Hadn't seen this movie since around 2010, but had to come back after catching some clips of Billy Bob in the new Taylor Sheridan show "Landman." I remembered Billy Bob putting up a great performance here, and boy did my memory serve me well. This movie actually holds up a lot better than I expected it to. Great movie, great story, great acting from one of the most underrated actors I've seen. Gotta go back and watch this whole movie again.

To me and so many others, music is a universal language that transcends all boundaries; it reaches the soul when words are useless. Whenever I watch this scene, I always imagine that both sides are speaking to each other through their respective tunes; the tune of “Deguello” is the Mexican Army saying “ We have you outnumbered. Your deaths are imminent.” But as Crocket begins to play, you can almost hear the unspoken words from the fiddle, “we see you, and we recognize that our situation is quite precarious. We are well aware that many, if not all of us will die.” But at 1:40, those aggressive riffs are saying “but you best believe we are going to die fighting.” God Rest Davy Crockett and the Defenders of the Alamo.

I cry every time I listen to this music. And I LOVED the show, and I adored Anne. I truly wished that growing up, I had a friend like her, because we would’ve been soul mates. They finish meaningful programs, but keep the crap, it stays forever.

Brilliant! By playing his fiddle, Crockett not only demostrated harmony, that both people, though on opposite sides of the conflict, were still human beings and thus capable of harmony, but also showed defiance, as in even if they didn't have a chance at the end of the day, they still had spirit, and weren't gonna go out quietly.

Still here in 2024 🙋🏽‍♀️ such a beautiful melody ! By far the best scene in this movie ❤️

I don’t know if David Crockett played the violin? But if he did, I’m sure it was amazing and I believe he probably did do this during the time before the final battle🎻 and I think it was really good

THE best depiction of Davy ever

I liked how before Crockett played the masterpiece the Mexicans would bombared them with the canons every night till the last day of the Alamo defenders life until Crockett played it every was silent and no canons were fired after that Crockett’s words: it’s amaze what a little harmony would do.

That tune didn't exist at the time, though Crockett *was* a violinist and fiddled to drown out Deguello after getting tired of hearing it.

The sad thing in this movie. Jim bowie saying to that black man you’re my property til the day I die. That comes from the devil. Jesus/God did not create people to own other people as property. That’s the work of the devil. Jesus/God allow the Civil War to take place because he had to purge America of the sin of slavery. The majority of white people wanted nothing to do with slavery. It was a few that was listening to the devil. But even Black people throughout human history have had slaves. Indians of had slaves. Egyptian’s had slaves. Even today people in the Middle East have slaves. So don’t just point a finger at white people. God hates slavery.

Davy Crockett must've been the Eddie Van Halen of fiddle players.
