Amazing video! Congratz
Summit height revised to 4810 meters now :)
Please don't fly drones in national parks they are banned
The hole you found last was your first flat. The first holes you found were pinch flats from too low of air pressure and the tire bottoming out on the rim with the tube in between. If you didn't know.
How long it took you to climb from tête rousse to goûter hut ?
It took me just over 2 hours
@@fatnomad ok thank you sir.
I want to do this next year but climb all 37 volcanoes in Guatemala, great video of the 7 you climbed 🤘🏽🌋
@@chasebrian4096 good luck!
Did you bring bear spray on the smaller roads and trails? Id be worried about surprising a bear and getting chased
@@bobsyourknuckle I did have bear spray, luckily I never had to use it!
Where did you cross the border ????🎉
@@natema9352 at Puerto Palomas
Where did you do the aclimmatation?
@@reborn3530 I didn't do any acclimatization. I was in very good physical condition and based on other trips I don't suffer very much at high elevations, thankfully
@@fatnomad Which VOmax2 did you have?
@@reborn3530 I don't know how accurate the Garmin V02 Max is but I had low to mid 50s
at 3:00 Rough stuff... Food poisoning on the mountain. I think you felt safe the entire time in Central America, but was it safe generally? We get such biased info here in the US. Anyway, had to add a comment since there were so few (come on cycle tourist!!! ... Support this talented rider like you support Iohan, Allee, and Simon / Forestry Forest!). You truly do fantastic work Marshall... Tony, Carbondale, CO, US of A.
Yes, I found it to be very safe, I never ran into anyone wishing to cause me problems and repeatedly came across the kindest people
On my second / third watching of your videos. I have to say that you rank up there (as in equal imo) with Iohan, Simon (Forestry Forest) and Allee (sp?). Perfect video work. but more important to me, super entertaining. You do good work! Thx, Tony, Carbondale, CO
Thank you very much!
at 7:40 or so... the helicopter ride... I used to work (kind of) for a very large Internet Hardware company (rhymes with San Francisco) and to say I had free rein on expenses is an understatement. My customers were rural Telephone Companies and AK (and the entire ski / mountaineering west) was my playground! So on one trip I hired a sight seeing plane to take us / customers / Senior Systems Engineers over a route very similar to the one you took...
@@agmartin2127 that's awesome!!
Just love your commentary and light sense of humor >>> you should have 500k subs... and likes... 1+ here. Thx for the stickers. Tony, Carbondale, CO.
PS... used to be a WW Government Sales Manager for a big Japanese camera company that sold internal inspection equipment (think endoscopes but for engines, pipes, welds, cracks, and so on...). The North Slope Oil companies needed our stuff to save money to inspect their equipment. Anyway, even back then, I used my / that position to travel to cool places to help them, and to help me, to explore... which I did! A lot... Like a personal paid travel service so to speak. Had a great time to say the least. So I've been to the North Slope a ton, and Fairbanks, and Anchorage, but not the in-between... Now into bike packing for a few years now.... And I will go there based off your videos, guaranteed! Thanks Marshall...
I'm mostly enjoying your videos but between you putting your stickers on that mountaintop in Honduras I think it was and you taking over a handicapped washroom like you're special somehow and the rules don't apply to you I think you have a lot to learn about respect and being a guest in another country. You are the worst kind of traveler and why people don't like American tourists.
Did the Denali hwy 40 years ago on tandem with wife unsupported, tore up a tire. Tire choices were not great than! Had spare to get us to Valdez.
Only rode to arctic circle- 40 yrs ago -having worked up from El Paso over with multi week trips over four years. The Denali highway was the rough spot for me ( on tandem with wife).
Inspiring!
cotta be able to cook the feud
Hey one of the kids you spoke to at MA here 🎉
I stopped watching your video and won't be back. That's a total dick move on your part to occupy a handicapped bathroom all night.
And if you're not willing to pay to use the hotel's space, even their lawn, that doesn't make you a victim. You are irresponsible and a freeloader, nothing more. How many people in wheelchairs did you put out so you could pretend you're being screwed over by an oppressive establishment just so you could be cheap?
@ 4:23 My worst moment happened on the return flight from Peru in Oct. 2023. I ate some, unbeknownst to me, raw chicken and it was infected with Campylobacter, a very, very nasty bacteria. It hit me 2 days later about an hour before touchdown in Denver... same blast-off moment, but in a confined airplane! 6 days in bed, and thank god it happened in Colorado and not at 14k feet in Peru. Great for weight loss though. Love your content / channel...
I've watched all of your videos, and this one is my favorite. Chicken-stock, getting back and starting to re-finish the ride... all strong, good stuff. Know you have long life ahead of you with many of other types of adventures (marriage, family, more cycling / climbing, etc.), and hope you film and share them all.... Most of all, you have great style!
...And the rant at the end... way, way to funny!!! On the same page my brother ...
@@agmartin2127 haha thank you!
I'm doing this in early August and just starting watching videos and researching -- what time of year was this? Did you encounter any issues with crevasses (as it seems most people rope up)? Why did you have a harness on if you were going solo and didn't seem to use a rope to rap or anchor at any point?
I believe this was late August/early September. I didn't have any issues with crevasses although there was one that was visible that I went around. I wore the harness because I had it and thought just in case I need rescuing better to be wearing one, or if I found a group I could rope up with then I would be prepared.
@@fatnomad thanks for the reply. If you hike in the US at all I have a hiking channel too!
Well done. Thanks for the video. I’m thinking of climbing this for my 70th and your video gave me a good idea of what to expect. 👍
Good luck!
Seems a bit windy, but nice view.
This 100% on my bucketlist
adding, you absolutely made the right decision ....good friend of mine, a certified Swiss guide, died on a satellite peak, mt maudit, in 2012. to say he was experienced is an understatement, so yes, doing down when are by yourself and not roped was the best and safest move.
OK, I stand corrected. WOW, you did it! Man, intense video.... Congratulations!!
None of this stuff would ever fly in the USA... great job.
Dang! Finished this, the last video of your series, tonight. Will watch them all again for sure. Really hope you'll post more from the last 1/4 or so of your trip. Really enjoy your sense of humor, and of course the cycling and climbing content, and the scenery. FAVOR. (not sure where or how to ask for your excellent Q&A sessions) - What did you do for a living, and will you go back to that or maybe go into Show Business? Tony, Carbondale, CO
A "Key' adventure ... question (and sorry if i missed this...) but did you / do you know how to speak Spanish? Luckily, Google Translate now has Spanish as one of ten or so languages you can download to your phone (the entire language, so no internet needed). Went to Peru in 10-2023 and that saved me (and them). Tony, Carbondale, CO
Nope, definitely could not speak Spanish before, but I can survive now... If they speak slowly
at 5:05 ... so Alee lives there? WOW, what a find... he's in the top 3 (now 4 with you) in my book with Ihoan and Simon / Forestry Forest. Alee did a great tribute to Ihoan after he passed away. Mind blowing for something like that to happen in the middle of Mexico...
He was living there when I rolled through, he's moved onto other bike adventures though
Funny story re stealth camping... in Utah, near Boulder Town, there was THE perfect view-camp site with east looking views of the Henry Mountains, up on a ridge after the Burr Switchbacks. But everywhere there were "Don't even think about it" type no-camping signs. I was on my touring bike and thought, no way anyone could ever see me. So I set up, camped, watched a movie, etc. It got dark, I got out of the tent with my headlamp on, and BOOM, flashing lights in the distance turned on, and a patrol car came speeding my way. For maybe 2 hours I expected to be arrested or something... nothing happened, but it got my heart rate going! Another perfect video. TM, C Dale, CO
Maybe take shots / short clips from your instagram Reels, do a little more narration, and post again? Maybe every 2 months or so? I'd guess most people (if they saw them) would like your videos. I / we do! Over time, views could add up. Tony, C Dale, CO
I definitely plan to get a little better with social media when I finish and have time for that kind of thing
You and your keys! I'm shocked you only have 18 comments (2-2023)... Anyone that (or who?) watched Iohan or forestry Forest needs to be watching all of your videos... all of the above, with some serious humor! Tony, Carbondale, CO, US of A
Way too funny Marshal! But until this video, I didn't know about the 'peaks' part... My friend here is a little slow! I'll also donate the the charity... Tony, enjoying your content in Carbondale, CO
Thank you so much!
Sir Marshall Attenborough, what was your favorite animal in Panama? Wow, lots of fun facts in this video. That 'water' crossing across the bridge in a lightning storm, the 11k+ hike, and to see a wild cat (movie reference to Meet the Parents and The Hang Over- ha), were all highlights. Man, you make great videos!
I think the sloth had to be the favorite! But there were so many to choose from!
Gosh, I had forgotten about the Griz attack there... assumed it was more of a mountain setting but those things roamed the plains way east of where the attack happened for thousands of years prior. I rode the "Wild West" route just west of of your route, thru Montana in the same smokey conditions in 2021 and didn't necessarily like riding through miles and miles of previously burnt timber in those smokey conditions. Anyway, love your since of humor and wishing you'd do some more UA-cam (longer form) videos again! Tony, Carbondale, CO
Wow, BIG 9K summit day. Great video as usual...
I think that's still the most elevation gain I've ever done in a day!
Which border crossing was this?
La mesilla from Mexico to Guatemala
I want to climb the Mont Blanc solo this summer and still have angst thinking about it. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Really, really enjoy your style... and love the light hearted sense of humor... good stuff! Tony, Carbondale, CO
Love your content and follow you on Instagram... understand its tough / time consuming to make videos, especially for what little UA-cam pays... but I really enjoy them, and wish you could make more (but understand why you don't, etc.). I got to meet Simon / Forestry Forest in person in Dec. 2023 and he lamented kind of the same sentiments ... that it took forever to make a video. Simon made his first van life video almost by accident and boom, something like 200K + views in a few days. Good bye bike, hello van! I put you right up with Simon and Iohan.... each of you are different in your styles, but you all share the same good style! I really get and enjoy your humor. Anyway, good stuff! Tony, Carbondale, CO
Haven’t heard from you; hope you’re ok
seriously such a hidden gem of a channel. scenery, editing, comedy--- all 10/10. you're awesome!!!
That means a lot! Thank you so much!
honestly great content, Ive seen documented bike tours on youtube of much much worse quality with 10x the views. im shocked you dont have hundreds of thousands. love the videos youre hilarious.
Thank you so much!
