I highly recommend reading "Nick Drake: The Life," the 2023 autobiography by Richard Moreton Jack. It's very detailed and documented, and will answer your questions.
He didn't have a girlfriend, or fiancé at the time ... Nor was he a heroin user.
@@storiesue1699 I know he was a tripper and smoked a lot of weed, and I also heard he had a bit of a fling on and off. but of all I’ve heard of nick drake and I’ve been down plenty of wormholes, I never heard about any heroin use or any real serious relationships that ended just before the making of pink moon, and you’d think if that did happen, it would seriously affect the way the lyrics are interpreted. I’m curious to know now
@@danaanm882 he had relationships but as far as I've read there wasn't any one in his life when he died.. But he was a mystery, who knows. Different books, different versions of the same story... He asked a female friend to marry him in his last year, but she declined. It's all sad, whatever happened.

I have only just discovered Nick Drakes music thanks to Spotify. What a talent! Such a shame to all our ears that he left this world so young. Unfortunately depression, like stress is a silent killer Thank you for putting this Documentary together to enlighten us a bit about this very talented yet mysterious musician.

Music is amazing isn’t it. I’m watching Russian Doll for the first time. I hear this song and I’m like wow !! What’s that ? Sounds amazing. Shazam…I’m listening to the song in more depth to hear he’s saying “let’s kill the cops to tonight”…then I think to my self..that’s quite a wild thing to say on a track🤔….then I go down a rabbit hole of research behind the track to realize it’s a metaphor against police brutality. George bush was on of many political people who was against this track at the time. Ice T backed this record saying it’s more of a protest record. Which I agree. Especially after seeing this video for the first time. Music will always be an extraordinary piece of art. I think what I like most about this track is the 80s sound. There’s just something about the 80s. The only artists I know of in this day and age doing this kind of sound is Casisdead. Listen to his song Park assist, pat earings, boys will be boys and Before this. Mariah the scientist also has a song called All for me. Argh that 80s sci fi sound. Undefeated.
