Props and Model Works
Приєднався 29 лис 2022
This channel is for those who are interested in props and model kits from video games and scale models of vehicles in both famous TV/movie series and other media. My favorite Video games include Total war Franchise, Warhammer both 40k and Age of Sigmar, RPG's and many more. I plan on doing various builds with different materials, some I'm familiar with and others I am not so this will be a learning experience but try to do the best and put maximum effort into each build to make it top tier.
THIS is what the Prime Tyranid could look like (WH40k)
Just a quick video of a Tyranid Prime being built and painted.

In this video i build and paint my first expanding army set with the Space Marines Assault intercessors, i wanted to try spray painting my mini's instead of using the paint I picked up from the first pack of warhammer box. The paint is a bit off and was still okay with the lighter blue instead of the dark blue that came with the pervious pack, i also used this can of paint for a shield that i m...

In this quick video I will be building and painting some warhammer 40k models from the the introductory set which includes 5 Infurnus space marines, 11 Tyrandas (10 Termagants, 1 Ripper swarm) a standard paint brush, 5 paints, 1dubble sided play mat, 6 dice, one 12 inch ruler, and a pair of starter clippers. In my opinion I found this bundle to be quite adequate for a beginner to start their wa...

Crafting a Foam Warhammer Axe: A Step-by-Step Tutorial
knocking over GW paint is a classic tradition
I knocked over Balthazar Gold once... Total nightmare
Contrast paints are a great tool, but when you're using them try not to hit the same spot with the brush more than once while it's wet. The contrast paint shows brush strokes, so hit an area once and then move on, come back when its dry to kinda lower the visibility of rhe strokes. I hope that made sense, its hard to word. Psychophage is looking mighty scary!
Appreciate the heads up! Will make sure to handle those contrast paints better next time.
@@worksofwonders from what I could see you handled them fine, it was a lesson I had to learn the hard way with a lot of Ork Boyz 🤣 you mentioned you hadn't used the contrast paints before so I just wanted to give a lil tip!
You have improved a lot. Still you need to prime it. You can buy a primer Citadel in a rattle can. You just spray your model in a color of your choice (most common is black). It will make your minis more resistant from the paint being scraped off the model. Other than that, you have improved cause I couldn't see mold lines in this one and the paint job looks smoother/thinner. Good job!
Thank you for noticing the improvements! Believe it or not I did prime it before i started painting, but a few areas got missed but they were mostly hidden spots or underneath the model.
@@worksofwonders maybe because of the light in the video I couldn't see. Also prime in a color that you are mostly going to paint your model with (for ultramarines prime them blue) makes it to paint so much faster.
Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind for my next painting session.
When I was a kid I had a DB5 metal car with the ejection seats and the flipping license plates and machine guns and hubs that moved in and out. It was very cool and I wish I knew where it went.
That's soo cool I wish they had that available still
Pierce brosnan is my bond. My father was a James bond film fanatic 😁
Pierce Brosnan is my second favorite, Daniel Craig third and Sean Connery in first.
Did you know that Brosnan was hired to play Bond in the eighties? His tv show, Remington Steele was cancelled and the Bond producers hired him for the role. Once the producers of RSteele caught wind they decided to exercise a clause in his contract that obligated him for another season, and so they hired Timothy Dalton instead. What could have been but wasn't, it would have been interesting to see him tackle the role a decade younger.
Introductory set is an amusing offering (paper walls are a nice throwback to the old times), but deeply flawed. If you have it, you wouldn't want any other starter paint sets - marines or tyranids - because you would get odd doubles of paints and, if you look at 'tools and paints set', a second premium-priced clippers. Also, while tyranids are fine with more gaunts, Space Marines would really want more variety rather than get another Infernus squad. Also, if I recall correctly, Ultimate set has thick cardboard gaming board, while other sets have thin paper mats.
Yeah they made some weird choices with these bundles and yes the ultimate does come with a thicker card board playmat. If the 1 extra unit of Space Marines and 5 other Tyranids are not enough the starter set is also just as good and can make due with making a thicker cardboard playmat DIY and DIY battlements. I don't mind doubling up on paint it just means i have more and wont run out as fast, if they would of included the a few other colours people would not have to buy the paint and tools set. They could how ever buy the paint for the faction separately at $50 for space marines and same price with the Tyranids and both come with a brush and three units(4 for Tyranids), and they still would have doubles of paint from the intro kit and still no red for the captain.
Nice informative video 👍
Prices for the three box sets are Introductory set: $88.47 CAD Starter set: $145.59 CAD Ultimate set: 263.19 CAD Paint set and Tools 63.98 CAD
Awesome breakdown! Would have liked to see the prices for each set, but still very informative.
Thank you, sorry about the lack of pricing in the video i made a pinned comment on the video with the prices.
Very cool I’m also looking into buying the starter set and I got a few questions. What’s in the box I mean like datasheets dice battlefield and that shit and secondly are there colors in the box or did you buy them separately?
In the starter set which is the mid tier option it has 38 models, Data sheets, guide book, dice and a battlefield. For the colors i had to buy the paint separately for red and a few others but i used the introductory set paints as it came with 5 paints , clippers and a starter brush.
@@worksofwonders thanks a lot
Looks amazing, I've never played warhammer and I have no idea how it's even played but I'm incredibly fascinated. Nice channel, keep it up!
Thank you! warhammer is played like a turn based style with different phases such as Command Phase Movement Phase Shooting Phase Charge Phase Fight Phase with the first basic set the introductory set they give basic way of playing with two people and the later sets give more advanced ways of play and expanding the strategy of your units.
Awesome!! I started warhammer 40k 8 years ago, with the ultramarines! I now play BT primarily and collect older models and a large quantityof newer ones, Can't wait for a video on the Tyranids!
that big box.... for just FUCKING 11 UNITS!?
In total 38 units space Marines: captain in terminator armor, 5 terminators, 5 infernus marines Tyranids: 1 Tyranid Prime, 3 Von Ryan's leapers, 1 Pychophage, 20 termagants, 2 ripper swarms
Also all of the rules, it's a pretty good set, I bought my first big starter set 8 years ago, I payed for half and a mate payed for the other, we split the space marines and dark eldar and we shared our rule books as we only played with each other! I now 3d print and certainly enjoy the luxury of printing direct scans for 50c-1 dollar for a model
Been in the hobby over 20 years. Great to see you getting into it! One suggestion, would be to use a primer next time. It gives you better coverage when applying base paint and layers and it makes the paint less likely to rub off when handling the minis. Otherwise you’re off to a great start
Great suggestion!
oh boy, where do I even begin... I can help you and give you many tips with explanation of why you need to do certain steps etc. Just please answer to this comment that you would like to hear them because I don't want to be rude or anything. I just learned a lot from my friends that were in the hobby and watched a lot of guides. (I started this hobby 1,5 year ago, still a noobie)
I would love to hear your comments and suggestions as i've just started this hobby, and am really enjoying it as well. Appreciate the support in any way shape or form, also welcome aboard.
@@worksofwonders firsty, I am going to direct you to these channels: Brushstroke Painting Guides Ninjon Trovarion Miniatures they will teach everything that you need (and far more) than I will ever be able to. so firstly, you need a hobby knife. It makes the life easier. Mold line remover (the metal blade that you have) is fine for removing mold lines and nothing else. Remove those moldlines, otherwise you are going to gave a visible thine line after painting your minis. It is useful to practically everything in this hobby. You can get rid of mold lines with a hobby knife (I do it). You can easily get rid of the left cut of parts of the sprue. And other more advanced stuff like cutting proxy etc. select which army you want to collect and if you want to play. IF you want to only collect, you can do whatever. If you want to play than this is a different story. CHOOSE ONLY ONE ARMY to start with. Now you have a few space marines and tyranids. Probably this would be a good idea to either start collecting those OR use these as your introdution to hobbying and focus only on one army. Choose the one that you would like to collect look wise or lore wise. WIth space marines it is also important to check what are the different chapters (their rules vary!!!) You have now the Ultramarines but maybe you would like to collect Imperial Fist? for gaming rules, don't buy codeces unless you want to read the lore in them. They get outdated so fast that it is not worth it. Wahapedia is a free webpage that has all, up to date rules for Warhammer 40k and more. It has everything that you would ever need to be able to play the game rules wise. Before you paint any of your models, you need to apply the primer. There are a few reasons to why. Firstly, it will make the paint stick to thee model much better and make it scrach prove (it will make the paint stick to the model much better). Secondly, it will cover and make almost unvisible the sweat that you might have left. This is also connected to the first reason but additionally it also helps with the better coverage of the paint to the model. Thirdly (if this word exists xD), If you prime your models blue, you no longer have to apply the base color of blue (for the example of Ultramarines that you have painted) thus making the process much faster. Don't get overwhelmed by others and how they paint better than you. This can demotivate everyone but these people have been painting for a long time. Appreciate what you have achived/learned and after a while you will paint beautifully. THIN YOU PAINTS, this is a classing saying in this hobby. The White on the helmets is the perfect example. They look chubby, which means you have applied too thick paint. I recommed watching as many guides as you can to learn how to properly do it. (Brushstroke Painting Guides helped me the most but for you it can be someone else) Check how others paint the army scheme that you want to paint. This can very often teach you many hobby tricks or how to use properlly different types of paint or learn new painting techniques. Dry brushing, Contrast paints, shades/washes these are extremly important and useful tools to have. Learn how to use them and your painting skills are going to sky rocket. And to not overload you too much, there is my discord nichname: bziebzie so if you have any questions just write to me I might join you discord if you have any but I do not promise of sitting on it and reading it. PM I am always reading. Good Luck on your hobby and keep it going!! There is a lot that I would like to write but it would be way too much for now and you would have an information overload. The best what you can take from this comment is to always look for guides on UA-cam or just by asking people on social media for help (there are many wh40k rules and miniature painting once, I recommend joining them and showing off your progress as well as asking for help!)
Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out and help a fellow hobbyist, About the armies I decided to pick up the packs for Ultra Marines and Tyranids but mainly stick to the UM. The reason why I started this hobby was to branch out more for this channel and myself. Playing a game of WH40k is low due to the location and time but if there is a chance I'll play i might try it. There may be armies I might be interested in later and maybe just for show or display around my house or shop. I recently just saw the sprue nubs on my mini's so that is on the list of tidy up parts on the next set of cut offs and i agree with the helmets looking a bit chubby(lol) need to do better with thinning my paints. Ill take a look at that discord, at the moment my discord channel/user name is different from my UA-cam channel name and is a another YT name.
Very cool video to watch, love the detail work. incredible patience and skill required, good work!
Thats what we tell the ladies
"Serious about warhammer" Gaming is more fun than painting. Fite me.
The only citadel painting handle that I ever use regularly isn't even used for painting. I bought the small one that had the clamps and it's primarily used to prop up models while glue is drying in unusual places.
It's weird that they stop making that model in particular but more versions more money.
I got one of the large holders about 2 years ago for my 1st army (death guard.) I use it for priming and painting stuff and it works amazingly. Even holds mortarion. Im starting a world eaters army so it’s gonna see even more use :).
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it
This holders could be useful. My brother paints his gundam exia using a bamboo stick & duct tapes ❤👍
That's a great idea!
I recommend sticky tack over duck tape. More versatile and less likely to leave adhesive residue
Hey, great review! I saw these online and wondered if they are worth the buy. Definitely looks like it would save some time.
They are worth the money.
defo the dark blue. light blue could be a different chapter tho
Hi there, I've finished my 4 out of 5 battle sisters squad drawings. I would like to show you but UA-cam wouldn't let me post my Instagram account link on the comment, that's weird...
Hey that's awesome! Tag me on Instagram so that I can see it.
@@worksofwonders done it & followed you. I hope you'll like it 🙂
Great choice on music, it’s perfect for this content
Warhammer 40k is quite expensive in where i lived so i started to draw them in my sketchbook. Rn i drawing a squad of adepta sororitas battle sister & i completed 3 out 5 sisters.
Nice work on those sketches! Keep it up and you'll have a full squad in no time!
I'm planning to draw a canoness, a sharpshooter, a point woman, a rear security personnel & 1 heavy storm bolter squad support gunner. I've completed the sniper, rear guard & heavy squad automatic gunner.
That sounds like an impressive lineup! Can't wait to see the finished drawings.
cool video ,amazing channel subscribed 👍👍👍
nice video. u may want to prime your models in the future as it helps the paint stick to the models
Thanks for the tip
i started in 2023 with Orks. You fucking rule take my subscription
Thanks mate! Appreciate the subscription.
Really enjoy the new content idea. I think you should do more. These miniatures have amazing detail, must be difficult to paint with precision.
Good shield.
Thank you
I love when people take something from a game and make it tangible
Thanks for the visit
Cool shield, the blue is almost a perfect match to the original game version
"PromoSM" 👏
Very cool, love the music behind your video. Keep it up friend.
