I found this pair of Harry James records from 1945 on the red Columbia label and, curiously, both of them are signed right on the grooves in white. The records are 36794 "I Wish I Knew" and 36827 "11:60 P.M." Do you have records similar to these? Are the signatures also an exact match? Do they appear oriented the same way? Curious to know if others have found these records out there in the wild...

This is my first play test of the Victor III phonograph that I just repaired to working order after the atrocious things that had been done to it by a previous "repair" person. This is a 1918 repressing of the 1917 Livery Stable Blues by the Original Dixieland Jass Band on Victor batwing label 18255. My first open-horn machine!

My son is going for a degree in mechanical engineering and has access to a machine shop. I asked him if he could make me adapters for Standard Disc and Harmony records. Using aluminum stock he made me one of each and they're beautiful! Chamfered around the edges they don't grab the record or pucker the labels. A perfect set. Went out for a little "Thrift Store Retail Therapy" and came back with some discs that put a smile on my face for the first time in almost a week. Records have all been cleaned and listened to. I'm always psyched to visit my local thrift store and find a set of Victor Scroll records; I was even more pleased to find this one by Blanche Calloway (sister to Cab Calloway) and her Joy Boys playing "There's Rhythm In The River" on Victor Scroll 22641. I'm playing this on the grand-daddy of Orthophonics; the Victor VV 8-30X

In tearing apart the motor on this Victor III Phonograph I noticed, among other things, that the main drive gear was rather worn on the side where it interacts with the turntable drive shaft. I imagine this is due to the two spring barrels being haphazardly welded together and the motor operating against its normal design. As I cannot simply run down to the parts store to fetch a new gear I opt...

I dug into the Victor III motor in order to figure out what was going on with that ugly weld between the spring barrels. In all honesty I would have rather found a broken spring...
