"Dont ever compare patrick ewign to bill russell". Did you ever actually watch footage of Bill Russell? It's out there. I've watched full games from that era, and I'm really not exhagerating when I say that watching Wilt play against the Celtics felt like what you'd expect to see if you watched Joel Embiid on a team of high shool kids against another team of high school kids. Wilt ws legit - he wasn't just big, he was skilled. He could handle the ball, he could run, he could shoot. He was also the only guy on the court who looked like he would be capable of being a star in the modern NBA. Russell looked like MAYBE he could gret 10-15 minutes on some moderrn day NBA teams as a pure defensive specialist (i.e. a Dennis Rodman type). The guy couldn't handle the ball, he couidn't shoot, he had limited post moves. He was an elite defender and rebounder who was able to get some shots here and there from offensive reabounds/putbacks and layups. The rest of the guys on the court looked so bad that if they played on a modern day high school team they would get laughed at and booed off the court. They could not dribble the ball, bricked wide open jumpers from 10 feet, and looked awkward as hell on the court. If Patrick Ewing in anything close to his prime played against prime Russell 1 on 1 I can guarantee you that Ewing would have absoutely DESTROYED Russell. And before you try to make any arguments against that actually go back an watch one game of Ewing in his prime against the most dominant big man of his era (Shaq), and one game of Bill Russell in his prime agasinst the most dominant big in his ear (Wilt). If you are even remotely capable of putting your bias aside, you will agree with me wholeheartedly by the end of that viewing. If Ewing played in Russell's era he would average 40 PPG and 30 RPG and would have been a Wilt-like force. Same would be true for Robinson, Hakeem, Shaq, Karl Malone, Barkley, or even a guy like Mourning. Russell was effectively a less athletic version of Dennis Rodman. That's no exhageration. Rodman had a similar height/build, had similar defensive ability, similar rebounding ability, and similar offensive ability. If Rodman played in Russell's era he would have pretty much been Bill Russell. I hate saying all this because I'm a Celtics fan and I have immense respect for Bill Russell for his championship success and for being such a great ambassador fo the game - but unfortunately if you watch the actual games the reality is undenible. As for Ewing vs Barkley - it's a close call. Statistically they were both spectacular...but Barkley had a LOT more help during his career and he never got any further than Ewing did. Barkley played with guys like Julius Erving, Moses Malone, Kevin Johnson, Majerle, Ceballos, Hakeem, Drexler and he couldn't win a ring. Ewing fell one win short of a championship with a team full of role players. Likewise Ewing played in the greast era of big men in the history of the game. He played in an era with Hakeem, Robinson, Shaq, Mutombo, Mourning - and he held his own against those guys every time he played them. The only elite PF Barkley ever had to really play against most of his career was Malone, and if you look at the head-to-head stats you'll see that Malone generally outplayed him in those head to head matchups. I also find it hilarious that you make a big deal over Ewing being dunked on "maybe 5 times". Ewing was a rim protector playing in the greatest era of big men the NBA has ever seen, in an era when three point shooting was frowned upon and the league's offenses were run inside-out. You have a guy who was being attacked every single night on offence for some 15 years and you can only find like 4 or 5 cases of him being dunked on? Look how many videos there are of Mourning Robinson, Hakeem being dunked on? I can think of at least 4 or 5 right off the top of my head. If you're a big man playing in the 80s/90s you were going to be attacked at the rim every single night, an every now and then you would get dunked on. It's that simple. Some people used to mock Hakeem at the time because he would sometimes move out of the way just so he didn't get dunked on an become a poster. What do you respect more? A guy who challenges the dunk and gets beat, or a guy who just moves out of the way? Ewing was an elite defender, an elite rebounder and an elite scorer. He played against at least theee top-6 all time centers (Shaq, Hakeem, Robinson) and held his own against all three. Was he quite as good as Hakeem and Robinson? No. But he was really, really close. Oh and that shot that you said was the "biggest fluke" and that he would make "1 out of 14". I'm not sure how many times he would make that shot if you had him repeat it 14 times, but what I *do* know is that Patrick Ewing was (and to this day still is) considered one of the greast jump shooting big men ever to play the game. He didn't shoot a lot of threes because at that time big men shooting threes was considerd taboo and was frowned upon. But he as an ELITE midrange shooter, and if you look at his head-to-head matchups against guys like Shaq and Robinson it was more often then not his midrange game that he killed them with. He made the shots with exceptional consistency, and his height (7 foot), wingspan (7'4") and high release made that midrange jumper almost unblockable. Ewing is the kind of guy who probably could have played in the modern era because with reps he would probably be a very competent three point shooter. That shot was tough and would be a low percentage shot for any big man, but I think he'd make that shot more times then you give him credit for.

Enjoyable video! As an older senior golfer with a lower handicap (10.1), I liked what you had to say. I already carry a Mavrik 5 wood and 7 wood. Decided to buy a used Mavrik driver as a back up for my current gamer as I gave my backup to a very promising young lady golfer who was playing a starter type driver. Since my old backup was senior flex she could hit it much better than the starter driver.

By the way not too many of the Great three-point shooters or also 6 ft 9 and 1/2 small forwards. He was actually dominant in scoring, passing and rebounding.

The three-pointer was only added to the NBA Birds rookie season. So he did not grow up practicing 3-pointers there was no 3-pointer in high school there was no three-pointer in college. For the first few years of his career he barely took any. By the middle of his career he was shooting a lot more and won three consecutive Three-Point contests which is all of them that he entered.
