There will be a conflict of interest if a Pharma sponsors Diabetes Australia. Konrard is is very eager to ask people to use medication instead of emphasising the fact that Diabetes can be reversed with a low carb diet, exercise and fasting. Can you ask the Australian government to sponsor you so that more people will trust you. Is Konrard a real doctor? He said cholesterol is used as energy when glucose is exhausted (33:30). I am not a doctor, but a simple google search can reveal that cholesterol is not used as energy but used for creating cell membrane etc. Konrard said that high blood triglyceride occurs when people eat too much saturated fats. But for most people the main reason is too much carbs. The excess carbs is converted to triglyceride by the liver. Therefore, it is more important to reduce carbs in the diet. Actually we should eat high fat diet because we want to eat less carbs. This will make you more insulin sensitive (as fats cause negligible insulin production). Another important point no (expert) talks about is the insulin level and insulin resistance. It is very important to test the insulin level earlier. If you do this, the insulin resistance can be revealed decades earlier. Please read the books by Jason Fung ('Diabetes Code', 'Obesity Code).

I think there is much confusion around what is possible as Type2 or pre Type 2, You can manage your blood sugar and be off medication quite quickly, say three months (based on claims) by some form of very low carb diet, certainly game the indicators like Blood Glucose and HbA1c. The question I have is in crashing those indicators back to normal and losing the 15KG, hence entering a state that might be called remission by some, can you eventually return to a somewhat normal diet? with the occasional bowl of pasta, 4 pints of beer or Giant half baguette Sandwich ? Or is it just a matter that you are on the low carb regime (of one sort or another) for life. Much of the confusion comes from evangelist (politicized) champions of a strict Carnivore vs Herbivore. approach. I suspect the answer might be a qualified yes, but you still have to stay very low carb day to day, and not put back on the Weight.

While your GP repeats that a blood glucose level of 13 is pre-diabetes and wait to do anything until officially being the right number how can you be anything but sick. Then some years later, as a side note to another health issue, you are on two forms of “sugar” medication with serious consequences. I’m at the point where there is so much information, most of it out of date, that I don’t know what to do. But basically it seems to aim to medicate for the carbs you will have instead of increasing protein and decreasing carbs. That’s my next adventure before diabetes ruins my quality of life. Good luck. Stop kidding yourself that if you’re slightly overweight it’s nothing to worry about. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I'm surprised nothing was mentioned about Community Health & diabetes educators (this service includes dietitians, if needed). Is this service not national, not in SA? How was it that the good gentlemen went to 3 different GP's & was never referred to Community Health & a diabetes educator? A good system is where the GP does the routine health checks, test referrals and diagnoses, & coordinates with specialists, clinic nurses, Community Health for applied health care services, ie referrals to dietitians, diabetes educators, physiotherapists, counsellors, etc. Well that's how it works in my area - ie it's not the GP but specialists in their fields that provide the applied health care services.

The REAL Elephant in the room is that Big Pharma and Big Food are the primary obstacles in reversing chronic diseases as it impacts on their bottom line. They are unscrupulous to the extent that they will capture Health Authorities, Diabetes Associations and GP Guilds to cast doubt on proven Low Carb and Keto Diets and get their paid stooge Doctors to fear monger the “dangers” of Keto with fabricated evidence, reminiscent of the time when despicable Doctors accepted bribes to advertise cigarettes for the deplorable Tobacco Industry.

The disease simply tells us that we were never intended to eat carbohydrates, sugars, and industrial seed oils, and continuous snacking. If we accept that those aspects of eating are the causes of prediabetes and diabetes type 2. To live healthily, we simply cannot engage in those practices. Medications that control the high blood sugar and hyperinsulemia do not cure the disease. Surely people realize that! It is a disease of lifestyle and diet!

I started an ultralow carb ketogenic diet 7 months ago. My HgA1c is now less than 5.5 (34mmol) but I remain on metformin for its long term health benefits . I’ve lost over 34lb. My triglycerides are now in the normal range suggesting that I no longer have non alcoholic fatty liver disease. This is a lifestyle change for me and I now eat only real food and don’t ever eat processed food. My lipid profile has improved and my blood pressure is 110/60 which is not bad for a male in their 60s. My sleep has improved, no snoring and I feel energised. I’m. No longer a couch potato. My resting heart rate is now 55/min sinus rhythm. I really think this is a breakthrough for patients with type 2 diabetics. I have another 50 lb to lose to get to my ideal weight. Having a cGM has been a game changer for me. I’ll never eat porridge or supermarket bread again. Pasta and rice are also out. I make keto bread once a weak. Tastes delicious and if I freeze it it lasts the entire week.

Metformin for health? Check around the keto research community. This was originally advocated by Dr Sarah Hallberg at IU (later at Virta). But Prof Ben Bikman and others have since pointed out that the basic mechanism of metformin is inhibition of mitochondrial function. Given the major metabolic benefits of ketosis, the added benefit of metformin might not be as valuable as previously believed. Anyway, poke around and see what you can learn. Every patient is unique, so just be sure to get advice from keto-knowledgeable physicians.

I don't know where they get this word ‘remission’ from. They need to properly define the word and define it in a way that the word differs from simply being cured of a condition, disease or whatever, or to distinguish it from that the condition has simply gone away. Using the word remission suggests that they still somehow have the condition. But where's the evidence? If I'm a fat person and I lose weight and become a thin person, have I now become a fat person in remission? Maybe when I was fat I was a thin person in remission? To listen to these muddle-headed medical people, I guess so.😅

Are my plants "in remission" from soil-induced "disease?" In fact, was it a disease in any meaningful sense of the word? No. They were mistreated and suffering for it. Now they are well cared for and healthy. "Oh, but are they realllllly healthy? What if we put them back in the bad soil?" That's the stupidest criterion of health I can imagine. These people are not "cured" because they are suffering a food-related toxic reaction, not a disease. Johnny has food poisoning. If he stops eating spoiled peanuts, is he "cured?" Spare me.

Diabetes is about self management and education to say doctor’s are not telling you about weight loss as a way to help your Diabetes is more about you not doing what you can do to help your Doctor help you by not self educating yourself.

So what is the point of GPs then if they are not going to provide proper advice? For all of them, the first action is to prescribe drugs, not to try dietary and lifestyle changes. That is wrong and blaming patients is not doing anyone a service.

Why don't they let us have a needle to change blood temperature. They're giving more rights to people selling meth then they are people who need a way to make their blood keep moving when the heart can't heat the blood. I can get a meth pipe at my kids school but I can't get a needle to change my blood temperature to keep my blood circulating in my legs when the heart can't push the blood in my legs
