Dave waiting on his next meth fix over here 🤣
Hint, Winter time windshield washer fluid work's when your out of boost juice. The washer fluid has meth in it to keep it from freezing and is not as strong but definitely cheaper!
Thanks! I’ve heard it works haven’t tried it yet.
Clean build. I like it
Thank you!!
Can you update us with a new video? I'm looking seriously at stand alones such as VEMS and MaxxxECU, and would love your thoughts on the direction you took. Thanks!
Absolutely I’m well overdue for a follow up video.. stay tuned
Gave this idea a try but couldn't get the seal to budge since the push point is offset from center. Ended up fashioning a puller using threaded rod and a load spreader behind the seal (die from a craftsman tap/die set is the perfect diameter) combined with backup washer for the holding nut. On the pulling side use a large washer on top of the steering tower endplate (remove endplate o-ring for ease of sitting the plate while pulling). Worked a treat after 2 hours of head scratching and frustration. Thanks for posting.
Thanks dude , I was trying to figure bout how the controller worked on this kit
man I wish there was a more plug and play solution to the 30 YO 951 ecu. I've been looking at vems but I know absolutely 0 about the software
The problem with plug and play stuff, is these cars are now 30-40 years old… the engine harnesses are bad, cracked and shorting out, best thing I did was make a new harness when I installed the microsquirt. Car runs like a dream, smooth
@@dgpgarage9291 I think that’s my only option going forward
Thanks for this. Doing my rack this week. Unbelievable how many folks have shared knowledge and experience on this. The google is my friend...
Follow up vid soon?
Absolutely!
I’m having trouble getting the seal out of the long bronze tube too
Do you have data how the increased intercooler helps and how does it fit?
Annoying af.
What is?
Thanks for this. About to start this job along with oil pan gasket and rod bearings. God help me!
I ended up sandwiching a universal trigger wheel, drilled my own crank bolt holes and making a mount to re-use an oem sensor. I have an early so I also used a vw buggy axle trigger wheel for my speed. I wanted to switch on my wmi with the ecu, but just have not gotten to it.
That’s basically what I’m going to be doing for a trigger
I wanted to use a microsquirt initially, I cannot recall why I went with an ecumaster in the end. Might have been the ecumaster documentation. Was so over VEMs and the lack of good reference.
Cool Did the same thing on my turbo just went a different route. Still a MegaSquirt but I used MSPNP box for the S2 with an S2 harness and flywheel made the installation almost plug n play.
How do you like it?
That’s funny because anytime I see you I megasquirt.
Very nice car
Thank you!!
Good to see you back 🙏🙌
Who films in 4:3! What’s this the 80s.
what maf kit did you get? also what is the best chip for these cars nowadays, rouge tuning or vitesse?
Running the m-tune maf kit, with a moates ostrich tuner and logger
@@dgpgarage9291 where can you buy that kit? it’s not working on the rouge tuning website?
@@Kevin.OBrien44 here ya go, but the tuner and logger from moates are no longer available so you can only use what’s on the maf chips www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/MAF-951.html
"Fix" the actuator and get 50hp...
Could you make me one for a 94 Crown Victoria
If I had one to test on sure
Nice clip
Beautiful
Thanks!!
Yeah man, keep on doing a great job like you do.🏎️💨💨....I just finished restoring mine 944 N/A, hope to 951 swap it soon!!
Thanks man!! Keep Us posted on your build
I will most likely never own a 3D printer but getting a shape for a part serves me two ways as grandson need cast replace frequently during his life. We hang as I work on my "LS" & 67 C10. Very interesting! I know that these Chinese polished aluminum cold air kits are simple gaining heat. Wrong material as they look cool, but if they check temps on the pipe, they would find heat gain as it is heat soaked. I enjoy learning at any age as I was holding tech seminars for GM in upper Midwest. Thanks. DK. ASE Master Tech since 78, retired.
Can you share the part number for the pipe that you used for the air intake?

why not go with a standalone like Maxxecu when u done som much work
It’s in the works, so far I’m running a tunable M-tune system. Eventually I’ll go over to maxxecu but I’m waiting for the drop in harness to be completed
Nice car!
Thanks!! She’ll be back on the road soon! With more power!!!!
Update, added 3 more jets
Hi, would you sell the exhaust angle pieces you printer? I’m interested
Hey Vammy, they are free on thingivers all you need is a 3D printer here is the file www.thingiverse.com/thing:2053049
😡 𝔭𝔯𝔬𝔪𝔬𝔰𝔪
Knock should be fairly simple. You would have to do some signal conditioning and then use software interrupts. Also look into the esp8266, less i/o but has wifi capabilities.
How are they comared to the "big" one from Catcams?
I’m not sure what the specs are of the Catcams, I know this camshaft is about as much lift as you can go without needing modifications
I've been thinking about ways to build an Arduino-based data logger for my 951. It's theoretically simple to tie into signals to the DME for rpm, AFM %, knock, etc., and add extra sensors for boost and WBO2, but collecting the data and/or displaying it in a readable way seems more challenging. I was going to explore using the Arduino to convert signals to serial data and then using Excel serial monitoring to collect and display the data. My problem is too many projects and ideas and not enough time!
Definitely sounds interesting! If you get around to it definitely make a video I’d love to see it. I know speeduino uses Tuner studio to display and log… might be something you could integrate easier using that software
Great tip! Do you install the seals dry or wet? If wet, do you use power steering fluid or assembly lube?
Everything has been installed dry. I suppose you could install wet but it would be extremely messy, dry should be ok since your not using the rack until it’s on the car with fluid pumping. On these cars ATF fluid is best
Just in time for my rebuild! How long was the removal process for the whole rack
Hey Aidan, wasn’t bad getting it out, I had to do an oil pan gasket so the rack had to come out anyway, taking your time it would probably take an hour or 2 to get it out, hardest part is the steering shaft knuckle, otherwise it’s just a couple bolts and lines
Is the inside of the pipe smooth? Rough? If so, can you give a description about how smooth or rough it is?
Hey, it’s definitely textured inside the tube, feels like a arm cast would feel, I haven’t tried but you could probably sand it smooth. I don’t think the slight texture is enough to effect performance
@@dgpgarage9291 I think you can brush on some epoxy and sand as needed. I might look into doing this honestly.
@@jleo92488 let me know how it goes! I’ll be revisiting this soon, I just ordered some carbon fiber sleeves
I’ve made several CF intake pipes from blue construction foam melted away with acetone before getting into 3D printing. If you printed the pipe in ABS (221F glass transition temperature) I think you would be ok. Air is constantly moving though it that would also have a cooling affect. Nice build project.
Thanks for the advice, I need to get back in this project!
Is lindsey racing still an active source for these cars, and still in business.?
It sure is
@@dgpgarage9291 Thank you.! I've been trying very hard to reach them and find out becuz I found an '83 with low compression and a dead cylinder for $1000 obo and want to rebuild it.. I'm new to these cars, but have always wanted one.. When I found the car, I did a search to see if it was worth even attempting and they came up.. Now that I know for certain they are, I can't wait to get it and get started.!
@@geoffreygreenman699 there’s also a ton of other venders, 944online.com is one of my favorites for parts, they are fast and accurate
@@dgpgarage9291 Awesome.! Mike from Lindsey Racing actually got back to me rather quickly also, reassured me they are still kicking, and even had some pointers for me in regards to mine.. And thank you.! I will check this link out you gave me as well..
Do you have any experience with the 3-inch downpipe from Speed Force Racing?
Speed force I did not have, but from what I’ve head is about the same quality as the Fabspeed unit
👀 👍🏼
Had a Lindsey 3" exhaust on my last 951 that I sold 2 years ago. I always thought that slip on coupler set up was stupid and lazy of LR
100%, they did it cuz it was cheap and easy.
Perfection
First
But copper nuts will back off in time ... Stage 8 locking nuts I would suggest
That is a good looking down pipe 👍
Nothing but too quality
Wow!
I feel the same way!
Watching this video I think my 944 Turbo has that Lindsay racing blow off valve I wanted to replace it but now I know I really want to replace it I was thinking either tial or HKS
I haven’t checked out the HKS units yet, Tial is great
@@dgpgarage9291 Went to the shop and saw mine is a TurboXs blow off valve. Looks just like this. Has a 2 stage boost controller. Need to figure out how it was installed and how it's set.
@@Pixels_And_Petrol open it up would love to see pictures of the valve
@@dgpgarage9291 I probably will since I want to change the valve to sound different anyways. This one is boring and sounds like someone drinking a glass of coke.
So what did you get with another degree advance? Didn’t see an update.
Hey! So after about 2 degrees advanced valve timing, we saw no improvement and actually saw air flow drop off based on our MAF voltage log
