Gorillas are such amazing climbers bc they have 4 hands. That makes all the difference in the world. Humans are bad climbers. But we are excellent at long distance endurance running, which gorillas are terrible at. They can only run for very short distances. Interesting how such small changes between us makes for huge capability differences. Just the big toe in a slightly different position completely changes what both of our species can do.

I am just amazed that these creaturs to big and strong become so on such a simple diet of three bark leaves, fruits and such and yet with theeth that look like they coudl bite you head off.

I’ve been to this amazing zoo since spring 2017 and that’s where I met redd as a baby and his mother batang as well including bonnie and redd’s father the alpha male kyle. Bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus) are such amazing animals and the apes are listed as critically endangered. Also on August 19th is international orangutan day!
