I remember they sold Eater chicks dyed in several colors. My Aunt Minnie bought me three qhen i was about 6 years old. We ahopped at the one in Thruway Shopping Center in Winston-Salem, NC.

There is still one in Abingdon, Va. We had one in Kingsport but it closed in the late 80's. My first real acoustic guitar came from there in the 70's

This place was incredible! The attention to detail was nothing short of amazing! I can't even imagine the amount of painstaking work that went into it. The flying saucers and cows were a great touch! It's very sad that it's all gone now. According to reviews, the original owner, Willi Lindhorst, lost his wife in 2015 and was no longer motivated to continue it. The new owners reopened it, but I think the problems were probably too much to overcome. In 2020-1 there were electrical problems and the trains were either not running, or there were only one or two operating at times. At the times they were having problems, the entry fee was not charged and they took donations instead. By November 2021 it was closed. The man you spoke with must have put in a lot of work to get things back up and running by the time you and Sir Daniel visited. They apparently still couldn't make it. It's very sad to see this place gone. I'm glad you and Sir Daniel went, and made this video. I enjoyed watching and seeing this incredible place! 😊💚 EDIT: I just looked up the original owner, Willi Lindhorst, and found he outlived both his first and second wives. I enjoyed this video. I found an American Flyer train set under the Christmas tree in 1958, and another one in 1960. In 1986 Santa left the same train I received in '58 under the tree for my son and we enjoyed running that train and my second one as we added more locomotives, cars, and accessories and build a series of layouts together. He still has all of that packed away, and I started over again about three years ago with American Flyer.

I remember roses stores. They had only 1 in Fredericksburg VA and my family shopped there all the time when I was a kid. They closed it down, demolished it, and turned it into a new building that became dorm rooms for the Mary Washington college that was in Fredericksburg VA. Thank you for this walk down memory lane of my childhood.

I live in Henderson NC where they founded I never new it was originally from here so it's sad when I heard that one of the two roses in henderson is closing growing up my Mom always took me to get toys clothes and many seasonal items
