In Polish language we don't 'love' to have our feet rubbed. The word is reserved for emotion to people only, at most your favorite pet maybe. I perhaps focus too much on all positive vs negative aspects of a relationship... but it looks like I'm going to stay married for the foreseeable future - ask my wife.

So the "I" does exist. It exists in the subconscious. It chooses one of those thousand choices to be the one to get sent to the VLOG. Something has to create the new ideas. They either just pop up out of randomness or are an amalgamation/synthesis of several other ideas, but the "I" in the brain makes that choice. I can just barley believe that there is an "I" in my head that is not the "I" that I am aware of right now. But they seem so similar that, what is the point in even separating them? It's the same "I" just one level of abstraction away. Shit man, I don't know. I don't know what to think anymore.
I would still say - `NO` (there is no `I`). The brain/subconscious is just a happening thing. There is no `I` in there, making choices ... It is just a fact that choices are made. The best analogy that I have used is of a river running around rocks. Yes, it `makes the choice` which way to go round the rock (because it went one way or other) ... but that is not `really` a choice that the river made. Same with the subconscious/brain - It makes a choice, but it `really` doesn't. The brain works just like the river does.

I feel like this topic is something new to philosophy. I haven't heard of this anywhere else before. This idea that our brain processes reality at some frame rate, and the more time between sensory inputs/frames is correlated to intelligence/evolution. Does a supreme being, 1 million years more evolved from humans, only need to take in snippets of reality once every hour and is able to process and plan and predict days ahead?
So, we operate at such a slow frame rate to give us time to invent a story about the data coming into our brain. Lesser evolved creatures operate a higher frame rates any they act more on instinct. The stories we create help us see past our instinctual impulses. Yea, that makes sense to me. What can we do with this insight?

So I started filming short clips. Still listening to the piece I compiled it mostly in my head and then the real editing was simple. Pretty happy about the result. Interesting how creativity happens. This was filmed at 30 fps on mi iPhoen, but I now know I can also change the settings to 4K @ 24 fps. So maybe a compilation of Friesland is next.
I guess I am in a way leaning more towards the soul theory, but I go back and forth ...Even if there was a soul .. what would it be ? Was it Nick or Gary from the beginning of time ? but maybe there is no time anyway . And if there was/ is a soul, would that soul still have an apparent "I". E.g. this isn't going be a direct response to the content of this specific video And i'm probably just about to state some of the obvious or maybe i'm wrong. i'll just throw some shit at the wall and see if any of it sticks: nick and gary are both basically trying to do exactly the same thing: escape the suffering of life. but with two v different methods. gary's perspective is that suffering and 'the self' are as real as real can be. Basically the most real thing in the universe. Procreation generates suffering needlessly, and so the way to end suffering is 'stop running the experiment' and for life to go extinct. This is a hardware / mechanical kind of approach. It's kinda like, if your oven is fked up beyond repair and keeps causing house fires and burning people alive, stop fking using the oven! mystic's perspective on the other hand is basically that suffering is an illusion, because there is no one who suffers, because the self is an illusion, because it's all just the universe universing. this is kind of software / psychological / perspective kind of approach. There is no fire, there is no oven.and there is noone to suffer. this is just the universe doing what the universe does. both can equally claim they are based on physical reality, but they are looking from different magnifications. mystic's perspective is a universe-sized view, where distinctions disappear. gary's perspective is a brain-sized view, where distinctions are clear.

this isn't going be a direct response to the content of this specific video And i'm probably just about to state some of the obvious or maybe i'm wrong. i'll just throw some shit at the wall and see if any of it sticks: nick and gary are both basically trying to do exactly the same thing: escape the suffering of life. but with two v different methods. gary's perspective is that suffering and 'the self' are as real as real can be. Basically the most real thing in the universe. Procreation generates suffering needlessly, and so the way to end suffering is 'stop running the experiment' and for life to go extinct. This is a hardware / mechanical kind of approach. It's kinda like, if your oven is fked up beyond repair and keeps causing house fires and burning people alive, stop fking using the oven! mystic's perspective on the other hand is basically that suffering is an illusion, because there is no one who suffers, because the self is an illusion, because it's all just the universe universing. this is kind of software / psychological / perspective kind of approach. There is no fire, there is no oven.and there is noone to suffer. this is just the universe doing what the universe does. both can equally claim they are based on physical reality, but they are looking from different magnifications. mystic's perspective is a universe-sized view, where distinctions disappear. gary's perspective is a brain-sized view, where distinctions are clear.
But we can't know why the apparent you is In your body and not in your friend your cat, hard to see how evolution could explain it, I don't know
Are there bodies there talking ? Is there words coming out of bodies ? Bodies talking about stuff, and the bodies have a sense of an I created by the body brain. In their view it is not hard to understand that there is no I if that is their belief system
A while a go I read about a Scottish woman who feels close to no pain. She has no anxiety, nervousness nor any fear. Other than that appears completely normal. Apparently a gene mutation. Feels utterly incomprehensible to me. But there we are. Does this link into no I? I believe that it does.
