the Thein collector is the only part I like better than your upside filter setup. Thanks for showing it with the excellent sense of humour you have.

    Excellent video all around Lee. well thought out, practical & easily reproducible. Also thank you for listing all the parts need. I will be applying our build to my shop. Looks to be about $1000 in costs + time+ materials. Q’s: 1) are there any loud vibration noises or rattling of the cabinet or components caused by the impeller when it’s running? Solving the decibel problem is important with DC. 2) do you know if the 34” filter comes in a smaller length as I have a space constraint? I poked around their site but no luck 3) can you provide a demo of it in action/performance to get a good feel for it? Cheers mate

    This is exactly what I was looking for--modifying the HF collector into a 2-stage system in a mobile base. With all due respect to the wall mount mod guys, it seems that the geometry of the HF guts requires using a corner wall. I simply don't have a corner like that available. Having said that, I may use your basic idea and mount it on some available wall space anyway.

    Do you think a plastic trash can lid could be attached to the cyclone to save some plywood? Maybe the same mounting tape treatment could ensure a seal? Thanks for the build.

    • @Lee.M.Easton
      @Lee.M.Easton 9 місяців тому

      Hi there, I believe a person could definitely try the plastic lid that comes with the trash can. As for me, I found it too thin and flimsy, so I opted for the plywood. It's definitely worth a try, though, if a person wants to give it a go.

    Great demonstration. I have a few questions: Is it still convenient to change out the filter of the canister when you need to? And are the latch clamps enough to keep the lid of the grey container secure? Also, do you get any collapse/imploding of the grey container from the suction when it's on? I'm definitely planning to do this but without the mobile enclosure.

    • @Lee.M.Easton
      @Lee.M.Easton 11 місяців тому

      Thank you @danimal29 :) Regarding the filter canister, yes I would say it is easy to disassemble when needed. With the latch clamps, yes, so far so good with those. The grey container has not imploded on me yet, even at full suction with my hand over the end of the hose. The container has behaved well. I did have to remove the self-adhesive gasket from the grey container, as the adhesive was not adequate and the seal squeezed away from the lip of the gray container. To fix this, instead applied foam camper mounting tape to the underside of the round plywood lid that contacts the gray container. I should have done that way in the first place. I'm going to see about doing an update video to advise of that change. I can talk about inspecting the Wynn filter canister too. Just let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks again, -Lee
