He apparently sees this as some underground, out of the public eye type of battle. Drake is a pop star/ rapper... where beats & trends has been a big part of his staying power. Dude is looking threw the lens of the battle rap scene. The general public don't care about the things they trip on. Besides that... Kendrick don't make music females and teens identify with compared to Drake.

Rap at its core has always been about authenticity, rhythmic rhyme, and lyricism. That’s true hiphop. Not this kids bop hip hop that makes ppl too dumb to actually think.

He is preserving the art form as it originates from his culture not some corporate peddled bs that requires Drake to put on a costume every single day for an audience more interested in fads and shallow aesthetics. Drake may have staying power, but that’s not stopping him from being deeply insecure. His whole persona is an act.

RAP BATTLES have never been about beats nga! They started in the streets of black neighborhoods! Also in a battle the artists have to write their own lyrics! You can't win a Rap Battle with somebody else's pen, cadence, flow, etc. Where you ngas from? Canada!

If Drake is a (Pop Icon) and makes great shopping mall music as Yasiin Bey says... why would this battle only be for the chosen few to speak on? This battle isn't underground for Elite listeners. It's a public affair. I get the sentiment, but this is just a chess move for pop-star Drake and his agenda to stay relevant by any means.
