I sing with the ORS Youth Choir, and was delighted to see this performed live. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this hypothesis, but I feel certain that "Ritual" was, at least in part, inspired by Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery."

I am so excited that y’all are doing this work. Santiago is probably my most favorite 19 minutes of music yet, and gosh does it sound fabulous in your voices.

What a delight to hear this presentation. Joan, he is so correct, your works look simple but they are not. The are however so inspiring - your texts of your stories are so moving and always have been. I have Great admiration for your writing and the deep thought that goes into your work. Thank You! The Dark and the Light struggle, tension and release of a musical line and the difficulty to stay humble while we present strength is - well a life long struggle. You mentioned gratitude and I think it starts there. I pray we can all learn the lessons that each piece of beautiful music can teach us: order, creativity, complex phrasing, mathematical combinations of vibrations that set to the text in the right way - spill out life.
