They are back to using the old MGFH hoppers built in QLD as the majority of the new CRRC Meishan built two packs are out of service due to defects, very sad state of affairs. Nice to see CM3307 adding variety to the train, good work Steve.(By the way Steve, that is Mandagery Creek and not Manildra Creek)
Thankyou for the feedback and that info. We were wondering why the new hoppers were arriving from Parkes, must be storing or fixing them there(?). I'll correct the creek in the description with the right name and why I should not be writing the description at 10:30pm at night 😅.
@@MolongRailwayAdventures The wagons are getting minor repairs at Manildra and other repairs are done at Lithgow. The new hoppers were the rake stored at Bogan Gate West terminal. As an aside, 44208 is not being used as the shunter loco driver prefers MM02 the little EMD, so nothing wrong with 44208, just driver preference.
A lovely little video thanks for the memories I used to drive 731 motor.
I'm glad to read you enjoyed the video and brought back some happy memories. The site has changed alot since then with even more activity and hopefully will continue to grow. All the best.
Transport heritage nsw has brought the 44 class now
Although the 44 class is now with Transport Heritage NSW in Thirlmere, there is still plenty of heritage trains occupying the site now which is great to see.
A great little video.
Nice video; the lighting on the going shot as the train went behind the trees closed the video very nicely.
Nice one there Steve, I noticed MAN002 blew a lot of smoke out of Manildra yard the other day, not good for an "eco & green" brand new locomotive.
Thankyou. All engines smoke on that hill because of the grade, however this smoke from the locomotive is a bit like the episode of Thomas The Tank Engine Teething Troubles 😅.
They look good, well captured. Cheers.
Thankyou and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The locomotives do look fantastic in The Manildra Group livery all brand new and hopefully will look even better when they see more work (a bit weathered).
Looks like that Cowra won't see a train again another idiot move by the government to close the branch a perfect set up for the tourist train running to promote tourism and local jobs.
At least The Lachlan Valley Railway (LVR) are looking into connecting Blaney NSW to Cowra NSW through the local councils and NSW Governments and hopefully in time we will see a heritage train run on the line.
Great work Steve, guess you would have got MAN002 & MAN001 leading todays Manildra flour train? Nice and clean for the time being, they left Manildra Yard near two hours late today.
Thankyou. To be honest capturing this train was a fluke. We all heard the audible warning device and the crossing started as we were about to leave after meeting all commitments in Orange today. Missed the Manildra train because of the constant running around recently with various commitments. Maybe I'll capture them the next time they pass through?🤔
@@MolongRailwayAdventures Thursday ex Manildra Yard at 1217hrs if all goes well, not like today, just shy of two hours late out of the yard.
CYLINDER DRAIN COCKS & STEAM ! At 08:29, the "steam" is NOT a publicity stunt ! It is necessary when restarting a steam loco, to first open the cylinder drain cocks. To blow out any condensed water that has collected inside the cylinders while the loco was stationary. You cannot "compress water" so if water has collected inside any of the cylinders, it is likely to knock out (break) the end of a cylinder, unless you open the drain cocks first. This simply allows fresh steam being put through the cylinders as you begin to move, to blow out any collected water preventing damage. So the drain cocks are normally left open for a few seconds after restarting, and then closed to avoid wasting any more steam. Steam locomotive Drivers therefore have to be very well trained, in not just how to drive these monstrously mechanical machines. But they must also be fully conversant with all the mechanical parts and there lubrication needs, or very nasty (and expensive) things can go wrong. Don't forget that huge highly pressurised boiler is effectively a motorised bomb, and would cause more damage if it exploded, than a World War 2 Japanese Kamikaze aircraft hitting a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier !!!!! Many "moons" ago, I was a Shed Master in charge of a whole fleet of steam locos, although none of them was nearly as big as this beautiful NSW Beyer Garratt.
3803 smoke box door was in Phil Bilpins garage at St Ives. I remember seeing as a young lad.
Its actually a great video - showing what the race looks like from "outside" the bubble and what the locals experience during the carnival. I recently went to the Nurburgring in Germany and saw what the little town of Adenau that services the track puts up with this every day.
All these railway lines where closed hot on the heals of when the government signed the Lima Peru Accord. Planned destruction of Australia's capacity to produce and have people live with dignity in the country.
Good video Steve, don't forget that the ARTC SWTT/TAA changes tomorrow, would expect UGLRL's will follow suit.
Haven't been in there for a few years, they have changed it since I was last there, pity you didn't meet up with Zach Gray and Alistaire Harris, wealth of local rail knowledge, both long time members of the shed. Great coverage Steve.
Hi Locomotive b61 is lease to lvr orange east fork Diesel 4701 going to canberra railway museum and 4708 Indian pacific
The four car explorer set came back from Broken Hill Friday arvo, 1335hrs through Condobolin. Good catch the triple 81's there Steve.
my uncle worked Cumnock Silos in the 80s and 90s
Good one, I like the special horn blast. Cheers.
A nice little video old Warren started that club in the old shed he used to be a driver at Lithgow.
Great work thanks💜
Always something happening at Bathurst, did you get the "Broken Heels" special today Steve? It was running over 30 minutes late four car Explorer set when I seen it at Pinecliffe Loop this arvo.
Unfortunately I didn't film the Explorer today due to my health being effected by the the smoke lingering in the air from the farmers "back burning" their land which started yesterday arvo into the night.
A nice little video I spent a lot of time at Bathurst station.
A great little video i see the old g class is going again.
You didn't happen to notice Steve if the Lithgow Yard Box (in the background) was staffed? I heard, not confirmed, that it was permanently switched out of service?
The signal box looked empty from where I was. There was alot of workers with excavators and equipment between the signal box and old Eskbank station with what looked like a mix of track work and cables being removed/installed. Not sure officially what the work was, but it was ridiculously busy on that side.
@@MolongRailwayAdventures Been like that for four years Steve, yard is being converted to full "remote" working so signals will be controlled by ATRICS at Blacktown Complex. Mount Victoria box closed about 12 months ago and is cut out. Not sure about Lithgow Coal Stage Box up towards the depot, it may be the last still operating.
Good one, thanks for sharing. Cheers.
What a huge joke the new Mariyung sets turned out to be, still not in service, hopefully the same will not happen with the new CAF sets presently at Dubbo and about to be tested.
Well done thank you.👍👍👍👍
Nice spot there Steve, pity the silos are closed and no longer in use. What is the council doing with the station building now the new library is up and running?
New library is owned and operated by Orange City Library, out of Cabonne Community Centre in Bank Street. As for the railway station is unknown to God what is happening. The only situations I know of is: 1) UGL Regional Linx owns Molong Railway Station under their asset management documents. This is as the station (although heritage listed) is still in the main rail corridor. UGL only allows Cabonne Council to lease the main station building. 2) There are talks and plans with varying Cabonne councillors to “re-open Molong Railway Station to passenger services/business if elected/re-elected” promises being made; as the local council election are due this month. 3) There are all sorts of local community activity a with people interested in Molong Railway Station as museum, opening it to public trains and preservation. 4) With the Molong to Dubbo Scenic Line 100th anniversary in 2025; Molong Museum is orgainising a big celebration in early 2025. 5) Since the flood the Federal Government has been “buying back scheme” in the flood zone areas. Molong Railway Station and gate house have been listed as flood risk hazards, the gate house at the railway crossing marked for demolition (according to the previous owner). All of the above is what I currently know about the station. I personally have been constantly asked “what to do with the station?” and I only see one to two options or both. 1) Turn it into an operational heritage museum about the stations history and have a “working hands on signal box and exhibits with information kosk”. 2) Extend the platform to the current “main line section of track” using a grate/mesh design (for flood, stability, durability and security), as the council with state and federal government will not pay to realign the track and build another bridge to where the original main line was. There would be more to it, but this is what I constantly see the options boiling down towards, whenever asked. In short lots of interest, lots of talking but unknown to what will actually be happening with the station at the time of writing this. Hope all is well and all the best.
@@MolongRailwayAdventures Interesting to know that UGLRL owns the station building, I thought it would have been owned by Transport for NSW under the old RailCorp property assets porfolio and thus owned by NSW state government. Anything to do with council and UGLRL will be a question of money Steve, as for reopening the station it will not happen with only the Broken Hill train each way once per week, the economics of it don't stack up. The museum would be great but the risk of another flood and destroying historic exhibits and displays would deter many people from offering items for public display. Might be over your way this Thursday, well as far as Manildra anyway,
@@dieseldavetrains8988 Cool, is that to catch The Broken Heel Festival Xplorer on Thursday (around 11:48am is the timetable through Molong), which also returns on the Friday (4:42pm is the timetable through Molong) to Sydney? Timetable off UGLRL website.
@@MolongRailwayAdventures No Steve, have to see someone at Manildra Group office if he isn't in Sydney. Not real interested in passenger trains, that Broken Heels extra is just an Explorer set, probably the usual three cars.
Good one.
Rail set out of Bathurst by the look of that, bound for InLand rail project either on the main south or maybe north of Narromine? Nice work Steve.
Wonderful Loco.
Great video Steve, you have to love that silo art, beautiful work by the artist.
A lovely little video another idiot move by the government close all the branch lines in the pocket of road transport.

A lovely little video keep up the great work on video.
A great little video drove the Bathurst bullet for years worked trains with Ben's engine in the steam days.
Coooool!!!😎 Glad you enjoyed the video.
A nice little video were did you get that uniform?
Created it from old NSWGR uniform photos years ago for when I was volunteering at heritage train orgainisations as a station assistant. The uniform basis was on 1940-1960 NGWGR uniforms and was originally purchased from a military shop in the UK (Epic Militaria) as they had 1940-1960 cut uniforms at the time. The uniform is still being constantly altered to be "more correct" even to this day. I'll have to make a behind the scenes video to showcase where and what it is based off and hoe it all came together.
Interesting history, well done Steve.
Great video Steve and well researched with excellent history information, well done.
Thankyou 🥳
This was different to all the other videos about 3801 ive seen. Well done i like the behind the scene fell its got Gave the first thumbs up keep em coming. Great work.
Thankyou, we are all glad you enjoyed this video. As I use to volunteer with various railway groups I like to film what happens behind the scene, to give a bit of scale and show the human side to the railways. For 3801, we were privileged enough, with the public in Orange to be invited both inside the gates and outside to watch and record them servicing the locomotive. It's an event we will never forget. Thankyou again for watching and all the best.
@@MolongRailwayAdventures your welcome , loved it
Poor old 44208 is in need of a deep clean. SSR derailed one of the new Chinese built flour hoppers at Manildra this morning, closed the western line for awhile.
I'm surprised the 44208 is still there, while the MM001 was last seen in Lithgow and the American shunter MM03 was donated to Lachlan Valley Railway (LVR) and is currently stored in their Cowra Depot. Did the mill own any of the locomotives and now contract them to SSR or are they owned outright by SSR or Pacific National?
@@MolongRailwayAdventures Manildra Group own 44208, 44209, MM01 (ex 4907) and MM02 (ex 4913). They are waiting on 17 new main line locomotives to arrive from the USA later this year.
