Good to see and hear Coach Onigbinde again. He was an Outstanding domestic sport administrator and football coach NGR has ever had; especially in his days as Coach of our then beloved Water Corporation FC of Ibadan with our own son, Segun Fawumi as Captain, along with Alaba Oyeleke, Wale Odunayo, George & Ajagunta Clement Okoli, Martin Onwuachi, Sule Laoye, Start striker Zakari John etc. Baba Onigbinde is a national Gem. May he live long to become King of his beloved Modakeke town. Sugbon e ma so Yoruba!!!!!!!!!

Wished he lived in Nigeria and could still give those performances to an appreciative audience. Who does he perform for in East London 🧐

@ I know. It’s the reason I posted in those terms. In my view his position is like that of a Mark Twain relocation to Iyanfoworogi in his later years. Relevance is key to meaningful existence! It keeps you more sprite in your later to live among your own! Imagine him performing at UI, Senior Citizens Club at Secretariat in Ibadan et al

I could remember Uncle Tunji Oyelana playing his most Revere track " mò ló sò kó" at the University of Ibadan Staff club Christmas party...it was fun, back in the days....apologies ó, but why did he had to relocate to the U.k at such an old age? I'm a bit worried

Great piece! Wonderful to be given this memory jog on Tunji Oyelana whose great voice & music scintillated us through young adulthood. Only recently did a friend & I spoke about him in our reminiscences. I do hope all his songs are available on the web for his fans & the new generations to savour. Kudos

Can someone, please, tell me which of Uncle Tunji Oyelana's album has the song, "O ru ladugbo o mi rera x2ce, eniyan lo ragbo Yemoja o. Igba unfunny lori omi o, eni mo,we, ko jade o. Awa'rawa ri rawa o, x2ce. A pade ni maba sere o"!! I will greatly appreciate it 🙏🏽 Memories of his jams at the swimming pool area of the then Ogun State Hotel in Abeokuta, Nigeria, can't be forgotten forever. Uncle Tunji Oyelana is a grandmaster forever 🫡👍🏾🙌🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾

I'm so happy to see Uncle Laolu Olatunbosun here. I was telling someone few months ago about the golden, eloquent Radio and TV icons in Ibadan while growing up. Laolu Olatunbosun is one excellent broadcaster with such great pizzazz and elocution. You will agree with me that Ibadan remains the source of excellent broadcasting in Nigeria. His broadcast generation include Late Tolu Fatoyinbo, Yanju Adegbite, Yomi Layinka, Bisi Olatilo, and much later Oyetunji Ogunwale, Femi Popoola, and Seyi Akerele. The list is endless. Check out these men. Icon of excellence!

It is sad that Emukay at Camberwell closed down. Our generation was blessed with Tunji Oyelana. In fact, Wole Soyinka's song "I love my country i no go lie" which was sang in Njemanze style, was sang by Tunji Oyelana's band. It is so nice to know that "àgbà ló dé, mo mí fèsò rìn" originated from gèlèdé. Radio O-Y-O used to play this on Saturday mornings in the early 1980s when introducing a programme for the elderlies. Àgbà yín á dalẹ o baba. Ẹ ṣeun o, Alagba Laolu Olatubosun of BCOS and OGTV.

Ibadan in the 70s & 80s was so great in music, drama, broadcasting, acting. Indeed entertainment as a whole. The likes of Yanju Adegbite & later Olaolu Olatubosun made us to be glued to BCOS radio & Tv back then. It's great reconnecting with these legends. And uncle Tunjis songs are on my permanent playlist. God bless him for the powerful messages satirically delivered

I’m so overwhelmed seeing Uncle Tunji and it was indeed a beautiful interview…..saw him last 16 years ago at Emukay such a wonderful, kind hearted fatherly figure, who was so caring about my trip to Lagos Nigeria, not until I called to say I arrived safely that he had peace of mind. I’ve known him since 1994 through Oba Gbenga Shonuga, as a Theatre Artiste under his command. Meeting him again at London was a blessing, he doesn’t take anyone for granted despite the age distance ❤❤❤

A great interview sir. Baba Tunji Oyelana's song and that of his 'aburo' Baba Jimi Solanke's songs coloured my younger years in the early 80s. Their sounds on the classic Radio Lagos and Radio Nigeria. My dad and our uncles will pop in their 'plate's on the turntables back then. From Agba Lode to Alaaru to njẹ Burẹdi" to "Mo Lọ Soko"........ Nostalgic listening to him. Baba Olaolu Olatunbosun, it was a Vintage Interview indeed sir.🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 Ẹ kuu iṣẹ sir.
