buy a lg dvd drive, i have it and it just werks. dont buy those offbrand stuff unless you want to salvage the drive inside of them (these companies make like infinite profit selling these "external" drives from binned laptop dvd drives)

these external Drives only work on the back USB ports it needs power from the Motherboard to work the Front ports don't carry much power for these i had to find that out with my PC as well what i went with now is a normal Desktop DVD drive in an external Case much better option in my opinion.

Where did u get the cd player

It's been a year since this video was posted but figured I'd comment to help someone out who was trying to troubleshoot their external drive. If using for a desktop the drive needs to be plugged into the motherboard USB directly due to power consumption. Mine desktop running windows 10 would not recognize my drive and gave me an error message so I checked drivers and windows said I had the best driver for the device already installed. Plugged into the back directly into the motherboard and it worked instantly. Hope this helps someone

Don't know if you stil need help, but all DVD drives(and i mean ALL) have a little hole on the font of them, that you can put a small pin in to forcibly open the tray with. it's a very old tried and true saftey percution to ensure peoples DVD's don't get stuck in the tray when the drive might fail. Just a little fyi.
