RC Sand Drags
Side by side RC sand drag racing in eastern North Carolina. Hosted by NCRC Mud Motorsports, this event featured two classes, straight axle and unlimited. It was double elimination.
The track is 80' long and each lane is 8'6" wide. A BB Road Runner Tree was used.
Like all of their events, this RC sand drag racing was super smooth and professionally run. The team that hosts and runs these events participate in full-size motorsports, so their experience definitely shows in the RC events they put on.

Most vehicles fit general Class 2 specifications. There were no scale points, no penalties for reversing, touches, rollovers, winching, hands of god, repositions, etc. Hitting a gate was a 2-minute penalty and bypassing a gate ...

Great advice. Thx!
Awesome! I love the sand drags. I live by the beach but don't know anyone who does it here in South Jersey. I just subscribed to your channel.👍👍👍👍
Excellent content bro keep it up!!!💯
Looks great, put me to thinking that I don’t have a single rig on straight axles 🫤
Hey everyone! I'm the developer of a game focused on off-road trials with R/C scale models. I've got an interesting opportunity I’d love to share with you. Please reach out-my contact info is on my YT page. Thanks!
Recently I got back into the hobby. I don't have a sled yet but I do drag a pretty heavy tow chain😊
Great racing. You should ditch the center divider. Much more fun.
This is exactly why you add a wheelie bar
Not sure where u guys are located, but am from so cal and we race in Huntington Beach 🏖️. The cars used are anything from Traxxas and arrma mainly, 2wd chassis and 4wd chassis. There’s kids class stock 3s and then stock chassis 2wd & 4wd going from 3s to 8s. Then there is 2wd & 4wd unlimited class anything gos with up to 12s lipo battery 🔋 but I guess it depends on who is hosting the event. It’s a lot of and very challenging in a non traditional drag racing on asphalt or cement in my opinion
Looks way better like the little lowered ride height
I would love to just need to find somewhere close to me I live in Ohio
This isn't to far from greensboro. I just started racing in Mooresville, NC, tamiyas class. Definitely gotta check this place out
You’ll love it
Was that still stock 3.3 in the nitro slash
👍👍👍
Thank you for watching!
Looks like a blast, very cool! 👍
Thanks for watching. It was a ton of fun
Did that black and white truck have some kind of sound system in it to play real engine sounds?
Good ear. I believe it has the Traxxas sound module but other systems are out there
U mentioned straight axle. Would the portals not be a good idea? I have the scx10 iii gladiator which is a longer chassis. Im thinking of making it a puller. Any suggestions or would this jot be an ideal platform? Thanks
Portals would be fine. The Gladiator would probably pull strong. I'd add stiffer rear springs and a high Kv motor
How do I find out about events like this?
Best place to find events is www.axialadventure.com/axi-bs-event-calendar.html If you're in NC, join the Untamed RC Facebook group and the Gear Down Crawlers Facebook group.
Ole losi was comming!
It was ripping'!
Hey Matt, do you guys have a schedule of events? If so where can I find it?
No schedule for pulling. I'll post up on Facebook in a few groups such as Gear Down Crawlers and Untamed RC as well as my In2RC Facebook page. Hope to see you out
Just show Ms the original RC designs were for a reason that even 40 years later still use the same designs for racing
Simple 2wd buggy with the right driver , simpler and faster salute to the driver
Without a doubt driver was 100% the key to success in sand drags. I do, however, think we'll more and more dialed in and rigs specifically built for sand drags at future events
Nice
Thank you so much for watching
Amazing dedication to the hobby and community. Very very cool ❤
It's a great store and facility
3s
cool vid! appreciate the views number! keep it up! big like!! 👍👍👍
Thank you!!! Glad you liked it and thanks for watching and commenting
Are they limited at 2s??
A single 3s or less a couple had nitro This was the unlimited class so it’s basically run what you brung
I ran 3S, but 2S might have actually been better
Big fan of the Scorpion/Turbo Scorpion personally. Just ran mine yesterday and I enjoy running it every chance I get. I assume that's the track in Lucama? There aren't any tracks local to me anymore. The one in Duncan NC closed a while back unfortunately. I might have to check this track out. BTW, congrats and welcome to YT. I enjoyed reading your stuff when I subscribed to RCCA back in the day. Take care dude, and wishing you continued success on the ole' tubes.
Thank you, thank you. I had a pretty good thing going on UA-cam with my old RC Truck Stop channel, but I was really just using it to host videos so I could embed them easily on my website. This I'm treating like a true YT channel. World of R/C in Lucama is pretty awesome. Definitely check it out. I think you'll love it.
Super hot shot, fighter buggy rx, and fighting buggy otherwise known as super champ all Tamiyas cars. Like to see your take on those.
Love the Hot Shot line. I can't decide if I to get a Boomerang, which is a buggy I had as an original back in the day, or build up a Super Hot Shot. The Super Champ is an absolute classic! You can get a Buggy Champ right now, which s awesome.
You should get them all I have videos on two of them the super hotshot and the fighting buggy but it kept giving me problems that day. Hopefully this year it will not. Wish I had the money for the boomerang.
EaSily the funnest events to go to no massive rules everyone just having a good time meeting good people seeing some cool trucks and cars and thats it grrrr definately dont want to miss the next one
I agree. I don't mind rules, I just don't care for scale points and the debates they bring
Wow this hurt my feelings hahahahah I would have been stoked to come out. I'm right down the road me and a buddy with the misses went up to San Lee in Sanford to crawl around this would have been awesome.
Join us next time. People go to Battle Park as well all the time. Also, I do know they plan to have a comp at Wiggins Mill Reservoir in February
@In2RC-1 I'm without a doubt going to be at the next one I'm not much of a comp crawler I'm still just messing around I just love getting out meeting dope.people and enjoying myself and the trucks so count me in no doubt about that dude
@@JMWPREMIUM Awesome. See you there
More information on this comp would be great
@@djjinx919 Are you in NC? If so join the Untamed RC Facebook group. These guys do a lot of comps. Or was there something specific about this particular event you wanted to know?
Yes, my name is G I did try pulling for about around three years. It started in 1980s. I pulled 350 pounds with my club buster 4 x 4 x 4 modified gears and dry shaft change the speed controller and added a lot of weight to the front and stretched the vehicle into the RC pulling specifications. We made a adjustable hitch so you can adjust the hitch for when you’re pulling. I also added a gear reduction system so I can speed up the gears or slow the key is down that I added more to my pulling when I came down. Good luck with your RC and let me know how you make out.😊
Thanks for watching and commenting. Your Clod sounds awesome
That’s where my clod is now ! 17.5 w/b and 16# . Best has been 4 hummer tires with vectors in a wagon. 8” and that’s it 2.2 super swampers weren’t enough.
I Love this type of comp idea. less stress but still competing against time. It's got me thinking of hosting my own event :)
Glad you like it. I love the format too. Keep it simple, have fun. That's it.
Great video! Any way you could show the install of the sway bar? Or just a little video of how it mounts with the printed part? Thanks . Love my bronco!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching and super thank fun for the request.
trying to do a crawl off on turkey cock mountain in martinsville va
Set it up. I’m sure people will go
this is where we should have started just sayin
What do you mean?
This is on BAMF tire Inserts and not too bad for a 9 year old driver huh?
He did well for sure
Looks so fun! Where was this?
It was in Wilson, NC at a place called Wiggins Mill Reservoir
Looks like a good time!
Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The easygoing vibe and laidback rules certainly played a big part
Definitely a good looking rig for sure!
I’m loving it, but I have a soft spot in my heart for CJs.
Glad you were able to make it out. I hope to do some more events in the near future.
Right on. Thanks for doing all the work. Hosting an event is fun, stressful, and a ton of work
😎
Stunning Jeep! Happy New Year!
Thank you and you too!
Home run for Axial. Nice work showcasing the goodies 🤘
Thank you
This RTR is definitely on my radar this spring to save up and do some videos on! I cant wait to see one out on our terrain! Nice job showcasing the body details!
Thanks for watching and commenting. You’ll love it. It’s an awesome RTR. I’ve added the brass knuckles for the Pro, Pro-Line Big Bore shocks, and swap the tires soon.
Look forward to watching your vids
Thanks! im gonna focus more on running some RTR's and slowly make some upgrades this year. @@In2RC-1

Looks like a ton of fun!
Pulling is a ton of fun. Thanks for watching and commenting.
There's two points you made that one is true and one is pretty off. 1. RC is a small world - 100% true. Everyone knows everyone as for the manufacturers. In fact most of the people just jump from company to company - it's like the same 14 people and most of it started at HPI. 2. This one's somewhat unclear, but you mentioned about hiring yourself, but mentioned "Influencers" and NOT charging a fee. I can't disagree more on this one (If the "influencer" has an audience the vendor wants to tap into, that is). Having a UA-cam channel and 196 subscribers, yeah, you shouldn't charge a fee for the video. What's so toxic in the RC world specifically is vendors think that a product for video trade is fair. In some cases, it can be, but most, it's not (once again IF you have the audience). Going "back in the day" - vendors would spend $1,000's for magazines to "review" their new RC. Of course, it wasn't exchanged that way - it was a "Send me your vehicle AND place X amount on an ad for the magazine and we will "feature" it". Talk about bias. Well, we all know what happened to magazines. Fast forward to UA-cam "influencers" - sure, you get to play with all of the cool new toys and give your supposed un-biased opinion, but it's work. And a TON of work, especially if you put any kind of production value into your videos. Exchanging a $300 (retail) RC car for, in some cases 15-20 hours of work is pathetic. Even at best case, if the influencer sells the used RC, they'll snag about $150 before fees. That's at best $10 per hour of sporatic work. Now, on the flip side, that vendor just got an "influencer" to make a video, gather 50,000+ views on that video (remember hobby grade RC is a small world) in the first few weeks and sent at least 2,500 (5% of the views is typical) pre-qualified buyers to your website - and yes, I have tracked it. If 10% (of the 2,500) actually purchase that $300 RC, that's $75,000 the vendor raked in on that one video in the first few weeks - and those are conservative numbers. You can't buy magazine ads, Google ads, Facebook ads, etc for a mere $200 (the cost of that $300 RC) to gather $75,000 in sales. So, yes, qualified "influencers" should charge a fee and the cheap RC vendors should pay it happily. The kicker I saw was when the vendor asks for the vehicle BACK! Yes, that's happened many times. Just my $0.02 from this side of the fence.
Thanks for watching and commenting. You bring up a point worth clarifying. When I was saying don't charge a fee, I was speaking solely about people writing reviews for magazines or websites. And, more specifically, I meant people starting out in their efforts to build their personal brand. The product would be payment. Doesn't have to be, but it's a fair exchange for a written review. This doesn't include photos or video as that would be done by the magazine or website. Again, I'm just talking people new to the industry, not new to the hobby.
Killer info glad to know I’m going in the right direction. Been putting in a lot of work to get the Micro Crawler Club on the map and establishing its brand. Keep the tips coming!!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting. It does look like you're going in the right direction and making the right moves.
TY Sir!!!!@@In2RC-1
Great info, the biggest take away for me is to avoid the SM drama. Often I feel the need to right the wrongs or stand up for brands getting bashed. More and more I feel like pulling back the reins on SM. My grand scheme is to design and manufacture aftermarket parts as well as promote and grow my YT channel. I'm hoping to have my first batch of parts available by spring, I was hoping to get rolling this last fall but w/ potential new rigs and platforms staged to be released I had to step back and wait for the dust to settle .
Thank you for watching and commenting. Looking forward to seeing what you come out with this spring. Good luck!
