I promise that the brush I use in my videos is exactly the same brush you purchased for achieving that chalky look! It’s important to understand that your iPad supports pressure sensitivity, so to get the right texture, try using a lighter hand when applying pressure. The key is to loosen your grip and use gentle pressure while drawing ✍️ this will let the brush reveal its texture. This is exactly how I create my illustrations! If you press too hard, you’ll get a thick, solid line, but with lighter strokes, you’ll see the beautiful textured effect that gives it that authentic chalky feel. Try this technique, and I’m confident you’ll love the results!🥰✨

When I’m working with red, orange, or yellow tones, I usually choose a red shade for the shadows to create a more harmonious look. This helps the shadows blend naturally with the illustration’s overall tone. Sometimes, I’ll also switch the shadow layer to Multiply mode for more depth. The key idea is to ensure the shadows complement the colors in the piece rather than using a single neutral shadow for everything. It takes some experimenting, but it really makes the artwork feel more cohesive! I hope this helps!🥰✨

In case you’re seeing the red line effect, that’s because I change the layer mode to Color Dodge, which transforms the lines when I apply red over the entire illustration.
