Bruh, I respect your musical opinion, but I must point out that if you had paid closer attention to SU 1st song, especially during the run part for the trumpet section, you would have a much more even score

I wouldn’t even say one band had “better execution” in the fifth. ASU had one single instrumentalists that made one single mistake in one song and everyone talking about that as if their execution wasn’t as good as JSU the entire battle. ASU had more colorful arrangements to me and a more entertaining song selection which put them over the edge imo. Zero, I’d give it a tie. Too many biased folks who are scared to judge JSU the same way they judge other bands. Bama State’s baritones/euphs, mellophones, trombones, and sousaphones blew Jsu back to the band room. That announcer gots to go as well! If it’s loud enough to be heard over these 2 bands then the Jumbotron is turned up way too loud. Smh 🤦🏽‍♂️

My favorite song of the night was sunglasses. Also. That song "Weak". That song is allll the way plaid out. I'm soo sick of hearing bands play that song, and after how it was messed up tonight. Southern better rip it from their book, shred it, burn the pieces and scatter the ashed to the 4 winds of heaven to assure it's never played again. Even if they wouldn't have messed up. the selection along gave Jackson the win for that round.

daboom08, Love by Keisha Cole, affected SU. My freshmen year at JSU of 1975, we played Tennessee State. Daboom, played the O'Jays, "Stairway to Heaven." You can tell, the song affected the Aristocrat band of TSU. And during the 3rd or 4th quarter, the Boom played "Sideshow" by Blue Magic. Tennessee State University did not have a comeback.

You said every band doesn’t need Euphoniums, which I agree with, but Bama State has a mix of Baritones and Euphoniums.

Sol8d review. I felt AAM was solid but something was missing. Couldn't put my finger on it. JSU has been quietly tucking bands in for the night. LOL. I don't know who pissed them off but they coming for them.

HEY MAN. I hope all is well with you and the fam! Great review. You and I said the same thing on Alcorns third song, I think. We both said, "Interesting." My advice to Alcorn is get away from "Get Away" and whomever is writing this music. To me, the music didn't "fit" the band. They need to play within their size, but the arranger need to keep that in mind while penning their songs. JSU did their thing. That "I Love Your Smile" was my favorite. Be safe and stay blessed.

Man oh man. To me TxSU never really recovered from little miscues in the first selection. They tried to bring it back with the next song but something just took their hearts. Just WOW.

daboom08, my man 50 grand! Sorry, I've been a little behind. You know, this life thing always has something instore for us. LOL. I hope all is well on your end. NOW, as always, love your insight. JSU had me with Candy Rain. SU might have won some favor if they had come back with Kissing Game ( I love that song 😂). JSU takes this one. In my opinion, both sides had stumbling moments. JSU didn't have many and recovered quickly. SU had too many noticeable moments that couldn't be overlooked. Lastly, did you catch that Disney "When You Wish Upon A Star" at the end of Wishing On A Star? You are right, the ending wasn't needed, but I liked the way they worked that in. JSU sound so clear! They executed AND were entertaining. Very nice. SU was good, but had a lot of errors.

I think JSU took this one. Not necessarily because they blew Southern out the water or anything, but SU trumpets were either non existent or stayed pinching off flat or ghosted notes for the WHOLE event. And some flubs from trombones and euphs in the later rounds didnt help. Its too late in the season to have that happen especially for a program of SU's caliber. Apart from the first mix SU did (way too long for a head to head battle), song selection was about even for me. Jsu just had a cleaner overall sound in my opinion.

Tubas sounding muddy on swamp is kinda funny. Can argue its supposed to be muddy, lol

I don't know about "revenge" but SU did just enough to win IMO. This was a solid battle. SU's Boogie Oogie seemed a little fast but TxSU's Ready Or Not did drag. TxSU's Shame I felt didnt need the entire intro to the song because it is already recognizable. That is what gave SU the edge to me. @daboom08 great insights as always. Looking forward to the next one.

Some of y’all are too young and new to the band world to have opinions. You all think TxSU just started having a band and dance line is crazy. TxSU and dancers are suffering from identity crisis. And SU and Dolls have and will always be the standard.

I think it's a good thing that SU is feeling good about their supposed get back. They had a couple of colorful moments. I also think this proves that they have learned their lesson and won't be taking TSU lightly ever again. Love both bands. SU should also remember the get back goes both ways so I'm already looking forward to this meeting again next year!

They say big things comes in small packages. The ocean sure does have a huge sound to be so small and im talking about surround sound.No section is slacking in that band.
