creating a visual diary so I can be nostalgic in the future ✨
feeling lost in your 20s? it’s ok, me too.
💭 It’s ok not to have all the answers. Sometimes, all you really need is a break. To simply, switch off brain.
It’s a constant ebb and flow of knowing and unknowing. These periods of feeling lost aren’t exclusive to those traversing their quarter-life crisis. Everyone goes through it at some point or another. And as easy as it is to feel alone during these periods, I wanted to make this video to help people feel secure in their insecurity. To make it known that it is ok to feel lost. And that these periods of discomfort are temporary teachers to guide us back towards clarity. This is the cycle of growth.
🧠 Serious thoughts aside, I’ve always loved journaling. There’s a sense of calm with it. So, I wanted to combine both loves of mine: video creation and journaling. It was also a good opportunity to try and practice new cinematography learnings.
I wrote this during a period where I really felt lost. I equipped a grey lens on life and the path forward was never really clear. Life can feel really sh*t at times and that’s normal. And the natural coping response is to try and find all the answers immediately. I think it’s important to remind ourselves to take meaningful breaks. Breaks that allow us to pause and be truly present. So, that’s what this video is about.
I’m truly grateful for everyone who takes the time to watch. I appreciate you 🫶🏽

better late than never (thailand '22)

i had this sitting in premiere pro for 2-years because: (1) got busy with job hunting and (2) didn't have enough footage to make a full length video. so yes, this video is very short and doesn't capture the trip in its entirety, but watching it back makes me smile. so, like the title says: better late than never. better released than unreleased. better than . just better. yuhyuhyuhyuhyuhyuhyuhyuh

What I did in my 2nd day in LA
Переглядів 1992 роки тому
Yo what’s good! ✌️ Welcome to Russel’s monthly upload 🙈 😴 Capturing my second day in LA in this video. ALSO, no I’m not in LA anymore. I’m just really bad at posting 😪 It’s always about levelling up and experimenting with something new, so with this video I decided to mess around with a mix of an ASMR, subtitle-driven vlog-style video compilation. So, if you had some thoughts on how it flowed, ...
I quit my full time Civil Engineering role and flew to the US instead
Переглядів 5942 роки тому
After a long-ass hiatus, I’m finally back with another upload 🙃 Unlike the usual content on my channel, this video hits a bit more close to home. The latter stages of 2021 were honestly one of the toughest periods of my life. After months and months of back-and-forth questioning, I made the jarring decision to quit my full-time role as a Graduate Civil Engineer. All I had was, at best, an extre...

Finally, FINALLY Part 2 of this gahdang 1-Week Rank Up Challenge is up. Only took me 2 months 😅 Tried to level up my editing and storytelling game with this video, and, overall, I’m really proud of it - so I hope that you guys enjoy this one. Definitely my favourite video to date! ☄️ Excited to translate these newfound learnings to my upcoming videos, so keep an eye out! It's all a learning pro...
Getting a Perm for the First Time: A Post-COVID Experiment
Переглядів 6212 роки тому
Usually haircuts aren't that big of a deal, but today I wanted to switch it up with a hairstyle I've been eyeing, but never had the balls to try until now: a perm! ☄️ While I was at it, I decided to push myself as a creator by filming myself in public and creating a more home-style, vlog-like video. Took inspiration from some of my favourite creators, so let me know if you recognise it! 🤓 It's ...
Seeing How Far I Can Rank Up in Valorant During My 1 Week Isolation Period (pt.1)
Переглядів 4582 роки тому
Life update: I got Covid about a month ago, and around that time I was pretty hard-pressed on getting my UA-cam channel up and running. Timing kinda sucked, but I decided to make the most of it and take on a little challenge. The challenge? To see how far I could rank up in Valorant in my 1-week isolation period. So for any of my Valorant-playing plebbians, this is for you. This is just Part 1 ...

Experienced some more editing blocks for this one, because I really wanted to create something special and the result is something I'm proud of. Every new video is my new favourite video :P Keen to create more videos of own soon! Watch this space :DDD

A new video only took 6 months smh :') But, hey, here it is! Hope you enjoy this raw, fun lil recap vlog! Partly random cuts, partly video editing practice, but all quality content :P. I know that I'll revisit this video in years to come and just laugh. So, I hope you laugh as well :) Also, follow me on Instagram: @dayyyumitsme !!! A pre-covid memory - February 2020. Truthfully, this experience was extremely anxiety-inducing. Sprouts of imposters' syndrome grew left and right as I attempted to manage a worthwhile program for twenty University students. It's been more than a year since then and, unsurprisingly, there are mistakes, decisions, last minute calls that I still ponder on. Though not perfect, I'm proud to say tha...

yo thanks for watching! i film using a sony zv-e10 / tamron 17-70mm lens & edit using premiere pro. and yeah, I love Riza's videos. She's a huge inspiration for story telling and video creation in general :)

What a vid 🐳 I appreciate it …. But no matter how you’re grown up you can never figure out everything.Even though, you have to figure out the maximum you can even if it gets you through some change in your daily life, that’s what can make you happier. No one has a complete life which is good somehow since you still have to discover new stuff. Can’t talk about many things in just a comment((plus don’t forget that friends, family and people are important ,you can’t live alone))but anyways,”GOOD LUCK” 🍀🍀🍀
Agreed, it's a constant journey. And it's important to know that it happens and we'll all be okay. Thank you for taking the time to watch <3

@@JeremyLynch0 Thanks for the words! Only up from here :)
I’m 24, living with my parents, and pretty depressed about my life. It feels like everyone has it figured out by this age, but seeing my peers and people older than me open up about their struggles like this helps me feel less alone. Thanks. It still sucks creating my art and being super passionate about it when it feels like the whole world is screaming at me to just give up.
@@NiteOwl2000 100% relate with this. Let’s keep figuring this out together 💪🏽

I feel you on the rolled ankle part. I just started playing volleyball more seriously these past couple of months and during a scrim I landed on my friends foot on the opposite team. But both my ankles got rolled on the landing 😫😫 Been a rough month of recovery but ankle braces and daily strengthening has helped me bounce back. Still not 100% though LOL. Was dope seeing your progression throughout! I only ever played beach volleyball super casually and didn't do sports in high-school. But Volleyball has been so refreshing to get into and has been my new hyper fixation lmao.
Yeah dude it sucks! Respect for you keeping it up. Let’s keep it going 💪🏽
I played 11-14 then my club left to another gym far away from me so I stopped, I hated it so i was happy but recently I’ve missed the sport. just signed up for an adult club on weekends and it’s much more fun than my childhood club ever was. instead of the stuck up jock kids, the people here are actual self realized adults with complete brains.
Love this video. Keep up the good work and never stop learning. Haikyuu for the win! Excited for the last movie.
Thank you man! I saw the movie, definitely go watch 🔥
Where do you find places to play bro
hey, question... Im currently 17 (18 in september) there is only 1 club in my city (id have to drive over 2 hours in 1 direction to get to the capital with a tone of teams, again they all accept already experienced players....) which is actually pretty good, however there was no way to get in as they only accept already good players.. Now finally, they have a practise 2x a week for 'recreational' rather, if i start training there now, and practise a LOT at home, would there be a way to get into the acutal team in the future and possibly play volleyball professionally? im not speaking like world championship as this is unrealistic at my age, but at least some semi-big tournaments with a team? or is it definately too late? what do you think
definitely not too late man! go for it :)
Love to see it
ayo welcome back russwole 😍
dude u played svl straight away wtf. w vid btw
great job!!
thanks!
so sexy sexy
Nice progress, keep up the good work!
I remember when I first met bro at ravens. Bro literally came out of nowhere and was super athletic and I didn't believe that he was only 3 months into the spot cause he was so good lol
hahaha 🤣 ty ty
i started playing 7 months ago and now i represent my city
let’s go!!
I started playing in January of 2021, with my school for the first time ever. I then played once again the next year and got hooked. I now play on the best D1 club team, for my age group, in my province and looking back, I never would have guessed I'd get so lucky with a team of this caliber. I'm forever grateful that volleyball gave me another hobby/thing to love after quitting basketball and feeling depressed.
why am I you right now? I don't know if I'll quit basketball I may continue playing it occasionally but volleyball stole my heart. I used to play basketball when I was younger, it's just always been a part of my environment and I train with my uni team. I've never played volleyball except a one-off ages ago so I don't know where this burning urge came from cuz I literally knew nothing about it but I always look forward to trainings and games now that I've started playing a month ago. I pretty much suck at this level and I get discouraged at times when seeing other women who have played for years and aren't that skilled but I try to remind myself it's probably because they didn't have it in mind to play competitively so they didn't push too hard. I hope I get to play competitive one day after improving my physique by becoming more fit and athletic, although the hardest part about it is diet as I am constantly snacking on bubble tea and chocolate non-stop. Either way I hope I stay consistent with working out and I'll try not to let fear hinder me from improving in volleyball.
@@unknown-km9dv In my case I played basketball at a high level, but in primary school. Ever since I still love playing, but I don't love the atmoshpere around the sport. Personally, play/do whatever you want now. “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do." -H. Jackson Brown Jr. I say try out volleyball more and more. Also, for food, just don't buy/bring those things with you. Bring water or a juice. And for snacks, bring a protein bar, nuts, fruits, etc. Just make your available options to eat healthy and filling.
where the basketball highlights
I started playing volleyball in 2022, I was in seventh grade. Seventh grade is the youngest you can sign up for sports at my school so I got a late start. That year was pretty good, obviously noob skills and a whole ton of room for improvement. This year, my 8th grade year, I moved up to JV a year early and was a starter, played a ton and got good experience from girls who were 1-2 years older than me. Honestly looking back 6 months later I still was kinda bad, or maybe that’s just how much I’ve improved since the season ended. Off season training is where I get better and I’ve skyrocketed since last season. I’m now training defense hoping to be libero, and it’s so amazing seeing my progress from just half a year ago. To anyone who doesn’t think they can get better or improve, that’s why. You don’t think you can do you’re not putting in the work. Confidence, hard work, and just wanting to get better is the key to becoming your best player!
Late start my foot 😭 I only started now and I'm 18
never late! especially at 7th grade! here most men teams dont even start until youre 16 and i started when i was 18! keep on the work!!
@@le_beks Ohh, I was always told 7th was late because the people who are aiming for D1 or D2 in college (like me) usually start a couple years before. That being said, there’s nowhere hard work can’t get you to!
Very well spoken for a 12 yr old
@@thefire4613 uhh I’m 14 actually, thanks though
Wooo so cool
i started 2020 but i didn't progress like this maybe i just need to play more ;-;
u got this! (also side note: I played basketball for like 10 years, so some of the athleticism transferred over). so don't be discouraged <3
@@russelsvisualdiary dam bro 10 years insane!
I just finished my 18U season, and I am sad trying to figure out if I can find a team like feel after the final season, watching this made me feel like there is a way to play on a team even after you cant play in a U league anymore
u got this! you can definitely find another team :)
The way I see it is that, like you, there will be TONS of volleyball players trying to find teams after their final season. You'll meet people eventually, keep looking. :)
