    Is the carbon fork the same as the original fork in terms of offset and axle to crown length?

    • @johnsnell6315
      @johnsnell6315 10 днів тому

      I sold my old fork, so I don’t have any measurements. I put the old wheel (original wheel and tire) on and there is enough clearance for it. I would recommend the upgrade. The carbon fork absorbs a lot of the road vibration and there is a significant weight reduction.

    • @Mateusz-r1f
      @Mateusz-r1f 8 днів тому

      In my Poseidon, the fork is waiting for replace, and I'm searching for one that will be compatible with 700x55mm wheels.

    John - which Garmin unit are you using and do you like it/recommend it?

    • @johnsnell6315
      @johnsnell6315 Місяць тому

      It is the Garmin 130 plus. I went with the least expensive computer I could find. I wanted something that I could download the routes with, and this seemed to do the trick. I know there are fancier options, put you pay much more for them. It all depends on what you are looking for. The battery lasted all day, and I didn’t have to worry about my phone going dead from tracking my ride.

    I expect that rain was loaded with either Wyoming Coal, or Trona. What with having that engine on the rear to help on hills and with braking. Keep on Pedaling. Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is the home of a Huge Steam tractor show, just do not remember when. Hearing that steam whistle was nice. Brought back some neat memories.

    I did RAGBRAI back in 2012. It was not an easy ride, and frankly, it was kind of a grind, and although I'd watched tons of video's, it did not really prepare me for the ride. Plus I was carrying way to much stuff. I ended up putting stuff on the baggage wagon. But, now I know what to expect, and this winter I will train as much as I can. And yes I will be on it in 2025. So Wyoming will be represented. I always fly a small Wyoming flag on my recumbent bike. Take it easy, now that its over ;) I like your video's. I wish they where a tad longer though :) P.S. I tent camped every night but one. A massive thunderstorm rolled in on Wednesday night, and I got taken in. I was always up and on the road by 6am ;)

    Hey John- good work on the Drift races. I’m attempting my first go at the 13mile this year with intent to build to the 100. My biggest question: water! How are you keeping enough? What carrying device(s) are you using on the 100? Thanks!

    • @johnsnell6315
      @johnsnell6315 7 місяців тому

      Great question. The race requires you to bring a minimum amount of water containers. I use insulated water bottles and then keep them inside of a pack to keep them from freezing. The check stations also provide water (about every 25 miles). For the 100 you are required to bring a stove in case you need to melt snow. I have not had to melt any snow so far. I have used a camelpak water bottle.

      I used 3 inch tape on the front wheel and 4 inch tape on the back wheel. After 2.5 years, I had to redo the front wheel. It was at the bike shop and was placed next to a heater. I think the heater caused the adhesive to soften which caused the failure. I have had zero issues with the back wheel after 2.5 years.
