Nearly half of the cities & counties may lean liberal but all but 2 states (Maryland & New Mexico) are massively conservative with super majority GOP state houses. This says a lot about the so-called 'party of law & order'.

I think for a long time Louisiana was the deadliest state, but Mississippi has seemed to surpass it. It's no surprise that a lot of these states are also very poor. A lot of these are also Southern states. Hotter weather seems to also incite more crime.
The eastern coast of the Hawaiian islands gets the vast majority of rain. The western coast doesn't get much.
Most of these cities are in SoCal and considered conservative politically. Gee, what a surprise, considering their leader and all. Guess their big, bad boogeyman which they think is San Francisco, isn't so bad after all.
This list is garbage!!! You cant tell me Compton, Barstow, Victimville, Banning, Los Angeles, Lancaster, Palmdale, Brawley, Salton Sea, or Colton didnt make the list? San Bernardino is the biggest county in the U.S. there are many dilapidated cities within that have massive crime rates.

#1 on your list didn't surprise me at all. But your comment on Idaho isn't accurate, Idaho is not mostly desert. The Snake River Basin and a good chunk of southern Idaho shares the Great Basin Desert with Nevada, but the central and northern part is mostly forested.
