De popafdeling leidt spelers, schrijvers, producers, coaches en organisatoren op voor het topsegment van de hedendaagse muziekindustrie en zorgt ervoor dat zij zich snel thuis voelen in alle aspecten van de beroepspraktijk. Zorgvuldig geselecteerde talenten kunnen zich danzkij een innovatief lesprogramma ontwikkelen tot innovatieve, zelfstandige en professionele muzikanten met een eigen stijl, sound en visie. Zowel de bachelor- als de masteropleiding zijn als excellent beoordeeld.
De popafdeling is midden in het bruisende Amsterdam gehuisvest. Een ideale voedingsbodem voor studenten met internationale ambitie. Deze opleiding staat open voor gitaristen, bassisten, toetsenisten, drummers en vocalisten. Van studenten wordt verwacht dat ze nieuwsgierig zijn en uitstekend in teamverband kunnen functioneren. Elke student gaat intensief aan de slag met productie, songwriting en de zakelijke kant van de beroepspraktijk.

Pop & AEMA Open Day 2023
Big thanks to everyone who joined us at our Open Day on December 9th at the Q-Factory in Amsterdam! It was great talking to so many future students. Through our information sessions and concerts, we aimed to give a taste of what studying here is like. We hope you all left feeling inspired, well-informed, and thrilled about joining the POP/AEMA department next year. A huge shoutout to our teachers, staff, students, and alumni who helped make this day a success!

A trip of a clip. Love it. Melodic meanderings, some pedestrian, but pretty. Long, longing... Hypnotic. Then outburts of the driving spirit. Halfway, a subtle tribute to Doors and Pink Floyd influence - the whole era. Btw that (new?) drummer... looks like me. (though i played Mitch Mitchellish-er, or Jazzrock) Toward the end some Ian Dury, Alanis and Grunge undertones... (?) And ooo those fearsome female vocal chords again. Intoxicating! I am a fan now. Too bad the music business revolves less about music and original talent these days - judging by FM stations, being either boring or pretty old hat.
Makes me wish I was 15 again…
