"One Family" by Year 6 IBDP Music HL Class 2022
In commemoration of our 136th Founder’s Day, 35th year of independence and 30th year at the Dover campus, the 2022 batch of Year 6 IBDP Music HL students, Fredrick Suwandi (6.16) and Wong Yan Shun (6.14), composed a song titled "One Family".
Inspired by this year's theme verse from 1 Thessalonians 5:11, the song serves as a purposeful reminder that we should support one another in all our endeavours. The music video, produced in collaboration with the Editorial Board, showcases the everyday lives of the students in school and highlights how we are bonded as one school, one family.
“It has been exciting to see the project come to fruition. Although there were challenges, the commitment and perseverance of all performers and crew have paid off.” - Wong Yan Shun, 6.14.
May this music video reach into the hearts of every ACSian as they reflect on the joyful experiences here and carry on our indomitable AC spirit! To God Be The Glory, The Best Is Yet To Be!

My God this is blatant, shameless plagiarism! This song is stolen from Canadian Alexander Muir's Maple Leaf Forever. The tune is exactly what Muir wrote in 1867. These guys have the gall to leave most of Muir's original lyrics intact. Unbelievable!!
My God this is blatant, shameless internet keyboard warrior commentary... I kid, my friend, take a chill pill. It was not stolen, the original composer sampled and referenced The Maple Leaf Forever openly. Yes the tune is pretty much similar but this has been done throughout history. e.g. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and the Alphabet Song (A B C D...) have the same tune. e.g. Dua Lipa's Levitating and a ton of other songs (Easy google search) Legally speaking , music wasn't a copyright and IP bonanza like it was in the day (1800s to 1900s) as laws and policies didn't need to worry about commercialization like in today's modern world. Imagine the school kids reading your comments without discerning wisely, potentially breaking their school spirit etc. I hope you would, in the future, have the empathy and EQ to realize that there's a time and place for everything, certainly this isn't the place to find conflict over issues that weren't issues in days past.
