Here’s the deal. I see PW plants on social media all the time and they always look great. So, since they are hard to find in my area, I decided to order a few by mail. I have purchased unbranded verbena, sedum, and calabrachoa in the past and have had moderate success, so I thought I would give these a try. provenwinnersdirect.com USDA garden zone 9b Filmed using and iPhone 15 pro

    • @WendysGardenJourney

      Good question. 😊 I assumed that if left, it would mature and drop its seeds, and then new tubers would grow. Similar to when you grow dahlias from seed. I cut it off since I have more than enough tubers going in my garden now.

      I ordered it off Amazon and then stained it. I don't see it on Amazon anymore, but did find it on Wayfair (link below). First concrete information I’ve found on growing as a hedge, thank you! So you top them every three or four years, that’s not bad in terms of maintenance. What about the sides? And may I ask how far you spaced them to get this effect?

    • @WendysGardenJourney
      @WendysGardenJourney 4 місяці тому

      I have to trim the sides up at least once a year or they will get too wide. They were planted about 5 feet apart and are part of the original garden landscape for this house, so they are about 30 years old. Also, I live in California and we don't get a lot of moisture in the summer, so I am not sure if they will grow faster in areas that get more moisture. Good Luck Planting 😊

    Remove the fountain, dig a deep pit, install plastic tank 24 to 36 inches deep 48 inch diameter tank open on top, dig the pit to the same depth of the tank . Use expanded metal on top of tank with concrete block in center to support fountain. Place pump in botom of tank with long hose for fountain Place fountain on expanded metal ,cover the rest of the metal with rock. Fill with water , if algae forms use chlorine tablets to subdue. Don't over use the chlorine birds can still drink the water.

    Could you add a few rain barrels to help with water around your house? You could water your plants and save your landscaping from flooding.

    • @WendysGardenJourney
      @WendysGardenJourney 6 місяців тому

      I have considered that but we generally only get a few months of rain, so the cost benefit ratio is relatively small for my area. 😊 It is the clay that keeps the soil from draining. Since I started forking a couple years ago, the soil drains much better than it used to drain.
