When the preceding 2 verses are read together with knowledge of the Greek text; the inevitable conclusion is that, in 1 COR. 9:27, Paul was saying that he could lose salvation. If Paul, who had taught so many, was afraid of being rejected at the end, what can we say? Mere belief is not enough. We must behave in a way which is blameless if we hope to inherit salvation. - John Chrysostom, patriarch-bishop of Constantinople; born in 347 at Antioch, Turkey; died in 407 at Comana Pontica, Turkey GALATIANS 1:8 But though WE, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you; let him be accursed. "We" includes "me", so here is another verse wherein Paul said he could lose salvation. Paul includes himself also in danger of possibly being damned if he stopped believing & teaching the truth, & started believing & teaching falsehood concerning salvation. - John Chrysostom See the apostolic prudence! He includes himself as being possibly subject to future damnation if he departed from the truth & started teaching lies. - John of Damascus; born in Damascus c. 675; died at the monastery of Mar Saba, near Jerusalem, on 4 Dec. 749 PHILIPPIANS 3: ¹¹ If by any means I may attain to the resurrection of the dead. ¹² Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect. But I pursue, if indeed I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended by Christ Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I do not consider myself to have apprehended. But this one thing I do: forgetting those things which are behind, & reaching forward to those things which are before; ¹⁴ I pursue toward the goal unto the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus. Throughout the letter Paul bears witness to his joy in them, & praises their obedience & faith. But he is concerned that they, like all who are subject to human conceits, might become elated as though they were already worthy. So he tells them openly, speaking of his own person, that something is still lacking for perfect righteousness. He urges them to good works. If he who is adorned with such dignity confesses that he is still lacking in perfection, they would understand how much more they must work to acquire the blessings of righteousness. - Ambrosiaster; a pseudonym, real author unknown; all known writings of this author dated between 366 & 384 Paul did not look upon himself as absolutely certain of his salvation. How much greater presumption would this be in us?

μένω (meno): abide, continue, endure, persevere, remain, stay exactly right where you already are Whenever the Bible uses μένω in reference to being "in Christ", it can NEVER be spoken to or about a non-Christian or a false convert; because it is, by definition; referring to someone who is already, truly, & totally "IN Christ". Here are some examples of the NT use of the Greek word μένω & some of the verses it connects to disprove ES/OSAS, & some other verses that concur as cross-references to them: 1 JOHN 2:24 Let that therefore ABIDE... These Bible verses prove that a soul is not saved instantly & totally by momentary faith, but constantly & finally (after death) through maintained fidelity. Therefore the doctrine of Eternal Security (during this lifetime, in the flesh, & in the world), also known as: "Once Saved Always Saved", is a lie. Only after a soul has followed Jesus Christ all the way to Heaven is it eternally secure & always safe.

It's simple if you believe Jesus you have eternal life if you don't believe Jesus then you don't have eternal life it's that simple.

God wants christians his children to know they have eternal life and that Jesus will lose none and that he will never leave us nor forsake us and that he is with us always and that we are sealed until the day of redemption and that we have been bought with a price and that our eternal life is a free gift you either believe the witness of God or the witness of men.eternal security means to me that because of the price Jesus paid on the cross and only Jesus could pay i have everlasting life and i have been delivered from the fear of the bondage of death because he who promised is faithful God wants you to know and believe that is the witness of God and he wants his children to be settled and secure in christ knowing that he can not lie that's why we needed Jesus in the first place because there is absolutely nothing we can do for salvation that's why Jesus said by himself he has purged our sins he paid it all we can earn rewards but never eternal life he who has the Son has life that is what God wants all his children to know and believe we are secure

That's the problem with especially the souped up rock style Christianity, where "no one is perfect" gospel is preached, they don't teach denying the flesh and fasting, fasting is very key, not only that but to be sensitive enough to know; that after you've come off a good fast; then to know when it's time for an other, I've come off a 7 day fast, and after a day at times I feel the tugging to go on an other, a person who is sensitive to the holy spirit should be able to know when it's time for another fast, that's the way it works for me, that if I don't fast when I need to I could feel the spirit of the world beginning to take over, fasting is part of striving daily, it's also offensive to those who don't have a reel love of seeking the Lord and his holy spirit.
