Algonquin October 2024
3 days in the park, starting at access point 3. A couple of rainy days on either side of a moody [then sunny] Day 2 - typical weather for October. Day 2 was spent mostly along the winding Petawawa, pulling the Canoe over/down several beaver dams. Turns out, I had my Yoke pad upside down & didn't notice until a windy Day 3 & found myself later huddled under a sturdy cedar for about 90min on the 440m portage (east side of Ralph Bice) due to thunderstorms rolling through... stayed tight to the shoreline between thunder cracks, inching back to the beginning with limited battery power for filming.
Stick around until the end for some out-takes.
Canoe: Cedar/Canvas 1974 Chestnut Pal
Route:
Day 1: Access 3 - Magenetawan - Hambone - Acme - Daisy
Day 2: Daisy - Petawawa - Little Misty - Queer
Day 3: Queer - Little Trout - Ralph Bice - Hambone - Magnetawan

A 3 day trip in the park & first crack at filming a trip. Arrived a little later than expected (on the water at 4pm) that altered route plans on the fly, since sundown in October is around 6:45pm. No footage on Day 1 and landed at camp well after dark, guided solely by a circling Bald Eagle, narrowly missing boulders & fallen trees. Weather was typical for October - Snow, freezing temps, wind, ...
I enjoyed the video very much. I prefer videos with little to no talking and little to no face talking. Particularly like the outtakes! These kinds of videos tide me over until I can get out on my canoe. Thanks again!!
@@GlassPaddler totally agree - I wanted the viewer to feel peacefulness in the solitude - like what I find while on trip. Glad you enjoyed - thanks for watching & hope to see you out there after break-up! Paddle on!
Very Nice! I gave you a wave as I paddled past your campsite on Queer Lake on the morning of day three. That was quite the thunder storm eh? It hit me as I was paddling to the west side of Ralph Bice... yikes!!!
I remember! Was it you in the orange kayak? Hope you were able to stay dry(-ish) & had a great trip.
No, I was paddling a carbon Swift Prospector 14. It was early in the morning. I had paused close to your campsite to take some pictures; looked over my shoulder and saw you.
@ ahhh yes - I was still half asleep. Maybe our paths will cross again & stop in for a coffee. See you out there!
Nicely done - a very relaxing vibe to your camera and editing methods. I hope to spend some time in Algonquin this year; this video only increased my anticipation. 👍👍
@@flynorthproductions I always feel more at peace out on the water & wanted to bring that to the screen for those that couldn’t or haven’t yet been able to experience first hand. Thanks for the view & commenting - hope to see you out there & hope you find what you’re looking for!
Beautiful Algonquin 🙂
Glad you feel the same as I do - thanks for watching & commenting!
@@benjaminduncan3833 keep it up bro
Beautiful!! Although I must say that I cannot imagine portaging that awesome ship!
When you're surrounded by so much beauty, the weight just drops away. Thanks for watching & the comment!
