just so you guys know, the search key does not need to be in the far left. You can set up the VLOOKUP using Arrays { }. For example: vlookup(D3, {$C$3:$C$6,$B$3:$B$6} ,2 ,0). I am telling vlookup an array of columns to look at and the order of which i input the columns between { & } is the order vlookup reads them. Then I just tell it to give me the answer based on the column order that I told it. I think is is a fundamental thing people need to learn so they aren't designing docs around vlookup instances. EDIT: To get { and } on a PC keyboard is "alt gr"+7 and "alt gr"+0. Should be similar on Mac. either our option or alt key should work with 7 and 0

How did you copy and paste that? I keep crossing format painter and then selecting the other cells but it’s not sticking. Can I make this every cell of B?

Thanks, it was what I needed but....after dragging my columns, I refreshed the data and it reverted back to original column sorting. Any way to lock the sorted columns into place so a refresh does not change them?

Excel is just designed to frustrate and annoy. It's hit and miss whether my columns will move. I'm convinced that Bill Gates made a pact with the devil, and MS office is the result.
