Did I mention my riding with Lael Wilcox day 13 of her race around the world.
Lael Wilcox race around the world,I rode with her for 52 km after riding out 52 km to find her, gave her some of my home made flapjacks and a can of coke I have the empty can in the bike shed! She's a great person, never forget that ride she ripped my legs off I am 68 years old! I did have to get a draft after 25 km.

Awesome! Great job staying with her!!
Thanks ,I paid the price at the end with the cramp dance 🤣
So sorry to hear about the crash. We also lost one of our riders on Fleecer Ridge but it was just a broken collarbone and he was able to walk until we could get help.
Thanks for posting this. It was great riding with you.
Hello Stephen! I like your videos. Can you explain how you install the bottle cages and the anything cages on your suspension fork?
Hi, I used Tailfin suspension fork mounts (stainless steel £30 each side) they come with very good instructions and all the bits to mount to different fork sizes and torque settings ,I did add a strip of rubber inner tube under neath. They are well made like all Tailfin stuff and never moved on the GDMBR.
Xin chào. Thật tuyệt vời!!!❤❤❤
100% inspiring!
🚴💪😎
🤠👍
Thanks
Cool 😉👍
Thanks
I recall you starting with a camp chair. What was the fate of that? I'm wondering if I should bring mine.
@@ross6853 Haha that chair got left with my 2 years old granddaughter in Banff she liked it I think that was the best place for it on not on my bike.
I dug this and your unpacking vid. Thank you. Looks like you bring a lot of stuff. I'm guessing your bike was on the heavy side. I think mine will be too. Would you advise someone to try to lighten it up a bit, or just deal with the extra weight and stuff? 50 mi a day seems like a good amount of mileage to shoot for.
Thanks for taking the time to watch, I came back with 18kg of total kit inc bags ,when I return in 2026 after my knee replacement to finish off the ride I will change out sleep system to a lighter one with a quilt and new sleeping mat ,and only a puffy jacket no fleece that's 2 kg saved .End of the day it what you feel you can manage with or with out on tour there is no right way only your way enjoy the ride.
Way to go. Happy to see your video old friend.
Rubber side down 👍
Thank you for sharing
Thanks rubber side down.

Hello. Very nice and very good, thanks thanks thanks!!!❤❤❤
Thanks for visiting
Hi from Bob and Kathleen.
Thank you for update.900 miles is pretty good achievement.Just wondering what breaks have you been using on your bike
TRP/Hydro with compression less outer housing and sintered pads, will upgrade to 203 mm front rotor from 160mm for the long fast down hills.
Are you riding with padded shorts on your B17 brooks saddle?
Yes always on all my bikes Ihave a Brooks B 17special on my touring bike but on my Salsa Fargo its a Brooks Cambium C17 carved
@arcoulant87 I thought you could go paddles on the leather brooks saddles once they conform to your rear end. Trying to avoid padded shorts as they get wet from sweat and rain which can cause saddle sores. Wearing merino underwear with hiking shorts would stay dryer thus minimizing saddle sores from occurring.
@@stevemullin1195 Every one is different .I have always worn lycra bib shorts as for saddle sores keep your bum clean .
For what it is worth, I ride a B17 and don't bother with (or find that I need) padded shorts. For commuting and longer rides, I find it comfortable. Being able to wear regular shorts (with or without merino or synthetic undergarments, which sometimes I do just for kicks) is nice, but usually I just don't bother. Just don't wear cotton.
@@ross6853 As I say everyone is different there is no right or wrong way .
I whole heartily agree with putting thing of consistent weight on the front as apposed to food of clothing that can very.
Onya Stev up it cobba. Did your come with a front derailer Thanks
Built this bike up and us a Problem solver for the front mech.
I like your setup with panniers I am planning similar on my Ogre next year
Thanks, it's is what I had used road touring and I am touring not racing it should be OK.
Good luck on your adventure
Nicely done. Thanks for the rundown. Question: What does your bike weigh unloaded and loaded (but no water or food)?
Thanks ,about 14 kg with the different forks ,seat post ,loaded around 32 kg may be heavy for some but I am touring so not a problem.
@@arcoulant87 Thanks. Much appreciated.
cool
Thanks
I've ridden half of the Great Divide. Also many long road tours. Re Ortlieb Classic panniers on the rear, I own a full set for city commuting, front and rear. The plastic mounting clips, and plastic hooks at bottom will probably break on the Divide. I'm using Revelate Designs Nano Panniers that attach with Velcro to the rack for front and rear. Secure, nothing to break, or snap. Other panniers I would recommend are Arkel bran with metal clamp at top and bungee cord hook for bottom attachment. Arkels do not break either. Good luck on the Divide, you're ready, have fun, happy trails!
Hi, rode the BC epic 2022 1000km with these panniers no problems ,however I will be taking a spare mounting clips weight nothing as a get out of jail card also an extra bottom clip each side to stop any movement.
Just come back From riding the GDMBR and No breakages what so ever and I saw may others using Ortlieb Panners ,I would how ever next time use the front bags on the back as they are smaller there fore carry less crap.
Any handling/durability/performance issues with load on the suspension fork? I'm looking at doing something similar. Best of luck on the ride! My wife and I did a section of it last year, Pinedale to Salida. Gorgeous.
Using Tailfin mounts on forks about £30 each not cheap but well made and better than pipe clips ,keeping weight to about 1.5 -2 kg max each side should be ok because the lump on the drive chain has lost over 10 kg this last 6 months(me) Will let you know .
Had no problems with the set up, I did us the tailfin clamps they just work.
@@arcoulant87 Thanks. I ended up going with an axle mounted Divide rack by Old Man Mountain. We'll see how she rocks.
Neat set up, looks like it came together well 🚴♂️
Like the slide show. Still pictures tell a different story not better or worse than a video, just different. A photo freezes a moment in time something a moving picture can't do. I hope you're still touring six years after this was posted.
Thanks, riding the GDMBR this July 2024
Well done! A good start!
Keep it goin
Thanks
