Thanks for the video, simple and to the point!
Just bought mine and got the lower rpm unit. Awesome buy cant beat it
Thanks for the fantastic information. And telling the price. You did good..
Old I know. Anyone ever get a drill vice for these things. HF never has them and when I ask about one they never know which one would fit it if.
*I normally don't go out of my way to review products. I'm going out of my way for this one.>>>**ur2.pl/853** I got it on a whim for hobby - rc plane repair / building because coping saws are so painful and imprecise. I am very please. This is one incredible product. A band saw is too big for small pieces - this is just right & high quality.*
*Every child should have one of this. One Dremel Saw per child.>>>**coulc.it/AxyvE** It will revitalize American fabrication high end industry. No need to buy barbie dull houses from China. Every child in USA can make them, customize them DIY.*
Sweet! Thanks!
does this table fit the 10" drill press of harbor freight
I got the 17in 16 speed. u can see the beast on my channel. nice video by the way
Now discontinued.
A brass coupler can be purchased at any hardware store for 2 bucks. It can be permanently attached to the small cup eliminating the. risk of cross threading the plastic threads
Nice tip!
wd 40 will cause fish eyes.. I do use the big gun, definitely worth buying
Bill Nye they do make a spray gun lube...
I actually use wd40 in my cup before pouring paint. That way the paint doesn't stick to the cup very good making it easier to clean
I'd use the plastic cup liners they sell, basically just plastic bags that you put inside the cup before filling and capping, then you only have to clean the cap. They also sell a quick change adapter to onto/into the guns that allow the use of the quick change disposable cups/liners which are awesome. The adapter at harbor freight is like $8 and the starter kit of disposable cups is $17 if I remember correctly, very cheap alternative to using your stock cups!!
Thanks! Do you know if the Mk2 Scirocco is the same?
This looks alot nicer than their new 8" model.
YES, it probably scratches the paint. Sliding a Super-SHARP Stainless Steel Blade across SOFT plastic paint = SCRATCHES - IMHO.
Good stuff thank you! How much was the table attachment? I'll splurge on that as I got the drill press for only $12 at a garage sale.
Nice video. I have been thinking about this drill press and your review has pretty much made me decide to get this press. It looks like it would be a good investment for what I need. I am working with pretty limited space and somewhat limited funds. I like Harbor Freight stuff, but their products are hit or miss sometimes. Keep up the good work.
Do you think the whole in the table is big enough to drop in one of those small routers and could double as a router table?
Good review. I really appreciate.
This was an excellent review thanks for posting.
Would this be a good press to use for milling out 80% polymer lower receivers for an AR 15?
johnsheppardfan yes. im looking at it for aluminum.
johnsheppardfan Did you end up buying this for milling out 80% polymaer lower receivers? Because I was thinking of going down to harbor freight and buying this for the same exact thing.
Not yet, but hope to in the near future.
Yea i built ars aks and mac 10s with mine also suppressor baffles
Thank you
I don't know if you are still looking for an aluminum cup for the touchup gun but the devilbiss starting line guns are the same as this ones, and they sell a small aluminum cup that fits this little gun perfectly.
+Rene Contreras thanks!
+Rene Contreras Thanks!
Holy crap... Im gonna pay what i bought these guns for just the cup.
when ever i'm goofing with belt ETC, I always unplug the machine as a safety. I've seen to many bad thing. Other then that, great info. I'm using a hand me down drill press bought from Sears in 1968 and its getting tired.
where did you get the drill press table?
thanks
Awesome great thank you hope you make more videos of Corrado
I have one similar to this one that I got at Big lots for about 49.99 and love it. I have it on the lowest setting so I can use it for metal. I make useless metal projects with my drill press and farm hand 125 mig welder which I use flux core.
One thing I like about this table is that it's smaller than almost every other pre-built table/fence out there at only 11-5/8 X 23-7/8, and not everyone with a small 8-10 inch DP needs a bigger table. 35 bucks for the hardware alone wouldn't be bad, and you get a usable table and fence you can put into service while you figure out a few improvements and upgrades you can do.
very nice. when you put it back did you glue it down?? thanks
so you just push the chuck all the way up? is that safe for drilling metal? I just bought the 3/5hp. By the way if you ever needed to replace it what to do?
does the razor blade scratch the paint ?
I bought several of these 7+ years ago when they were $40 and they are still working hard today. Not a professional press by far but a weekend warrior's dream. I also have a floor standing model that I paid like $300 for that is outstanding. Powerful enough to make rosettes and cut 3" holes using large forstner bits with ease. Again, great for the Diyer but not for the everyday pro.
Can the z axis be locked into position?
You mention you're worried about moisture, seal your edges. I'd probably use johnson's furniture wax, but you could use what ever sealer you want.
The Skill 3320 goes for a little over $100 on Amazon, and it blows the Harbor Freight drill press away. It is a 10" drill press, and has lazar sighting, and is more than one step up from Harbor Freight. I shop at Harbor Freight all the time, and one thing I never buy from them anymore, is anything that has a motor, gears, or bearings. I hope you don't need to ask me why. Yes, it all comes from China. But did you know that some of the very best of everything also comes from China?
Here for the chuck too!
Just wanted to thank you for this - very helpful
is this strong enough to go through 3 inches of steel?
Chris3836 lol no way plus only has like 2in of travel
It is like this on purpose. If you have the drill centered on the square than you only have one location that works as a sacrificial plate for the drill bit. If you put it off center than you can lift it up and rotate it 90 degrees for a total of 4 sacrificial locations per square plate. If you build your own I highly recommend putting yours off center. Good question.
Why doesn't the square hole in the table line up centered with the drill bit?
I had wondered about the chuck but you explained. thanks!
