Fastest Known Time on Nebraskas Best Trail
Join us as we attempt the fastest known time on the Pine Ridge Trail, what we consider Nebraska’s best trail. Tucked away in the State’s northwest corner, the Pine Ridge Trail is a rugged 35.5-mile gem, offering challenging terrain, stunning scenery, and is anything but flat. Stretching between the West Ash and Spotted Tail trailheads, it’s the longest trail of its kind in Nebraska. With over 4,500 feet of elevation gain and a bit more descent when traversing west to east, the trail winds through diverse landscapes on Nebraska’s lesser-known public lands, providing an unforgettable experience of solitude and natural beauty.

Is Nebraska do they have a trails .. ? 😢was not knew ! next door neighbor from Colorado. Just a joke I do have lot of friends in this beautiful state ! Thanks for your video . Now I am going to make fun of them … ? They never told me…. Very beautiful… ..
Congrats on your FKT! I want next.
Thanks! Hope you make it out there, enjoy every mile, and crush it!
Chadron State Park should link this video on their website for things to see and do, Excellent information as well as entertainment.
What a beautiful adventure well captured in a well produced video. Very interesting! You have gained a new subscriber! Keep exploring and sharing my friend! 💕
Thanks!
What was you presentation for lakers? Were you down 30-40"? I didn't see you jigging that I can tell.
We did try jigging a little, but mostly just trolling. We used some deep diving crankbaits and heavy spoons, but probably were well above 30-40'. Likely around 20'. On a trip this year I took a depth finder and that helped.
I like it!
Those rare sightings of the elusive same sided paddlers 👀 😂 very much enjoyed the trip and narrative 👍👌⛺️ furry canoe captains know that they need to wake up and unevenly distribute weight when hit with side waves. Sleep when water is calm ♥️ this is standard good canoe pup protocol. They are adorable.
Thanks, Jen! Appreciate the compliments and the confirmation from a veteran pup paddler that this is standard good canoe pup protocol.
Thanks for taking us along, via this video. Another excellent time.
I am on my moms acount this is teal actually
Nice video Colby
“Highly” recommended!
Enjoyed the video. I've been to Deep Ck Lakes but never successfully climbed Wind River Peak due to weather. You had a great view. Smoke from fires out west and general haze later summer make it tough to see those northern peaks. How did you like the Granite Gear Crown 3? Did you use the optional stay with the weight you had to carry. Congratulations on the fine goldens. That's the best time of year to fish for them.
Thanks, Jed! I have Granite Gears older Blaze 60, so I can’t comment on the Crown 3 or the optional aluminum stay.
@@AverageJoes-YT Thanks! Looks exactly the same. Blaze is heavier but definitely can handle a heavier load. Look forward to Dakota and Mica's next trip to the Winds.
Was this trip this year? Heading out Saturday and heading on this exact path to Coon Lake, then back down the mountain to the Sweetwater Gap TH. Thanks!
It was. We went the first week in July. Hope you have a great trip!
Love how Dakota and Mica narrated❣️
Nice!
This explains why the Bearhawk is on a pause! Awesome trip!
I love this video! This race is on my radar for 2024.
We love this video! Incredible storytelling and videography. Thanks for documenting this, Colby. 🎉
I think you forgot to mention you got 2nd place…
Colby, this is so good! Thanks for putting it together. Beautiful shots and great info!
Wow your production is excellent, thanks for all the details!
Thanks!
With regards to a heavy paddle; surely you have some new muscles now.
😅Probably a result of doing fairly short days, but the weight never bothered me when paddling. It was definitely noticeable on the portages!
A different type of WCPP canoe tripping video! Well Done Colby! Love the glacier speak regarding the lake directions and shapes. Nice addition. Your official paper copy of the My Woodland Journeys map should be in your hands now. Be great to see you back there. Thanks for the plug. Burnt Rock lake is one of my favourites, nuts that you missed it this time around. Gotta love the boreal forest!! cheers Glen (My Woodland Journeys)
Thanks, Glen! I'm excited to have a large hard copy to dream about the next trip! It's incredible how much information you've packed into that map. The fact it's also a work of art is icing on the cake!
Wow! I have watched many vids on this area but yours is the most informative by miles. I loved learning about the fires, the geology, the wildlife and the plants. Now I have to say one word.... Wabakimi (provincial park). Did you notice the odd names, many of which had to be chosen from a topo-map. Thanks for helping us Canadians to know our backyard better.
Appreciate the kind words and the recommendation! We commented on the names as well and wished we knew more about how some of them were chosen. Thanks for letting us explore your backyard!
Agree - Very well narrated and informative.
