This theme carries in it such vast, immaculate grief. It's easy to get distracted by the sci-fi side of the movie and forget that this is really about a world ravaged by war, both in the past and present. I think this theme is made all the more tragic if you read the manga, its beautiful hopelessness resonates all the more with this fantastic theme. It is not a theme of happy endings but of a vast epic that stretches on for hundreds of years and that will continue on for more years to come, way beyond the story of this movie / manga.

This track is so well done it almost feels too good for Nausica of the Valley of the Wind and I definitely enjoyed the film.

Watched this in theaters today and my mind was blown.

Kushanna's theme reminds me of two scenes from the manga- one where she is telling Kurotowa about her mother and the illness in her mind that makes her reject Kushanna as her daughter (which breaks my heart because Kushanna looks almost identical to her mother, clearly taking after her genetically). The other scene I am reminded of is where she and a squad of her men are overwhelmed by insects and are hiding in a trench. Kushanna starts singing to her men as the insects rage around them and they are huddled against her, afraid to die but ultimately they all survive thanks to Kushanna's calmness.

This was my first studio ghibli movie. It was so amazing, such a beautiful, out of this world experience. Till this day i havent experienced a movie thats given me the same feeling. Some strange sense of nostalgia and wonder, beauty and pain. Theres just something about this movie that i appreciate so much. Needless to say, it inspired me to watch like 10 more studio ghibli movies lol
