Oh no....sorry to see your beautiful van with a big old dent/scrape. I dread meeting a truck coming the other way on a narrow road, as I'm really not very good at reversing!! You are a tough cookie Lisa as that path where you came off was horrible. I think you're bonkers though. We are now in France heading down through Portugal on our way to catch a ferry from Algeciras to Morocco. I wish. you safe and trouble-free travels.😀
@44buddhist Hiya, you two, the dent is superficial, thankfully, and shouldn't take two much to sort out. Thanks for watching, let us know if there's anything we could improve on. Enjoy Morocco, that should be a proper adventure with decent weather for you. We've been in the Pyrenees for the last 5 weeks, weather is very hit and miss.

Thanks for another really enjoyable video guys! So sorry to hear you've had a few dramas this week... Spence, what did happen to your tooth?! @@motorhomemavericks1 Hi again any good places to go and see in Germany you can recommend, and your ebikes what are they, we only got cheep e folding bike I'm thinking of looking at giant ebikes 👍🏻
@slfbs Germany is really big and not one we've explored extensively. The Black Forest is amazing and very easy to get to. The towns and cities are beautiful and traditional. We aiming to go to Lake Constance (Konningsee) soon but life gets in the way. Our bikes are Specialized and full on mountain bikes, if that is your thing - Giant is a very decent brand.
@slfbs ebikes are the wat forward- I'm 60 next week and tbf, probably wouldn't srill be riding if I didn't have one
@@motorhomemavericks1 I can't find that ebike
Hi mavericks we are thinking of going to Scotland beginning of September, where would you suggest, we read that there not keen on motorhomes on the nc 500 will the midges still be about, how do you find the loo drops, is west better than east, 2 adults and a small motorhome, thanks for the vids I’ve only just subscribed. Cheers Sean.
Hi, Thanks for subscribing. Ignore the rumours about the locals - we were there for nearly 5 months and with the exception of two on Skye - we were treated with nothing but kindness. I think a few get the hump when it's the hieght of the season but September should be a lot quieter - and more enjoyable for yourselves. Also, the midges start to ease off in that month. They are only on the west coast With regards as to where to go? The NC500 is fantastic but then so are the islands such as Orkney and Shetland etc - they have more places of interest to visit too - great if you're into your history. We have several videos covering the NC500 plus Skye, Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland. All have parks up and places to visit on Toilet drop offs nd water points are plenty in Scotland - use the Apps - Search for Sites or Park for night to find them (paying the small fee is really worth it) Hope this helps a bit, feel free to ask anything else and happy travels
@@motorhomemavericks1 thanks for the reply, we have both apps so will use, I'm going to watch the videos later. Thanks for the information on your trip
@@slfbs you're very welcome
Great find with the farm. How did you find that? 😊
It was on search4sites. Great App!
Hey you two...another great video. I absolutely agree with you about having a heavy heart when leaving Scotland. Eddie and I got back to West Yorkshire a week ago, and I felt so fed up with rubbish everywhere, the traffic and polluted air. In Scotland we could choose a destination, knowing we were welcome and there was a designated place to park. Even though the weather was a bit rubbish we have both decided we prefer those kind of temperatures, to the baking heat of Andalucia or the Algarve. We are definitely returning next year. I'm currently on a campsite near Shrewsbury and when I arrived after a tedious drive on several motorways, it felt like a little bit of heaven; clean, open vistas and a little bit like Scotland, and after a week of being back in the UK, I can unwind at last. Really looking forward to see where you are heading next. Safe travels ....Julie xx
@44buddhist Hi Julie, Thanks for your positive comments on our videos. I know what you mean about being on a downer leaving Scotland. Coincidentally, once we'd down the family bit down south - we headed up to Shropshire for a few weeks. Definitely, the most underrated county in England, which is cool as it's nice and quiet. Glad you're both well and relaxed
@@motorhomemavericks1You didn't happen to stay at Hawk Lake Caravan Park, dis you? Stuart, the owner, was telling me the exact same van as mine had been there recently, and I was surprised as I haven't seen another one on our travels.
@@44buddhist No, we didn't stay on any campsites whilst we were there. We've only ever seen one the same and that was Glencoe owned by a Dutch family.
Eilean Donan Castle looks amazing
@@lisanorth9036 A great place to visit
I was on holiday in a Motorhome on Skye last year. A local bus came so fast along the road, took my wing mirror with him and didn’t stop. 😮
@saraeb59 both shocked and not surprised. Hope it didn't ruin your holiday
Let us know how you're getting on if you're living off grid?
Is Luskentyre Beach the best in the UK?
Is there any other UK shipwrecks worth exploring?
Sorry about your experience on Skye. As a Skye resident but also a motorhomer I see both sides. Unfortunately Skye has become wrecked due to over tourism and sadly many of those tourists are not behaving well at all. People seem to think that wild camping and the right to rome allows them to park and camp anywhere and often in close proximity to homes etc. Human waste has become a massive problem from irresponsible wild camping. Many dont realise that the legislation clearly states that a camper van or motor vehicle at the side of the road is actually NOT wild camping and is strictly prohibited by the legislation, the fact it isn't currently strictly enforced by the Police or council just adds to peoples confusion. Whilst most locals embrace tourists and tourism and value the contribution it brings it has become very difficult to live with in recent years. Visitors need to consider the impact of around 1 million tourists a year onto island with a population of around 9000 people trying to go about their daily lives of work, schools etc.
Thanks for coming back to me. As the video says, we had two bad experiences in the first hour of being on Skye, other than that - we were treated really well - as we were for 5 months in the rest of Scotland. We were on Skye to see a local - an English man
Some people are never happy and just keep moaning
@@andrewthornhill4229 agreed
I read in one of your titles that you’re living off grid, do you need to charge up a caravan parks often? Is it mostly for waste disposal, fresh water or charging up the batteries? I’m looking at a system called a Clayton power LPS that charges form the alternator and solar panels. This should do away with the need to plug in at caravan parks, just the water and waste challenge to overcome as I couldn’t afford to pay £35 or £38 per night for a caravan park. Any tips on full timing will be much appreciated! Cheers👍
We have three solar panels and a lithium battery. In the summer, we never have to worry about power whatsoever. Also the alternator charges, winter is slightly different especially when it snows. Water is the biggest challenge and we have been known to 'borrow' it from petrol stations and industrial parks. Toilet waste is also a problem - in Scotlnd you can dump it for a few quid - Elsewhere in the UK, we have two cassettes and a large holdall - which we may use to take into public toilets 🤣🤣. Our next video also covers toilet drop offs. Good luck in your venture
@@motorhomemavericks1 I’m 54 and trying to retire by 55. I have had several friends and family die or suffer life changing health issues from the ages of 40 onwards. Since covid, previously fit, energetic and healthy folks all around me have been dropping like flys for no apparent reason. So I realise nothing is guaranteed and if I want to go and travel, I’d better do it while I can. You have an amazing Motorhome and while I’ll probably won’t be able to have something as new or luxurious, I do appreciate the need for the size and garage storage for MTB + Paddle-board storage. Getting the functionality and layout right will be important too, so watching how you guys have done it has been very helpful. Cheers!
@commuterbranchline8132 yes my friend, none of know what is around the corner, so take the bull by the horns. As for your future rig - as long as it is waterproof, nothing else matters. I know people who literally have a van and a mattress
