there are lots of events that if you finish gives you crystal, also daily missions, rivals in arena, and finishing hell modes. Then sometimes you get lucky with wishing well, that's how i get my crystals. I actually never spent a dime on this game

I am also a F2P player, and buy scrolls using crystals. I've gotten pretty good monsters from mystical scrolls before so I like to take my chances. If I don't get anything good, at least i've gain some fodders.
