I wish I could say that the best part of this game isn't the opening movie but sadly once this movie ends I can't really find a single positive thing to say

Better story in the opening cinematic than the whole rest of the game.

So if we wipe out the middle East Africa and South America along with California and New York, 10 years later we have starships and warp drive. So what you telling us Japan? Don't see a lot of dark faces or Jews in that opening.

just watched a terrible sci fi film. Had to come back to watch this. So epic.. humanity rising like a goddamn phoenix from the ashes

I heard so many complaints about SO4 but I thought that this game was pretty good. There was definitely more to do than SO5.

That last 30 seconds....so epic!! from 2:37 onwards is just so awesome! Seeing the Earth, Moon, and Sun all line up with that musical crescendo! Breathtaking! :D

When there's nothing else to blow up, what's the point of still being enemies when there's nothing left..

lol, that is kind of fucked up that theyre all shaking hands and smiling after they just got done blowing up the planet.

best pre-title-screen intro of a game in the 30 years ive been playing videogames and square-enix's/tri-ace's best by far. the energy behind the cinematic is astounding and the visual and musical score really give you the feeling that youre getting ready to embark on an epic quest of discovery. everytime i watch this i get goosebumps and i dont even own the game anymore. if only the game itself was as good as the intro, heh. still a game worth playing though. both the 360 and ps3 versions.

@mangekyokakashi According to some documentaries I've seen (one juts recently a few months ago) the White House was reforced to withstand a nuclear blast. However, as for the president still standing, no idea that was probably just for the story. In the game, it could be that because of all of those nukes being around, the US there could've reinforced the White House to not only be able to stand a Nuclear Blast, but also to keep out the fallout. Dunno, I'm just speculating.

A nuclear war marks the end of humanity. The trailer however defies all logic(I mean the white house still standing after a direct nuclear explosion in, DC with the president still breathing despite the fallout? >_> ).

I like how the in-game encyclopedia says that the nukes got fired because of a computer error on the bombers... because they are drones. A computer error caused the destruction of modern civilization... nightmarish.
