Looks like the Jimmy Ballard swing?
@@chadspencer954 For sure👍🏼 Ballard studied Hogan and Knudson quite a bit, both who moved the club with their feet. Jimmy Ballard was an assistant of the legendary Sam Byrd who played MLB and also played on the PGA Tour at the time and won several times. Sam Byrd developed the whole “connection” thing from taking batting practice with Babe Ruth and Byrd also worked golf wise with the legendary Henry Picard who taught Hogan. It’s more the classic style swing pattern for sure which tends to be easier on the body. Thanks for the comment.
Sam Snead , described his squat, as pointing the left knee left on the backswing and pointing his right knee right on the downswing , while his upper body, was rotating in the opposite direction. This move created tremendous torque from the utilisation of ground forces.
@@davidmcnamara3243Definitely creates good grf interaction and will help with your transition. You can practice it doing the squat creating traction with the feet. George Gangas teaches that move with many of his students. Also good for eliminating early extension. It’s a fun practice sequence too. Thanks for the comment.
The greater golfer.
Hi Barry, can you send me the dimensions for the balance board. Thanks Rob
@@robertofelicioni4980 Hi Rob for sure, here it is again, had sent early but, mine is 26” long by about 14” deep needs to be long enough to accommodate stance width, most are about 24-30 inches long and width depth 12-16 inches, with a 1x1, or 1x2 fulcrum, let me know
バックスイングで頭は動いてる ダウンでしずみすぎてもない
Thanks Barry 😊
This is a great idea. Just made one. And it comes with a built in sound effect for tempo. Shift trail foot-click, shift lead foot-click, start turning core, passive arms. I’ve watched most of these videos. Barry is an innovative teacher of sound fundamentals. No quick fix gimmicks here.
@@dds2690 Thanks👍🏼Thats cool the sound effect with the feel of the board luv that! 👏🏻👏🏻
Impressive Power!
She was amazing could hit a two iron sky high and drive it 260+ back then! Crazy how good she was!
I bought an old skateboard and put some 1x2 on the bottom in the middle.
@@chriszingler4548 Love that👍🏼
Hi Barry, can you send the measurements for the balance board please
@@robertofelicioni4980 Hi Rob good to hear from you. Generally 20-24 inches, long enough to accommodate your stance, 10-12 inches deep for feet placement and 1x1 or similar doweling for the rocker. Doesn’t need to be complicated. It will certainly help with your downswing transition we worked on this year👍🏼
Lose the music, Sinatra was a pig, modern women detest him.
That man had a lovely looking swing
@@grayslayers The best!👍🏼
This is genius. I was told in the late 80s by my club pro that the best ball striker he knew played pigeon toed.
@@ericzellershow Thanks It works👍🏼 Foot placement is a preference but if you don’t have any real ankle or knee issues playing pigeon toed will help improve your turn and leverage.
@@BarryTammyGibsonOver50Golf I’ve been sliding a lot with the splay footed stance. I’m going pigeon toed tomorrow.
@@ericzellershow This will clean that up immediately! Even if you don’t stay with it on-course it’s a great go to practice drill! Let us know how it goes have fun!
What bands do you recommend Barry? Thanks in advance!
@@KevinMDowney I use something like these the loop type smaller heavier. I went to my local exercise equipment store and got three for $10. www.roguefitness.com/rogue-loop-bands Should be able to easily find they are popular and so versatile. Great for golf 👍🏼Mr.Amazon will have likely for sure. Enjoy!
Some Jimmy Ballard in that teaching thought - good stuff!
@@KevinMDowney Ballard “borrowed” lots from Hogan, Knudson and Sam Byrd who trained Ballard! Thanks for the comment. 👍🏼Jimmy Ballard has been a bit forgotten with all the “new age” golf instructors but Ballard was great. Some are starting to find his teachings again though!
@@BarryTammyGibsonOver50Golf Oh for sure. I was taught by an original Ballard disciple back in the day. Out of game for 20 years and re-learning how to swing. Great videos!
@@KevinMDowney Thanks! anything you want to see for your game let me know and I’ll work it into our series! Long Live the Knud👍🏼🙏🏻
My goodness what great footwork. I've got her book and have studied her swing intensely, but it is still so beautiful to watch. All of the best players moved their feet like this. No independent hand motion going back...simply beautiful.
@@robsaxepga She was a legend amazing player. Great book, amazing footwork and turn👍🏼 Cant go wrong studying her swing! Thanks for the comment👍🏼
George's book is one of the best in my library. It really is one of the best descriptions of the swing I have ever read. Read it this morning in fact. lol

Yes I will be having a lesson next week
What if I am a right legged above knee am0utee with left handed golf swing
@@JoeKeegan-c7f You likely won’t be able to use that exact variation, depends on your balance on your right side. You could try with feet closer together than your normal stance, no staggered stance, feet parallel and hit little shots and let your upper body rotate to the target. How is your game generally do you take lessons?
Outstanding
are you more of an in to out or have a slight over the top move?
@@terrynoble8662 Good question, slight over the top and down, pretty typical hand path for many good players, Snead, Knudson, Scheffler, More Norman, Hogan etc, but not the clubhead, get to P6 pre-impact position parallel to target line. The drills help ingrain a good transition to use your feet and ground to start down. Many golfers don’t have the mobility for the big shallowing move, especially as they get older, requires a lot of hip pelvis rotation to strike the ball. I like to feel a little in to out on the drills though👍🏼A little in to out, out to in hand path all good get to the good delivery position👍🏼
These drills are great, having read the Natural Swing by George (several times), the feel was missing, you are providing the missing links to the feel and the motion. keep up the great work.
@@billprokopowich6833 I’m going to be doing a whole series on the Natural Swing By George Knudson and adding more feel based tips and drills👍🏼 Thanks
I love how short your backswing is. I really like the concepts here, and I am going to give it a shot.
@@kenbagwell8551 Knudson was a wonderful legendary balls striker with simple concepts for a natural swing for all golfers. He had a shortish swing, I’ve always played better with a shorter swing and never lacked distance👍🏼Good stuff, let us know how it goes! Thanks!
Made it looks so simple
With practice can be! The drills help! Even doing without hitting balls will help!
it's what i need and i know it's gonna help, thnx.
@@steveperry1344 It’s a good one👍🏼 Thanks!
I said I would get back to you but didn't think it would be so soon. Driving range today and after working on your theory and advice, I am now attacking the ball from a completely different space and a place I have never been before, hit some of my best ever drives with no horrible fade. Thanks so much Barry, you re programmed me😁
@@Popspicker Thanks👍🏼 Good to find drills that work for you. Glad to hear makes golf more fun. The drills are the physiotherapy for your swing, keep doing them! I’ve been teaching 35+ years got hundreds of drills I should put them together in an organized sequence. Keep having fun with your golf! Cheers👍🏼🏌️♂️
@@BarryTammyGibsonOver50Golf Thanks so much mate
Thanks so much for your comments on this Barry. Never noticed the stepping action of Hogan‘s feet.
@@PeterLarsenJr It’s mesmerizing once you start looking for it👍🏼 He was so far ahead of everyone and his time! Some 70 years later we are still studying his swing. Him and Moe Norman, two geniuses that both dug it out of the dirt!

Glad to see George Knudsen still going strong, practicing into his back yard golf net. Best swing on the planet. I model my swing after you sir. Surprised you didn't use Gordon Lightfoot or Rush as your choice of music being canucks too. Hope to see you regain your PGA tour card and return to action soon. Get well soon. ❤️ ⛳️ 🇺🇸
This isnt george
@@thatlakeshorebreezepodcast799 you bet your sweet bippy it is. Look at that swing at the end of the video. There's only one Knudson swing on the surface of the planet and that's it, in all its rhythemic glory.
@@quantumpotential7639 dude knudson is dead learn some history
Ball go far🥳
It's interesting also to see the left heel move toward the target first when he steps. Allows you to stay "shut" and not open too soon on the way down.
Take this to the next next next level by adding a little galloping type dance move. Look up the “Gangnam style” dance for a rough reference this circler continuous jump with mini hops left to right puts every thing into correct timing and sequence it’s incredible! To make it nearly identical to golf form you just need to your jump hops off left foot, tap right foot, land back on left foot repeat while moving horizontally left.
Thanks Barry ⛳️
