Hello, I'm Couch Potato and I am a casual gamer. I can give you a casual (or console player) point of view on ARPG, how to succeed as a casual, how to build your characters, complete season journey, etc. Mostly I play Diablo 4. Sometimes - Last Epoch, Diablo 3. Maybe - Path of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2 makes you feel guilty?
Casual dad gamer ranting about Path of Exile 2 and why this game might make you feel guilty :)

Easy strategy for casual players how to farm mythic uniques fast. No complicated builds, SOLO friendly. You will have your first mythic unique in the first week of the season.
PoE was designed for hardcore ARPGers. GGG is making strides in PoE2 EA to appeal more to casual gamers, but its DNA will always remain hardcore. By contrast, D4 was clearly designed for casuals. Not making any moral judgment as to which game is better, just different strokes for different folks!
While I disagree on a lot of the points, I'll say this- PoE titles are not meant for everyone (the devs admit this). And that's fine, just as it's fine for it not to be someone's cup of tea. I will say that it's likely that this is as hard as PoE II will ever be, at least in the campaign, because it's a lot easier to dial things back than it is to ramp them up, from the developer's perspective. A few quick patches so far indicate that this is the approach GGG is taking. A few tips if you decide to get back into PoE II: 1) Try out different classes- I started sorceress and while it's a capable class and I love casters, it just didn't sit well with me. I got about halfway through Act 3 and decided to make a Monk- what a difference that has made in terms of my enjoyment of the game. Now i'm almost done with Act 2 Cruel. Also, most classes don't really come online, in terms of the power curve, until about level 40 or so- the more potent skill gems and ability to get deeper into the passive tree are mostly restricted until then. Sure, there can be strong characters before 40, but that's more of a gear thing or stumbling into a happy accident with the build. 2) I've used the trade feature once- it was fine, but I am not a fan of the system due to the number of steps involved. You have to bring up a webpage, find an item, DM the person through the web portal, join party, meet somewhere, trade, then finishing out the deal. I've found that meticulous looting hording that results in selling and disenchanting/salvaging for materials has been a reliable pathway to quality items for my own character. Also, every time you level the vendors get a new set of items- check these every time you level. You can even go back to prior acts. You'd be surprised what you can find, including cheap items to salvage for materials to craft up decent stuff you have sitting in your stash. 3) Find a guild or make one with a friend (or two) that play. Get a guild stash tab and just share loot. My friend and I just dump whatever the other person could use in guild stash tabs. There's no trade shenanigans or hoops to jump through. We just have a gentleman's agreement not to get greedy with one another's finds, share what we find, and if something is sitting there for too long we're free to salvage it and put the materials in the guild stash to supplement one of our crafting sessions if our individual stashes lack the materials.
42 year old 60-70 hr full-time job gamer here. I respect your opinion but I completely disagree with everything here. This game feels like a callback to gaming that requires you to use your brain. Your iPhone argument is peak tard dopamine fix ADHD. My wife is computer dumb and has never had a problem with Android phones. I see why you like d4. My dog could probably play it.
Ouch, brutal take here, but as a 49yo gamer I tend to agree with your take more than the OP's perspective.
Aš tave mačiau!

Ppl dont hit lvl 100 in poe. Its quite rare atleast. Everyone gets "lvl 100" in d4. They are different animals you might say.
"I loved Diablo 3, barely played D2." Well in all seriousness, go back there. GGG's desire for New Blood notwithstanding, not everything is for everyone. If you're "meh" on D2 and think D4 is great, PoE of any flavor is Not For You. Also you're dead inside. Enjoy whatever uninspired drivel Blizzard cooks up for you next.
I get what you are saying and you have valid points from your perspective. I played Diablo 2, Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, Poe1, Torchlight 1 and 2. Diablo 4 doesn't cut it for me, it's a big disappointment. I finished the story with the sorcerer and after I tried playing the other classes and I stopped after lvl 25. The talent tress are bare bones, after you unlock your "ultimate" you have nothing else to look forward to. Then the shared open world, the quest design the so called "random generated dungeons" feel more akin to a an mmo like wow then an arpg like diablo and with the lack of real rogue like dungeon crawling the game has no replay value for me. While PoE2 redesigned some of it's over complicated stuff from PoE1 and kept the customization, the depth that I enjoy. D4 came out with 5 classes while Poe2 has started early access with 6 and will have 12 on launch. Any class can use any skill as long as they have required weapon equipped and while the talent tree seems intimidating, it's that big because it's the skill passive tree of all the classes combined on one page and every class has access to the page, it just differs the place you start building from.
I agree with you on D4. Endgame is non-existant. Blizz still won't give us leaderboards, which we had in D3. But what D4 gives, is a really good game for casuals - very easy, you can try multiple builds and characters because it's easy to level and gear. And at the same time it has some challenges, like farming mythic or reaching T4 or Pit 100. Yes, for blasters those are not the challenges and this is what Blizz should fix.
Remember this is version 0.1 lol. Maybe you should make an follow up video after the 1.0 has relased.
bro, they have 10+ years of player feedback that they pretty much have ignored!!! why?? game has exact same problems poe1 had and was more or less fixed, then why would sane person make those same misstakes again in poe2??
Baldur's Gate 3 is the best game ever made. Prove me wrong.
No need to prove, I'm playing it. Good game, just so fricking slow :)
If you don't want to interact, there's solo self found. The rest are legitimate points and I respect your opinion, although I think different.
"I want a smooth and nice experience out of the box" -> buys beta version of poe2 that still has a year of development to go before it releases, then complains it's not a smooth experience. As for the rest, I don't think I disagree with anything you said, most of it is an accurate description. However I have a pretty opposite value system, I mainly play games that are in some way hard/stressful/challenging, that's kind of the point for me, I don't play them to "relax". I mean I don't ever relax really, that's what sleep is for. POE2 is, for me, pretty chill, it certainly has balance issues in it's current beta state, but I've been enjoying it. I like every change they have made to the game vs poe1. It's more SSF friendly, the skills have a bunch of cool interactions, they cut out the high cost of respecing, the combat is still pretty smooth brain but at least there's *something* to it. From what I've heard I don't think D3 is a bad game, and it's probably a much better game for many people for many of the reasons you spelled out, and also why I'd likely hate it.
There is a very big difference in feedback between those who started playing with D2 and those who started playing with D3.
poe 2 will offer you a nice out the box eperience, in 1 year, when it really release, and is balanced. Fair critisism, but plz dont try to turn poe 2 into a casual game. Hardcore gamers also need games they can sink thousands of hours in. And for now, in the ARPG genre, poe is the only one. while casuals have dozens to choose from.
hardcore gamers can play hardcore soloself found ruthles bla bla bla!!! why game has to be balanced around nolife group players?? Do you play hcssf ruthles??? if no, then why you call yourself hardcore player?? you just have no life other than poe.
@@MrArchy1986 I'm not the one who advertised poe 2 had a hard ''souls-like'' ARPG, GGG did. And casuals are already trying to make it easy. Instead of even trying, they are crying. Why am i not playing HCSSF ruthless?, cause the gameplay has become boring AF, it's not about the difficulty. That's also why you're here commenting , instead of playing it.The only reason peoples have been playing leagues for more than 2 weeks for the past 1-1.5 years. Is because GGG is showering you with divines and mirrors. Not because the gameplay is engaging or even fun.. The only i am asking, is 1, only 1, ARPG that isn't a diablo-like. Exactly like THEY advertise. It's not about me being a harcore no-life gamer, it's about having something different. But i guess you don't get that, or you're just jealous casue you don't have a new toy too. Edit: There's alos a massive difference between losing your entire character, and 1 map, when you die.
@@obscurside3652 im sorry, but didnt you see builds already oneshoting new pinacle bosses, builds doing zoom zoom maping, groups having loot pinjatas...turn it how you want it all gonna end the same as poe1. we as players has less control over crafting, mapping, content in general. everything is rng. And if you got tired of poe1 campaign then this campaign is 2x worse. I have one character in the end game and I have zero interest to run another class ever. Its this or bust for me. Bottom line is- they have 10+years of player feedback yet they doing same misstakes they did in poe1 +taking away players control over game.
@@MrArchy1986 im sorry, but didnt you see that end-game is all poe 1 stuff copy-pasted? because they pivoted to end-game focus at the last minute. And yes, they need to balance stuffs out, and buff Boss hp by x10. I'm confident that it's coming. They also already ''fixed'' some of the broken builds/interaction. Don't you think that they deserve a break for the holidays? And again, the question is still the same, why can't peoples let them cook something different? I never siad i got tired of poe 1 campaign, it's the complete opposite in fact, I love leveling multiple characters, the end-game is boring, don't deny it. What did they add in settlers for end-game ? free mirrors, and 1 boss fight and gameplay that plays by itself (speaking about not having control), WOW. And poe 2 campaign was a total blast, did it 3 times already, it's the only poe 2 part of the game for now. Struggle a bit on my first character, in SSF, farmed in a few zone for mats or xp, just like we used to do,in the docks, dried lake or blood aqueduct. Boss fight where absolutly epic. While i can agree that the way the zone are designed, makes the campaign a bit tedious. They already have added checkpoints teleportation, and more improvments are coming. Once we learn layouts and stuff, shouldn't take much longer than poe 1, peoples are already down to roughly 9 hours, while it took me 14ish for my last characters.
@@obscurside3652 And how is this endgame better than poe1 endgame?? Atlas is a joke, same giant maze maps that take forever to clear over and over again. some shity towers that dont give any chalange. Finished Dorianis missions, cleared t15's and now what?? aimlessly run same zones for ever? Yes, 10x life of bosses and casuals will drop this game in heartbeat. Remember one death and map/extra content/xp lost.

Path of Exile (and challenging games like it) should be approached iteratively for less experienced and more casual gamers. There's nothing wrong with starting over and incorporating what you've learned with each iteration. You'll find the game suddenly becomes a lot less challenging and a lot more interesting, too. I'm not saying to give up at the first sign of a difficult trial or deadly boss -- approach those iteratively as well. I'm saying that you should treat the game as a constant learning process that improves your gamer skills and your experiential knowledge of the game with each new attempt. Try it!
If you’re constantly making the conversation about yourself, it’s hard to take your feedback seriously. ARPG fans are here for the game, not to hear about your personal opinions unless they actually add value to the discussion. The game is still in development, and a lot of players are excited for the full release, which is around six months to a year away.
Man just go for what ever you enjoy. I played a witch and I was not happy so I picked Ranger and I love it. I played D1 and D2 than I saw D3 and I was like nah this is not Diablo. PoE1 was my Diablo 2.5 and now PoE2 is my Diablo 3.5. This is how I feel but If you like D3 & D4 just have fun how U Like it and don‘t let anybody tell you how you should have fun (as long as it is legal)
"Ranger" you say... Maybe I should try again. I have nothing to do on Xmas :)
I wouldn't say that most of the things that you say in this video, weren't true, but some point you said, that the game feels slow, and you want to have faster build like in the end game? but then before that you said that you came from strategy games, how many strategy game do you start with everything in the game, for example, Starcraft you start with 4 Svc's and home base, not with 100 cap unit limit from the start. - PoE2 isn't for everyone for sure, but it is a theory crafter's dream, cause there is so much to taking in consideration, and all the mechanics can be tweaked. PoE2 may not be for casual players for sure. Another thing you said, was "I don't like interaction with other players" - well in D4 you more than often have to interact with other players for example Helltides or other overworld encounters, towns etc. In PoE2 you mainly have to interact with other players is in towns or with trading but you can always play solo self found. But we have saying in Finland "Mielelipiteet ovat kuin persereijät! - Jokaisella on omansa!" translated to Enlish "Opinions are like Gloryholes - Everyone have their own!"
First I would like to say that as Lithuanian I proudly preach in my daily life the best Finnish principle - Kalsarikännit :) Yes, RTS games are much slower. But not sure it worth comparing, I can drive both - skoda and ferrari, depends on the situation. Same with people - yes there are a lot of them in helltide, but I see them like NPC - I don't actually interact. I hate actual interactions - like group play, trade, etc. BTW, if you want to have almost full SSF in D4 - go hardcore now. I tried for some time - in 20 hours I met 2 (TWO) people on the map :D
The transition from the slow, methodical pace of the campaign to the fast-paced endgame feels off. The skills you worked hard to develop in the campaign don’t matter as much, and gear becomes the main focus. This shift takes away from the sense of progression and personal growth.
Great video; Dad gamer here. I feel the same way.
Glad I'm not alone :)
Fellow dad gamer here as well. IMHO - ARPG’s are generally chill experiences, where difficulty is offered by way of increased difficulty levels. So here comes PoE2 with its never ending dodge rolls and bosses that feel like Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, and it’s a culture shock. And yet - I’m still having a blast playing it despite many things find frustrating but that’s the give and take of playing an open beta. I’m excited to see what the future holds Merry Christmas gentlemen! 😎
Great video
Can you do a build video? Plz
It would be kinda stealing. I'm not good at theorycrafting so I use already made builds. In my case I'm running Rob's "Speed Pits & T4 (P300)" build: d4builds.gg/builds/c661ec20-5c71-43d9-9825-81bf67d07091/?var=12
I beat uber lilith last night and did get a spark. I used my sparks to craft my mythics from jeweler. The rune farming was a BIOTCH
Yeah, I blew my two on the blacksmith option and got something I wouldn't use. I still have not gotten another to break down. I've done dozens of bosses and not gotten another.
can i get mythic uniques without the new expansion?
Yes, you just have a bit harder time farming for boss materials. Kurast undercity is expansion only and it allow you to farm for boss materials much faster. But you still can do helltides, etc. and then do boss runs.
lot of this is just bad advice. while T1 does access the full loot table. the amt of loot improves with torment lvl. So if andy/dury have the same 3-4% ish chance to drop a mythic unique. on T1 it'll be less amt of drops. and T4 if able to farm there. will average out to more mythics rather quickly just from the raw math while runes are heavily RNG trading them with people is super easy. use the trade websites, or even trade chat. often can direct swap runes. Or sell other runes to have the gold to outright buy them. decent quality ladder/reg uniques can also be sold for decent gold amts. and any max affix gear for common builds will sell for tons of gold. making crafting mythic uniques one of the better direct sources of uniques.
You are right. If you like to participate in trading. Personally - I hate it. And there are a lot of people who want to play this game without any interactions with other people and especially trading platforms. I really hope Blizz will make some trading auctions inside the game. It would simplify things a lot.
Kill the boss and HOPE fo the Mythic - this bs started since season 2 loool
I've gotten all of two this season. Without having billions in gold to trade for runes, there's absolutely nothing easy about it.
Crafting sucks. Rune rarity is too high. I think it was intentional design from Blizz - to push trade.
@@CouchPotato-i2x Trading for items that vanish is soooo fun.
Ive grinded all the tormented bosses for hours and hours and never got one mythic. 😢😢
Oh man, this is ARPG luck. RNG is not in you favor. BTW, in theory, Duriel and Andariel have higher drop rate for Mythic, but personally I got more from Grigoire and Warshan. Maybe you should buy a lottery ticket - you are unlucky in D4, maybe you'll have your luck there :)
@CouchPotato-i2x can't really complain because I was very lucky last season with mythics lol
I've killed about 500 tormented bosses. Paragon 235 ish, but I still can't get a 6th Bac rune. And finally bought a Xol, was one short for crafting a mythic. It is the only way for my rng luck.
I must agree. Mythic crafting this season became much less attractive. Especially if you play solo and do not want to participate in any trade.
There is no easy way 😂
Thx! But let's be honest, the drop rates should be higher.
I'm not sure. This season Mythic are more common than usable two GA legendaries.
@@CouchPotato-i2x I've dropped 3 raw Mythic and crafted a random one. 2 of my mythics dropped almost back to back. So I think the drop rate is great.
I prefer it to be a lower drop rate since they have added additional ways to acquire/craft mythics, and the fact that runes are tradeable makes it better. I also feel like the chance to get one via obol gambling is on point - doesn't feel like one method is significantly better (quicker) than the others
Drop rate is decreased because the boss mats drop rates were increased. I would still prefer the season 4/5 drop rates and tormented boss system
Thx! But let's be honest, the drop rates should be higher.
Keep up the good content mate :) Looking forward to more
Thanks, will do!
Wow thanks for the waste of time
Hands down, Diablo 4 creators are the dumbest on UA-cam 😂😂😂😂😂
appreciate the vid. all good suggestions.
What a stupid video.
This season has been broken regarding mythics. I had 4 in the first 6 days. BTW season 5 is all but over. Maybe make a first week video in the first week rather than week 6. Just a thought.
True, that's why I'm trying to make a strategy not related to a specific season. But you are right, I will make more specific videos before S6 start.
@@CouchPotato-i2x Good luck mate.
I'm playing a minion necro because I enjoy it and I'm not worried about endgame maxing. Got a mystic grandfather sword and Tyraels armor and just incorporated it into my build. Makes me pretty unkillable 😂
Hard to hear you over the game volume bud.
Yeah, this is my bad, just starting with YT. Will make changes in future videos, thank you.
