Brava! Thank you for not fat shaming. Horseback riding is an excellent form of exercise.
I’m glad you liked it! 😊🐴
This is super refreshing to hear. I see far too often larger people getting harrased when riding horses, when in reality both human and horse are completely fine. So happy to see this as I'm upcoming my own riding journey.
Thanks so much! Very much agree with you! Good luck in your horse riding endeavors! 😊🐴👏
Horses are aproximate 55 million years old, I do not stand for nonesense indoctrination.

@@phyllistallent4149 it was so extremely cold for a couple weeks in January-hopefully that’s over!?
I really hate the Tevis Ride. The Havasupai tribe offers horseback rides in the Grand Canyon but they horribly mistreat their horses. Trail riders should be experienced riders and not overweight. I see giant cowboys riding medium sized mules in outdoor mountain terrain. It's not fair and harmful.
Very good advice. As one gets older, this becomes more of a big deal.
Love seeing her at all the different stages.

What material are their blankets made of ?
This new blanket and neck piece combo is a Schneiders Stormshield Contour Classic II made with 1200D ripstop polyester that offers a tough durability rating for the moderately playful horse that runs, jumps, or roughhouses with their pasture mates! Pippa doesn’t really roughhouse much, so this blanket should last a long time! Plus in this area, the extreme cold doesn’t last too long fortunately! 🥶😊🐴

Excellent point and very spot on. Another factor that is almost never accounted for is the fact that the light horse's back/spine, joints and feet are not designed to 'self carry' over a certain size. Light horses, naturally, are about 14.2 hh/1000 or less, unless they have been selectively bred to be bigger...which that is most breeds of light horses today. The bigger you go the less relative weight that horse can carry because now he's added his own weight over and above what nature designed his bone, joints and feet to carry. If a horse is smaller, they can carry more weight relative to their size. Case in point, when a wrangler acquaintance of mine goes on a week long outing over steep and rough terrain, he always chooses a horse under 14.2 hands and ~1000 pounds or a little less and he's no lightweight, he and his saddle and equipment weigh about 230 pounds combined and he's about 6 foot tall. he's found that smaller horses can carry him over that steep and rough terrain quite nimbly with little to no fatigue compared to horses that are 15 hh+/1200lbs+. He says his horse will be fresh the whole week, while his buddies on bigger horses that are carrying the same weight are sore and fatigued after their work day and they are not as nimble, much slower picking their way through rough country. Most of his wrangler friends choose horses about 14-14.2hh and <1000 lbs because those 15hh and bigger horses just don't hold up as well carrying weight through the backcountry. If you need a bigger horse, you need to go to draft type animals who's bone, joints and feet are proportionately larger and naturally designed to carry more weight. My 16hh/1400lb Percheron has carried a combined 300+ pounds of saddle, rider and packs for 15+ miles at mostly a jog without any signs of fatigue and that is supposedly above her weight limit if you use the 20% rule. But my light horse who's 15.2 and about 1250 lbs (grade stock type horse) gets fatigued, even when she's conditioned, if she carries 230 lbs at mostly a jog for a fraction of that distance and that is below the 20% rule. Both of my horses are always around a 4.5 - 5 in body condition and vet checked sound and healthy.
@@DragonflyGlitter thanks very much for this information! My Arabian mare is 15 hands but weighs about 850 lbs. She’s definitely nimble but she’s living an easy life! We have mainly been doing Dressage! I’m looking forward to more trails in the future!
@@alifewithhorses-meryllynn You're welcome 🙂 I learned this aspect of horses decades ago and was a part of classical dressage. The old riding schools never kept horses over 15.1 hh because of that knowledge. It seems like this has been long forgotten and horses are bred to be too big nowadays. If one wants to go big, get a "small" draft horse, their bones and joints are meant to carry much more weight. But drafts are suffering from going too big as well, their average size used to be in the 16 hand range, now they are 17-18+ hh. My Percheron is 16hh/1400lbs and can carry a massive amount of weight long distance at a good clip and shows no fatigue.
The lighter you are, the better.
@@imagineifyouwereaworm thanks for watching! Horses can safely carry a lot of weight. Of course we want to be as fit and healthy as possible and be balanced on our horses backs! Thanks for watching! 🐴😊

Thanks so much! I think so too, but then I’m partial! 😂🐴💜
A friend of mine has had back surgery, so my wife and I are looking after her 6 horses. After a few weeks of looking after them, my wife commented that she has noticed I am a lot calmer and I'm not flaring up as quickly. I use to get angry quickly, but it seems that has reduced massively. I enjoy feeding and watering the horses and the horses themselves are very friendly. I do like the way I feel at the moment.
@@IanSRutter that is awesome news! I have always loved all of the work surrounding horses. From grooming, feeding, watering to cleaning stalls. Just being in their presence feels so good! Thanks for sharing! 🙏💜🐴
I want to thank you for the speedy reply on my question today:) I have completed the entire video and while I agree it's better to be safe than sorry, I also know that each horse is built differently and has different capabilities. Take mine for instance, she is a very large pure Arabian. Standing around 15.25 hands and the back of a gaited horse, she is incredibly strong and healthy. I feel that a good groundwork regimen is vital BEFORE mounting your horse as well as a muscle massage. This loosens up the muscles and decreases tension the horse may be carrying in a certain part of their body. This arabian can work all day carrying my daughter and want to go more. Yet, there are measures such as bell boots and leg boots to protect the tendons ect we also do for her.
@@meganpahl3612 she is big! My straight Egyptian Arabian mare is 15 hands. Thanks for sharing! And best wishes to your daughter in her horse riding endeavors! 😊🐴
I could not find a second part to this video. I have a horse who is very large for her breed. She weighs about 13-1500 lbs, I have a daughter who weighs 200 but the horse handles her extremely well.
@@meganpahl3612 I think the rider’s skill and balance are a more important factor than weight. Sounds like your daughter is an excellent rider! This is the link to the full video, ua-cam.com/video/K12zjxFLA0E/v-deo.htmlsi=UyR1zyb7LNLjsNGQ
In kashmir winter is too harsh .so can I wear blanket for horse because we are running the royal ride near the dal lake 3:50
@@uniquemedicate2366 Knowing your individual location best and how you manage your horse during winter, should be your guide. There are factors only you will know, such as the health and age of your horse and what they are accustomed to! Also how long is the ride, what is the exertion for the horse, etc. Look to others who have done this ride, for their advice. Have fun and ride safely! 😊🐴
I don’t think it should be called a disease 😮 it’s beautiful ❤ There is no health concern and it’s not contagious
@@bebespeaks7677 I know what you mean! I was just being accurate in terms of describing the condition. And I also noted as you mention, that it is not contagious or a threat to Pippa’s health and well being! Thanks for watching and sharing! 😊🐴
Aaaaaw! That looks so lovely! And she looks very happy content. 😊 When we still had horses at our farm, one of my favorite things was to get their stalls ready for them to be in if there was going to be bad weather. Stall cleaning, putting out the hay and grain, with freshly scrubbed water buckets with sparkling water was very therapeutic. ❤ I miss that now that I’m leasing a horse and have no one at home. 😢

@@Sb_equestrian I’m glad you liked the video. I get that some people choose to not wear a helmet.
