    Amazing craftmanship as always! 🙌 Do you ever replace structural parts of the car with carbon fiber? Or is it always only used as reinforcement to existing parts/panels? Ive seen many ae86 owners cut their roof off and replace it with carbon fiber- ive always wondered how it is fastened to mantain or improve factory rigidity

      Sorry for the late reply. I have never replaced any significant structural parts on a car with carbon fiber parts. I did add carbon panel for rigidity .

      Are you asking for carbon doubling? Or epoxy coating ? If epoxy coating, it’s only looks, same to clear paint. When asking for carbon doubling, it’s for increase stiffness.

      @@operaperformanceyasukichiy9795 the carbon doubling , I have seen this done on a couple cars but I have not been able to find any information online about the effects of the doubling on the strut towers. Is this process more effective than adding gussets and support brackets to the car ? Like on the S2000 in your other video.

      @@thomaswoodhams3609 Carbon doubling can be stronger than gusset reinforcement or tower bars. However, it requires a lot of effort and cost. That's why it's not so popular. If you can put in the time, cost, and effort, I think you can make it lighter and stronger than other reinforcement methods.

      does the doubling have to be done with the carbon infusion process or can it simply be done with the same process used for skinning a part in carbon ?

      I think Infusion is more ideal than carbon skinning. Carbon prepreg is also good, but the high temperatures required to harden the epoxy resin cause the metal to expand, so it is best to avoid heating it to high temperatures as much as possible.

    Ever since I was 2 years old, Hondas have made my life special. To this day, you are such a huge inspiration on me. I remember when I was a teenager and spent my time alone with Gran Turismo 4, and I remember driving through so much beautiful scenery while mystified by the Opera S2000, like me and it were the only things to exist in a beautiful forgotten world. Thank you.

    this is art... deeply embraces the philosophy of Honda too when it comes to engineering and performance... overglorified and overpriced crap like ferrari can never come close to this.. this is real art...passion and engineering perfection this kind of engineering could be sold at expensive prices and understandably so..

    Such a beautiful DC5 build. Looks nice inside and outside too. If I had one or any other car, for the street this is the kind of roll-cage and oem panel doubling combination rigidity that I would love to have.

    How did you get the original shape in the first place? Did you use some form of drawing or deep drawing? What did you cut it with?

    Can I ask how many layers you use? I'm in the middle of doing the whole chasis and I had done some calculations but I don't really feel overwhelimgly confident they will resist torsion as well as I'm imagining. Thank you.

    Apply carbon fiber directly to steel chassis can cause galvanic corrosion unless there is a material like fiberglass/coating/painting to prevent it.

    Love this so much! Thank you for putting this content and interacting with us. I understand carbon doubling adds 12kg of weight but 7x of the rigidity. Do you make weight reduction like dimpling, gusset and stitch weld BEFORE carbon doubling? or you do not need to do it?

      Thank you understood my work. I did dimple hole weight reduction but didn’t gusset and stitch weld . That’s why carbon doubling are enough rigidity.

      @@ArnoldVette I think reduce weight couple kilogram dinmple hole . I did remove floor mat etc . Maybe add 5 to 6kg.

    The Opera Performance S2000 was the best S2000 to drive whether in GT4, GT PSP, GT5 or GT6. One day if I ever get my hands on an S2000 I'll make sure to bring it to you for tuning.

    簡単に言えばFRP製作で使う樹脂でカーボン繊維を張り付けて硬化させているだけだから、ドライカーボンなみの強度はないFRP程度の強度だから補強の効果は薄いと思う。 あと、本物のドライカーボンでエキマニをセラミックコーティングしているなら、熱害はほぼないでしょう。

      FRP は、ポリエステル樹脂ですが、ドライカーボンは、エポキシ樹脂です。オペラ・パフォーマンスでは、ドライカーボンと同じエポキシ樹脂をインフュージョンにて注入してますので、FRPとは違います。 ドライカーボン、ウエットカーボン、FRPの違いを理解されるとオペラ・パフォーマンスでカーボン2重貼りを施工する理由が分かると思います。

      @@Predator199566 ドライカーボンもウエットカーボンもハンドレイアップカーボンも全てカーボンです。 ドライカーボンは、温度を上げて硬化するタイプのエポキシ樹脂が染み込ませてあるプリプレグの事をドライカーボンと呼んでます。 樹脂をあらかじめ染み込ませてるカーボンマット(ドライカーボン)も真空状態でインフュージョンしてエポキシ樹脂を染み込ませたカーボンマットも重量差は、殆どありません。 ドライカーボンは、オートクレーブで加圧してるので、その分強度が高いですが、s2000のパーツをドライカーボンで作った物とインフュージョンで作った物と比較してみましたが、強度は少しドライがありましたが、重量は殆ど変わりませんでした。オペラで施工したカーボン2重貼りは、ハンドレイアップではない事、バキュームバックで真空状態でインフュージョンにて樹脂を注入したカーボンですので、ドライカーボンと比べても重いカーボンではありません。オートクレーブで加圧して無いので、それを考慮してカーボンマットを増やし強度を補ってます。その増やしたマット分は、重いのは確かですが、ハンドレイアップ(手ばり)に比べると断然ドライカーボンに近い重量です。

      ​@@operaperformanceyasukichiy9795 that is really amazing how little carbon fibre you can add, in terms of weight, to do the job of at least 120kg of steel reinforcement for the same results. I've been obsessed about the process for the past few days. Looks beautiful and does it's job as well.❤

    Your English is very good! I appreciate it as do many other people. Many American don’t like Japanese cars, but there are many that love and appreciate all your and other Japanese tuner work! Very inspiring, I want to learn to do work like this one day of myself, it is my dream to own a shop to build my own cars.
