I waited until the rosters were announced before making this decision in 2023. For once, I was right about Japan winning. We all know what Japan can do, we all know what a lot of other teams do. The problem with most teams in 2023 was that they lacked in pitching because too many players had to sit out because insurance companies were telling teams they couldnt allow certain player to play because of their injury history. If the US actually had some decent starting pitching, I would pick them. All these great teams (US, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela) have all the hitting they need to get to the second round, but they lacked quality starting pitching to get to the finals, and even if they got there, Japan would mop the floor with them. Japan has the hitting and the pitching, the other teams get stuck with the insurance companies telling them who cant pitch.
