Dialing in the Timing

Finally able to get the timing dialed in to 5* BTDC. Backed the idle screw all the way out and it idles around 700RPM. Turns out the distributor had two adjustment points.

Just hooked up the fuel tank. 1:43 engine falls on its face as I shift into 2nd and lose momentum. TIming is bad.

Got Starting Fluid?
Ran out. Started pouring gas down the carb to get it started. There's another video of it running a bit more. Now that it has a fuel pump, I was able to get the carb bowl full and it ran for 20 secs or so.
Nice sounding engine. Good compression, no galloping, no dead holes. Cool 4 banger
Coool
I'ts very good, very congratulations
good👍
No gear oul so yea its gonna be loud and look at the wear and tear looks like it was actually used with out any gear oil
Yep loud because of no 80w90. It stops the gear clacking.
wow!
get more gear. thats all ihev to say. good job down big S!
Yeah, that's pretty high on the list of things to do. I'd like to do an Atlas 4sp 10.34:1.
Thanks for uploading. Did you do the whole rubicon? What was the hardest part? I'm doing it this month the 23rd-26th. Any trail damage on your vehicle? I have a 4runner with full skids 33x12.5" tires.
There is a playlist of the whole trail from Loon Lake to Observation Point. I think 33's are probably the bare minimum I'd run. Gearing is more important though. I would have liked to have been running a 4:1 for more control but 2.72:1 wasn't bad. Not much before Lil Sluice was challenging. There is one spot in the middle of Lil Sluice that gets people but it's not hard. I have old school 3" shorty nerfs on my jeep which took a beating. I hit them hard enough for both sides to hit the body. I also flopped it at the vee groove but that was mostly my fault. (It's on video). Each video should give you a pretty good idea of what the trail is like since it's not edited for just highlights.
Great video. What are you driving?
