In 2013 Santa Fe cost was 32 lakhs which is 4 wheel drive and automatic and not 23 lakhs and it was costlier than Fortuner at the time.. Do not buy manual mode and lower models if you want a feel of luxury and if you want driving pleasure. I own this car. I have purchased a used car and till date I had driven 40,000 km so far in the last two and half years time. This SantaFe has its own specific character , a specific sound and the drive of this car is addictive and you can drive 8 hours a day and still you will not get tired. There is almost no body roll and bumping and the suspension is very , very soft . It is very expensive to maintain this car. In Hyderabad normal servicing , now costs Rs.24000/= as it needs high quality synthetic oil about 6.5 liters !! every 10,000 kms. It is not at all suitable for muddy ,village roads but it is an excellent highway cruiser comparable to Audi Q7 in comfort. It is easily maneuverable and with a BHP of 195 power and 400 above torque you will never feel lack of power even on twisty climbing ghat roads with all five persons and brimful luggage of about 7 suitcases. The parts are costly , every part has to come from Korea. That is it. One drive shaft had cost me Rs.58000 and suspension bushes for all , entire rear part of the suspension cost me as much as Rs.84000 and a new steering rack , had cost me as much Rs.75000/= The car is very delicate , with soft suspension and your wife and children definitely like it to the core of their hearts. It has good leather and very wide seats. The common problem reported by most users is rear suspension creaking noise and steering becoming too much soft or some problems associated with it needing to replace entire steering rack But the car is highly reliable world wide for long , long tours and it is far well developed or engineered than the likes of Innova, Fortuner , Harrier etc., In extreme cold conditions my daughter uses SantaFe in USA and I am using it here in India. The engine is very reliable and it is costly to maintain to keep it spick and span. Remember all people do not like soft suspension giving you a feeling that you are gliding in the air.
