They were modernised

*Update on the Old Otis Lifts at Waitrose in Epsom. The left hand lift has now been modernised by Otis, it has the vega voice (similar to the orange car park lifts in Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton) and it has the same buttons as the one in John Lewis in Bluewater. The lift car and the logo are still original. The right hand lift which is still original wasn’t working when I went and as it is awaiting refurbishment.

Car park A lifts serve all even number floors G 2 4 6 8 10 12 and do not have an audible announcer. Car park B two lifts serve even numbers levels and one lift serves odd number levels with four even levels -1 0 1 3 5 7 8 9 11 12 and do have an audible announcer.

That chime at 2:21 Is super cool, also these lifts are now a piece of crap and are now Otis ModLogic sadly and the glass is now covered.

I think these lifts were modernised twice in their lifetime, the first time in the mid 1990's, because I never seen them buttons on Otis lifts until about 1993 or 1994, and also, I don't know of any voice announcements in lifts prior to the late 1980's. Then in 2012, they got rid of these interesting lifts. I used to love to go to Dublin at Christmas or anytime of the year and the father would park in the Ilac Centre, and used to love going in these lifts. After they were modded, they were not worth riding anymore. RIP Otis lifts- 1981-2012

Unfortunately, all four of them lifts are now completely modernised by Otis. Them glass lifts were the first glass lifts in Ireland, installed in 1981 when the centre was built. Now they have covered the glass so you cannot see out anymore.

I don't know why but I'm terrified of these lifts.
