this was filmed in april of 2022 in Seattle, WA. i used only my camera, a lav mic pack, and the available lighting in the room. i had this idea in my phone notes and decided to bring it to life with some spare time i had in my hotel room while working a gig. i originally scrapped this, and just a few weeks ago while looking through all my drives, i decided to dust it off and try to make it some...

DON'T BUY THE SONY ZV-E1. Buy This Camera Instead

the release of the new ZV-E1 has me very confused. despite the hype on youtube and in camera world, i don't think it has much of a place in Sony's lineup... at least at it's current price. If you want my short and sweet answer, buy an FX30. it's nearly the same size and is such a more well rounded device for content creation and for growing with into the future. SOCIALS: IG: elia....

Nice to meet you, intermediate Joe, I’m intermediate Joe, too.
Are you interlacing when capturing within OBS?, post-capture or not at all. Seeing conflicting info on whether it's necessary as most video players are doing it now.
How is there only 1 other comment where the video is not showing after selecting the device - screen is all black. Any thoughts? (With the included software years back, the video displayed immediately)
my camcorder does not appear on obs. What could be the problem?
Driver?
I prefer videos like this where there is a talking head section. I feel like I’m getting a more distilled and intentional story than a video where all the talking happens on the fly in the moment. Plus when you’re on trips with friends and family you wanna stay as present as possible. That’s already going to be hard enough when you’re running multiple cameras trying to get the best photos and video you can. Man, that shot of the fisherman really is great.
really appreciate you saying this. i have high standards for my content and was hoping this wasn’t gonna be too boring. i do like this format too because ive gone on several trips this year that i can reflect back on as well. glad you enjoyed the photos too. thanks so much for checking out the video 🙏🏻
An inspiration.

Yes sirrrr
Looks banging! I would love to get one but i just was gifted an iphone 16 pro. So i feel like filming on that with LOG and a lut means its not worth the money to go for the osmo. That being said I would still love some. Your footage looks incredible. are those luts for sale?
@@TahirAli-dj5qv i really need to upgrade my phone lol, i’m on the 13 pro. i also don’t love using my phone for video content even though the cameras on most new phones are awesome. in your case it may not be worth it to get the pocket 3 unless you know you’d use it a lot. and thanks for the kind words! the luts are for sale, i’ll drop a link! www.joelfamularo.com/colour-dji-fuji
@@TahirAli-dj5qv i have no connection to those luts by the way, other than the fact that i use them religiously. phantom luts have been a godsend for my FX6 and A7S3 footage, so i knew i had to get them for the pocket 3
Use a V mount wtf

Just now seeing this vid (and your channel) for the first time - this will be my reaction when I eventually get an FX6 soon!
My vcr player only has a scart. Can I still do this
Good review though I've only just found your 2 year old video. I have the problem with access to the internal battery using Smallrig mounts and rods. Far easier to use a NPF adapter with the camera's DC input.
Thank you so much for making it so clear for someone technologically challenged. Im older generation and this simple step by step was great.
Hello, I have a question, I normally use OBS to make Streams on Twitch and I already have everything arranged, the overlay and things like that, if I change the resolution so that the video does not have those black stripes that will move all my other scenes and I will have to arrange everything again later when returning to the original resolution? Thank you so much!
Dope
good advice, I am in the process of determining what point and shoot to purchase. Your insight has helped. Thank you
I've got to thank you, because it was this video that clued me in to the idea of powering my X-T2 via NP-F batteries rather then the mini V-Mount I was planning to drop £139 on. I used a ZGcine battery plate and mounted that on a cheese plate attached to the rig via 15mm rods. Picked up an NP-F950 for £18.99. That ONE battery is the mA/h equivalent of SIX of the W126s batteries that my camera takes! The best part is my rig is entirely transferable, apart from the cage, obviously, so when I finally upgrade to the X-H2s I can power that camera the same way. The battery, cheeseplate, battery plate and rod clamp baseplate costs were still significantly cheaper then what I would have dropped on the V-Mount battery alone, and you're right; for people like myself this is by FAR the better option!
This is the camera I'm looking at powering now. I wanted to use the battery grip still. How are you connecting o the camera? Thank you.
@@boahandarrowsproductions4326 - I have the battery grip for my camera and I literally just use it now for charging the camera batteries. I connect my NP-F battery to my camera via dummy battery, so USB C from the Battery plate to a w126 dummy that takes the place of the regular battery. I wasn't keen on using the USB port on the camera for power since it's so stupidly fragile.
@@Bramleyhousemedia That's a good point on the USB powerside. Do you still get 30 minutes recording time with the dummy battery solution? I was also looking at the Tilta power side handle to power the camera.
@@boahandarrowsproductions4326 - Yeah, unfortunately that's a hard limit set in camera. From what I understand those limits are set by manufacturers because once you have a device that can record more than 30 minutes internally it becomes a video camera, and therefore is taxed differently. Having that recording limit allows them to keep the price down and differentiate between a mirrorless camera that happens to be able to record video and a full fledged cinema camera,
@@Bramleyhousemedia Thank you for the explanation. What I mean to say is, with Boost mode with the grip, you get 30 minutes of recording. Will the dummy battery default to the 15 minutes since it's not using the grip's Boost option?
I have a canon R6 with all RF lenses. It became a pain in the ass lugging the camera bag around when I was with the wife and kids. I think I may need to pick up this little compact
@@rudyrivera2964 the canon G7X cameras aren’t bad either and offer similar performance if you did want to stick with canon. you lose the viewfinder though which is my favorite part of this camera. definitely worth checking the sony out either way!
Hello, after an hour of recording my vhs tapes i have a slight delay to my sound.so i have to stop the vhs cassete and play it again to fix.my audio settings are default any ideas how to fix this?

way to break it down. I currently own a Rx100m7 and totally love this thing. I have a full-frame Nikon z5 and bring the Sony for the ride. Comparing both images, Nikon will look better, but this one-inch sensor does not play around. Autofocus is top-of-the-line. I am currently waiting for my micro 4/3 Olympus to compare with the Sony.
this is exactly how i feel! of course it doesn’t stack up to my full frame sony, but in several ways my full frame does not stack up to the rx100. i can’t put it in my pocket, take it into concerts/festivals, etc. the rx100 is so flexible and the image quality is remarkable for what it is. i’m excited about the future of tiny 4/3 cameras as well. thanks for the comment!
Loving your videos so far! Quick question, does the compression you get with a APSC matches the same on a full frame? Given the same equivalent focal lenght.
@@iammarkbauer thanks so much! the compression does not quite match. it isn’t a huge difference, but there definitely is a noticeable difference between what something like a 50mm 1.4 would give you on full frame vs APSC
Hi , a friend told me that i could damage my monitor or my camera by powering the monitor and the camera with the same battery , since it might create a loop through the hdmi, is this real? Im scared now😮
dummy batteries can definitely cause issues sometimes, but as long as you are getting something from a reputable brand you should be fine. also make sure you are using the correct cables with the correct voltage. you should only run into issues if you are trying to use too much voltage into your power inputs
i got a video signal to play in the properties window but still not in the capture window hmmm
You're from Louisiana - the hat.
lol, south carolina! close enough
I've just started doing this, I'm using a startech connector but I've hit a speed bump with certain videos. It seems there's a problem with video with any that are in "LP" or "long play". The video either cuts completely or intermittently, is there a workaround or fix for this??
Now will this work with the canon R10 camera

Finally someone said it. Thank you!!!
I don’t know with the fx3 I just don’t really see the point in the fx6 other than more modular and built in NDs.
i hear you. the FX3 is the better choice anyway for several types of gigs. after having the FX6 for a year and a half or so now though, it is the best camera ive ever used by a mile. the body design and hand grip alone makes it miles better in my opinion, and it's something you really wont appreciate until you use it and really get a feel for it. i do not miss rigging out my A7S3 and i still dont rig it whenever i use it today other than adding a v-mount battery. hand grips and figuring out cables and everything on a mirrorless/FX3 type system is truly a pain for me and i never enjoyed it. i never had a rig i was happy with. the FX6 out of the box plus the tilta v-mount plate is ready to go for literally anything and it feels perfect (to me). the ND is another thing that you wont see the beauty in until you have it. it sounds stupid and pretentious but its true. i truly hate having to use the screw on filters on my A7S these days. i use my FX6 whenever possible bc the variable ND with zero color shifting is an actual Godsend. i wasn't planning on going this long with the reply lmao but i started thinking more as i wrote this. at the end of the day use whatever you are most efficient with and what you like using. i knew what i liked and didnt like about my setup and the FX6 answered most of the requests i had. it is a very badass workhorse of a camera that will run laps around literally anything else on the market as far as efficiency and all-around capability goes. i firmly believe that. does anyone need it though? of course not. the A7S3/FX3 are still 2 of the best cameras on the market in their bracket, and you get the same image as the FX6. we are all winning lol
