Watch this! There is something in the woods. The horses have noticed the body language of the alpha mare. She has alerted the rest of the horses in the herd that there is a possible threat in the woods. Because horses are prey animals they will herd up and get close to each other because there is power in numbers. The horses need to determine if the threat is a predator. Wait until you see what it is! #youtuber #horse #horsebehavior #horsevideo #horsebodylanguage #americandreamfarm #horsegirl

What is a heart horse? Well, let me tell you. This is the story of Zip, my heart horse. #hearthorse

This is a celebration of life. Many of you have asked me which horse is my favorite. Zip was my favorite. And, for those of you who have asked to see me ride, if you make it all the way to the end of this video, you will see me ride the last Horsemanship pattern I ever rode on my Best Boy Zip. Zip died exactly 2 years ago today. Rest in peace my Best Boy Zip. APHA Zippidy Day 2/17/2000 - 9/8/20...

We feed the horses at a certain time every day. Horse’s digestive systems work very quickly. Once food goes into a horse’s stomach it will make it to the hindgut in three hours, which is very fast considering how long a horse’s digestive tract is. This is the length and capacity of a horses digestive system: the stomach can hold 8 to 9 quarts, the small intestine is 70 feet long and can hold 68...

We have to remember horses are prey animals. You can always tell when there’s a front coming through because of the horse’s behavior. When there’s a front coming through horses, feel the change of pressure and get whiffs of smells they are unfamiliar with which can put them on the run because they are prey animals. They are always on the lookout for predators. Horses are fight or flight animals...

Can wild pigs attack and harm the horses or try to eat them?
Great job teaching people about how horses behave, and, most importantly, Why they do the things they do.
Boone Incoming😂😂😂 My resues freaked when they saw the neighbors pigs. My 2 mares came running over to me in the field..Mommm!! What r those??😮 i told them i've git this girls and they were like ok😂
Wow, piglets! Hey, is Queen's color changing? It looks like she has two white spots on her ass that I don't remember.
I never heard of this that is interesting and strange at the same time 🤔
Just trying to save my bedding and your $$ ❤
Man that is freaky 😮
My Skip, who is never bothered by anything, was quite Wtf (sorry) when he met a pig for the first time - I gave him a pat on the shoulder - no stress dude. Zen ❤
Yet again, I absolutely love hearing anything you say about your experiences with horses and herd dynamics. Your voice is that of a storyteller. For me, I like to settle in and let you guide me into your wonderful world of experience and life of observations. So much appreciated 💖
Never had to deal with one of those, but I did get bitten by a deer fly once... Nasty bastards.
Only faster guard critters are DONKEYS! 🐴❤️🐎💞
Thank you for this video it did make you feel like I was riding again
My gelding used to come flying across the pasture in obvious discomfort from a horsefly, then slide his rear end right underneath my waiting hand. After a solid WHACK on the critter, my gelding would turn around nuzzle me and then trot off back to the other horses. Miss them all. Many pleasant memories... <3
That's actually interesting, you see friend of mine has horses and she canceled riding lessons on me but didn't tell me she was canceling figuring oh I would know because it's wet I didn't so I went up there and while I was waiting I kind of helped her mom with a couple of things around the stalls and she's like you want to feed I was like yeah sure and so I went in to feed the horse angled itself so that I couldn't get out from the main entrance to the stall and there was just like this pit of soft mud outside the other end of the stall so I'm looking at the horse and I'm like I got to get out horses eating so I look over at the horse and like hey so I put my hand on her flank and I'm like okay I'm coming up behind you don't kick me and I kept my hand on her hide kind of working my way around right across the top thing, back around my hand on her other flank I'm like okay thank you for not kicking me. That was great
Lovely tribute. Losing our friends is always the most difficult grief. So many people do not understand and think and say....just a dog or just a horse. They are here for our benefit to teach us many aspects of life and death without using words. I believe the communication is so deep it is unexplainable. I celebrate Zip and his many gifts to you and your daughter. What a special life!
Thank you so very much for your kind words. Clearly, you understand.
Animals know when it's their offspring. They can smell the pheromones. Boone and Fleur are so sweet together.
They definitely know. Thank you!

Thank you very much.
I have tears of sadness but mostly tears of pride and joy!!! Beautiful Zip!!! Both Zip and your family and everyone that interacted with him was truly blessed!!
Thanks so much for your kind words.
Thank you for sharing Zip's story with us. I hope the pain of making it is tempered by the love and appreciation we all feel. It finally occurred to me some years ago that the emotion I was feeling at funerals, for my Dad, sister, and Mom especially, was AWE. Awe that so many people thought enough of them to show up to pay respects. Many of my tears were tears of awe and appreciation even more than sadness. Took years to recognize that. I hope reading the comments doesn't pull you down, but lifts you up because by sharing Zip's story, you made it possible for us all to appreciate him too.
Yes! It's as if our hearts are very heavy because of the loss, however we feel honored to have such special humans and animals in our lives.
I am weeping and smiling for you. Weeping for your great loss and smiling because you knew the love of a great horse. They trot into our hearts and it's a bond like no other. Thank you so much for sharing this. ❤
Thank you. It truly was an honor to know the love of a great horse. There is no other way to put it.

U will see him again. He just crossed over sooner❤😢
I'm so sorry for your loss.
@@user-wn5ow9fp6i Yes, we will see our horses again. I truly believe this.
My heart breaks for you. What a grand pony!! Its hard to recover from a loss like your Zip. Over two years ago I lost big, red, copper glorious Zeus. I can't even really talk about it. How can they who loomed so large be gone? You gave Zip the honor he earned for he clearly loved you and your daughter as you loved him. 🐎💗
Thank you for understanding. I still cannot bring myself to remove his name from above his stall that Queen is in now, nor can I take his bridles down from his bridle rack. Zip's presence is very heavy in the barn.
Awesome horse 😊
Thank you.
Your pure emotion and videos of Zip had me in tears.
Same with me! Our heart horse was a 3/4 Arabian 1/4 Welsh. He literally taught this high functioning autistic man to ride & to love another living being. He was supposedly green trained & I was a completely unknowing person. Green on Green does not necessarily always mean black & blue. He taught me the language of Equines. My family had Turk from the times he was 3 until he passed at our present farm at the age of 30 in 2003. I will never forget you Turk! Its my belief we will again meet again across the rainbow bridge with my parents & all the rest of my now dearly departed friends. Turk was created for me, when he needed to pee so did I when he was thirsty so was I. Later we found out that had kidneys that had to avoid high protein feeds just like myself. I only now have only 1 kidney that functions & by following a restricted diet for protein like we did for Turk my #`s are almost in the normal range. I now live on a Thoroughbred farm that my mother & I developed in 1998 from scratch. All the horses think of me as a herd member. She picked the pedigrees for temperament & athletic ability.
@@frederickbooth7970 How beautiful! You gave your Turk a wonderful life and he gave you his priceless heart!
@@tristadav As I write this I`m crying a little as I miss Turk & our 1st Thoroughbred farm stallion greatly! Count Mein Too was my 2nd heart horse & he brought me back from a devastating accident at our now thankfully gone racetrack. We were threatened at that track & walked away from racing in 2004 & will never set foot on one ever again! Lots of really bad people who are tremendously cruel to incredibly sensitive Thoroughbred horses. No person could have brought me back to trusting horses again like Count did. I did not ride for a very long... time. 1 day Count looked at me with his big brown eyes & said trust me I`ve never hurt you & I never will. So gradually began to ride him in the aisle ways of our barn which I had built & later along the county road in front of our farm. He sadly passed in 2011 & my mother always felt he was poisoned after our win at 69/1 odds at Del Mar in 2010 against all open company. Our farm is located in Oregon & of course we received no $$ as our colt was an Oregon bred not California bred. Count lived just long enough to bring me back working with horses again. I miss both of you, Turk & Count.
Thank you. Zip was so very special to me.
@@frederickbooth7970 I share this belief with you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story of Turk. He sounds amazing.

There is no doubt that once a horse has your heart, there is no going back! They truly do have a special bond with us! There's just no way to describe it in words!

Monique THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. What a special beautiful boy, your heart horse. You shared a special bond. You can have 10 horses and love them all. As you know if your lucky you will have one that stands out. One that you understand and one that understands you. You can see it in there eyes. Feel it in there gentle nudges. Watch them run to you knowing that prance in there step is for you. I think horses running free is one of the greatest gifts God gave us. Zip looks down on you and says Mom this Rainbow Bridge is a beautiful magical place and when it's your time I will be at the bridge waiting for you and then we will cross together.
Monique I see how hard this was for And I'm am sorry for pushing this. My thoughts have been scrambled with the school shooting there. And so close to you. I pray for everyone. I hope you're ok.
Jeanne you have just put it all into words so perfectly. That is exactly how Zip acted around me. There was a very strong bond between us. Thank you.
@@jeannecedrone9831 You have brought me comfort. I have not brought up the school shooting, but trust me it really hits home with us as Tess and I teach students who go to Apalachee. We cherish this kids.

I truly believe that. Thank you for understanding.
I know this was a difficult video to make. He wasn't even my horse, but I am deeply feeling the pain and crying like he was, my own. Was Zip related to Boone and Fleur? Zip was a beautiful boy
It was extremely difficult for me to make this video. Thank you for being so understanding and for connecting yourself to us and feeling what we are feeling. This was a tough one, but I wanted to share my Zip with you. Zip was the first horse I got from the same breeder we got Boone and Fleur from. That man really knew how to breed horses. Sadly, he passed away the week we got Fleur. Our barn would be full of his horses if he were still alive.

I know exactly what you’re saying. I had a beagle in my younger life. Terrance was the great love of my life. He disappeared a month after my son was born. I learned later there were people picking up animals for testing. I dreamed about that dog for 20 years. Not even an exaggeration. There are animals in a person’s life that are so much a part of you that while they may fade, they’re forever present. Thank you for sharing Zip with us. I’m so sorry for your loss and I completely understand what you’re feeling and what you have endured in that loss. They can never be replaced. You can love others; but for the fortunate among us, there is “the one.”
You are so very right in saying, "The fortunate among us" Beverly. I know we are some of the few lucky ones who have had the honor of experiencing this connection and love. Thank you.
Horses are some of the smartest animals in the world I trust horses and dogs more than any human
Truth! I am right there with you!
Don't sit on horses please humans, it's psychotic to pretend that they like it .
How lovely is your farm. I’ve learned so much from this video.
Thanks very much!
When I lived in France there was an ENORMOUS pedigree mare in an adjacent field who would reverse fiercely into the fence to present her rump so that passers-by could reach horseflies attacking her. We could thump those filthy things as hard as we liked and she would stay put until the deed was done. She was a bright and beautiful girly....😍
Thank you for sharing all your knowledgeable. I love your herd
