Gave myself another challenge by trying to dissect what's going on in this haunting classic from The Residents.
The opening chords, which reoccur throughout the song, seem to all be augmented chords, split up between two parts panned either side of the stereo image.
The next few bars have two parts:
An electric piano motif, skipping up and down in octaves;
and a high synth part playing dyads in the left channel, implying the opening chords again.
When the lyrics come in, they're accompanied by just the electric piano part. The vocals actually have an easily notateable melody to them at first, but become more conversational at "I was just exhausted from the act of being polite", so I just notated them rhythmically from that point.
Each time that the opening chords repeat, they're joined by the same high synth part that accompanied the electric piano at first.
The key is of course a bit ambiguous throughout the song, but at the end, the whole thing resolves to a B major 7th chord, which is why I settled on transcribing it in B.
