You are right George. This is an unedited version but yes, I could have been a little softer with the left hand! :) The bass clef pattern / the left hand rhythm is almost the same throughout the piece and if played at the same pitch it may sound muddy hence thought i'd make the left hand notes ring a tad bit louder to express different passages in a more distinctive way by stressing on the harmony here or there... (Just my interpretation 😊) I appreciate your feedback & thanks for liking my performance.

Thanks for writing in. I'm glad you liked it. This piece is fairly simple (early intermediate level, i reckon). It's mainly the coordination between both hands and feet to get this piece sound right. Correct pedalling is the key :)

this is a hard one, bcs have to do long phrasis and a good touche to play correctly

Albeit, there are many interpretations of this iconic piece, it's simple arrangement allows the performer to add in their own dynamics to express certain passages. Neither the harpsichord nor the clavichord of Mister Bach's time had a sustainer pedal, nor any other pedals. The early pianos did, from the early 1700s, but Bach did not compose for that instrument, to my knowledge . The sustainer was not patented mid-1800s, when it was added as the third pedal to the forte piano ("forte": loud, "piano": soft), long after the master had gone to his reward. And I'm wondering where, on the surviving original sheet music for this Prelude, which I have been playing from memory for about seventy years, you have observed any notations by Johann regarding use or "sustainer" pedal, or any other notations? 🤔

Hi Lisa, thanks for asking this question :) As you would have noticed that there are no pedal markings on the sheet music. However, pedalling is required so that the melody & the harmony are clearly evident. I suggest you lift the pedal at the beginning of each bar, keep it pressed till the end of the bar & change it again in the next bar with the base note. As you play along you will eventually get the feel of the rhythm, pedalling gets pretty much intuitive throughout the piece. I hope this answers your question. Happy practicing 😊🎹

Yes, one of the easiest preludes to learn and certainly fun to play as well. I suggest, you can select the playback speed to 0.5x to begin with. Practice slow to play fast, as they say :) Happy learning!

Yes, it is one of the easiest sounding preludes but can get quite tricky to play. J..S Bach's Prelude in C major is written in common time - 4/4.

The notes are all sixteenths no triplets. But there is a tendency to play the six notes of the right hand with a triplet feel but purists prefer no triplets

Hola, Well the sound in my videos are edited in post production using various plug-ins, VST etc. Most digital pianos sound alike hence choosing one depends upon individual liking. I suggest that you should try your hands on a few in your local music store to check out the sound quality and the look and feel of it. If you are a beginner pianist then in my opinion one should invest in a mid level digital piano. I use a Yamaha P45B. You can consider "Casio CDP S360 BK" which is another good option with similar price tag to begin with. Let me know which one you finally bought! :) Hope this helps ☺️
